technology allowing players and athletes to manage any light condition
on field, on bike or on the green. It is perfect for any sport where it is necessary to see true light quickly (e.g., baseball, biathlon, golf, shooting,

the non-prescription (plano) lenses. Our patented “easy-in, easy-out” system enables insertion or removal of our clips with ease. Your patients

used on prescription. The optician has the freedom to decide the
final selection on the basis of the real requirements and prescription,
fitting parameters (PD & H) and the shape of the lenses chosen.

1. When the template is not available, use the demo (or plano lens) as reference to cut the ophthalmic lenses.
2. The clip must be properly shaped according to the model of the glasses which should be applied before installation. Once set, you can determine fit
parameters (PD and H), and deduct final considerations when mounting progressive lenses.
3. Before removing the clip to fit ophthalmic lenses, remember to take your references for the true horizontal axis.
4. The vertex distance is reduced when using an Optical RX insert: this should be taken into consideration before mounting ophthalmic lenses.
5. The winding angle of the RX Optical Insert may change according to the design and geometry of the eyewear on which it is mounted, and it is always
much higher than the one found on a regular dress eyewear. This induces an horizontal prismatic deviation which will increase with the power of the lenses.
Rudy Project recommends, as a general rule, to apply an horizontal shift of the lens in this way:
+1.00 mm per eye in case of negative correction
-1.00 mm per eye in case of positive correction
6. If the value of the spherical lens is more than +/- 3:00 diopters and given the high wrap of the Rudy Project frames, it is necessary to make the due
considerations on the required horizontal prismatic compensation and to the reduced vertex distance.
7. Before mounting ophthalmic lenses, it is always recommended to check the centering of the lenses on the clip once housed in the frame; do not mount
any prescription on a clip without frame.
8. For the best result when mounting lenses on the clip, Rudy Project suggests to refer to the regular dress eyewear of the patient: in this way the adaptation
to the new device will be faster and easier.
9. Rudy Project recommends the fitting of ophthalmic lenses with spherical geometry. For best results, consider to mount lenses with optical design specific
for wraparound frames.
10. The RX Insert is not compatible with ImpactX® Polarized lenses.
Inserto Ottico (clip-on) rimovibile
Abbiamo creato un clip-on da inserire all’interno della montatura, dietro le lenti. Grazie al nostro sistema brevettato In & Out, il clip-on può essere inserito o
staccato con facilità: una caratteristica particolarmente utile quando si preferisce portare le lenti a contatto o per la pulizia delle lenti.
1. Ove la dima non sia disponibile, ricavare la forma lente utilizzando la lente di presentazione.
2. La clip deve essere opportunamente modellata a seconda del modello di occhiale su cui va applicata prima dell’installazione. Una volta installata, è
possibile determinare i parametri di calzata (PD e H), e dedurre le considerazioni finali in caso di montaggio di lenti progressive.
3. Prima di rimuovere la clip e procedere al montaggio delle lenti oftalmiche, ricordarsi di prendere gli opportuni riferimenti per ricavare l’orizzontale reale.
4. La distanza apice corneale-lente (vertex distance) si riduce utilizzando un RX Optical Insert. Di ciò si dovrà tenere conto prima del montaggio delle lenti
oftalmiche.
5. L’angolo di avvolgimento frontale assunto dall’RX Optical Insert varia a seconda del modello di occhiale su cui viene applicato, e risulta sempre molto
superiore rispetto a quanto riscontrabile su una comune montatura oftalmica. Questo introduce una deviazione prismatica orizzontale che aumenta entità
al crescere del potere delle lenti. Rudy Project consiglia, come regola generale, di applicare un decentramento orizzontale della lente di:
+1.00 mm per occhio in caso di correzione negativa
-1.00 mm per occhio in caso di correzione positiva
6. Qualora il valore sferico della lente sia superiore a +/-3.00 diottrie, è necessario che l’ottico faccia le dovute considerazioni in merito alla compensazione prismatica orizzontale necessaria e alla ridotta distanza apice-corneale lente, dato l’elevato grado di avvolgimento frontale delle montature Rudy Project.
7. Prima di procedere al montaggio delle lenti oftalmiche, si raccomanda di verificare la centratura delle lenti sulla clip una volta alloggiata nella montatura.
8. Per il miglior risultato, Rudy Project consiglia di far riferimento alla prescrizione degli occhiali da vista quotidianamente indossati dal soggetto per il
montaggio delle lenti oftalmiche sulla clip: in questo modo l’adattamento al nuovo dispositivo da parte dell’utente sarà più rapido ed agevole.
9. Rudy Project consiglia il montaggio di lenti oftalmiche a geometria sferica. Per un miglior risultato, considerare l’opportunità di montare lenti oftalmiche
con design ottici specifici per montature avvolgenti.
10. Il clip-on non è compatibile con le lenti polarizzate ImpactX®.

POLARIZED LENSES effectively block reflected glare, a situation which occurs primarily near water or snow
or off reflective surfaces nearby, such as car windows, metallic objects, etc. Light which strikes a horizontal
reflective surface is reflected back into your eyes. You then get a “double dose” of light energy, some of
which falls directly on to you and some that is reflected on to you. Polarized lenses offer an interesting
advantage: because they dramatically reduce or eliminate the reflected light energy which might account

WHY IS THE LENSOMETER READING DIFFERENT FROM THE PRESCRIPTION THAT I ORDERED ?
Rudy Project RX lenses with Virtual Sight technology are digitally surfaced and designed exclusively for Rudy Project frames in order to
compensate vertex distance, panto-tilt angle and panoramic angle.
Because of this we revise the prescription and you cannot get accurate
lensometer reading: our lab controls any spectacle during the entire manufacturing process; then a specific instrument controls powers
and fitting parameters by considering all the special features of Rudy
frames.
DO PRESCRIPTIONS FOR NORMAL EYEGLASSES WORK FOR IMPACTRX OR HI+ 1.6 LENSES?
Of course you must start from the current prescription: usually the recalculated prescription performed by Rudy Project guarantees the best
result for the user; however further evaluations regarding target distances, light and environmental conditions, technical equipment, will help
in customizing his new Rudy Project RX sunglasses. Rudy Project recommends to provide exactly the same prescription both with Rudy Project
Rx Sunglasses and the usual eyewear equipment for everyday use.
IF PATIENTS HAVE A PRISM IN THEIR SCRIPT, CAN THEY STILL DO A
DIRECT IN FRAME RX?
As a general rule, Rudy Project can produce spectacles with prismatic
prescription till about 4.00 prismatic diopters whether allowed by the
prismatic compensation normally introduced for compensating panoramic angle. Rudy Project will evaluate any specific situation case by
case.
SPORT SOLUTIONS AND PROGRESSIVE LENSES: ANY PARTICULAR
EVALUATION?
Rudy Project will customize any prescription parameter through its Virtual Sight Technology in order to achieve the best visual comfort for
the user. Despite our recalculation, the revised script will compensate
wrap and tilt angle, but it will work accordingly with the vision target
evaluated during the examination. It means that if the reading distance
has been set at 35 cm, Rudy spectacles will preserve sharp vision at
that distance. Nevertheless our experience demonstrates that a detailed anamnesis and VOC could point out critic situations for the user’s
vision while playing, specially for proximity: often Add power needs to
be reduced because of different reading distances; we warmly recommend to consider such “alerts” in order to grant the best performance.
WARRANTIES
ARE THE COLORS OF THE IMPACTRX LENSES THE SAME AS THE IMPACTX COLORS?
Nominally they are the same. As a matter of fact the different blend of
the ophthalmic version (due to a different polymeric formula) besides
the Hard Coating (or the Diamond Coat) applied, produce slight differences in the photochromic activation. For further information, please
refer to the specific section of the site www.rudyproject.com and to the
Tv% data included in our catalogue (page 36).
WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF THE ANTI-REFLECTIVE COATING?
Rudy Project Diamond Coat is a multilayer A/R coating which minimizes glares, annoying reflections and halos around lights. It provides
enhanced visual comfort and lenses look thinner or non-existent; its
powerful antistatic properties and the outstanding hydrophobic coating allow your lenses to stay cleaner longer. Stronger than in the past,
Diamond coat protects your lenses during sport activities.

Hard Coating is always included within Rudy Project Rx lenses. Even if it provides superior resistance properties, it cannot prevent scratches or damages
in case of crashes, grinding or contact with scratchy material. Please consider that scratches may affect Laser, Multilaser and Racing coating more than
other tints. Rudy Project will not respond in case of damages coming from Improper use and care. Any evaluation will be determined by the Rudy Project
Quality Dept.
OUR LAB ERRORS
Rudy Project will remake any lenses made incorrectly. Credit will be issued upon receipt of old lenses. Please be specific about the reason for requesting a
remake. The invoice number, date and reason for the redo must be included in order for credit to be issued.
Rudy Project will accept orders for spare lenses whether the request is
for models within the current catalogue.
MAY I ORDER ONLY ONE RX LENS?
Rudy Project warmly recommends to order both R and L lenses, in order
to avoid different photochromic effects between the two lenses or any
mismatching between the base tints.
WHAT TO DO IF THE USER IS NOT ABLE TO USE HIS RUDY SPECTACLES?
Firstly keep in contact with Rudy Project in order to forward your complaint. Before sending back the glasses, the optician should investigate
in order to understand where the issue comes from: the trouble is with
far or near distance, when looking at a fix target or when pursuit the
target, which solution the user did to solve his troubles. Then check
once again the fitting parameters and the fitting of the frame (pay
attention to panto-tilt angle and vertex distance). Take a test to confirm
binocular balancing; be sure that the dominant eye does not change when wearing Rudy project spectacles; compare the stereo acuity
between usual spectacles and Rudy equipment. In case of progressive
lenses, be sure that Add power is related to the real use conditions.
All this info must be forwarded to Rudy Project in order to define any
Corrective Action. Please refer to our “Non Adaptation Policy” within
Warranties section in this catalogue.
NON ADAPTATION POLICY FOR PROGRESSIVE LENSES
Non-adapt to progressive changed to Single Vision will be done one time, at no charge if notified with in the first 60 days from the shipment document
date. Furthermore a change in fitting parameters, prescription power or a different progressive design is allowed at a one time 50% discount, within 90
days from the shipment document date. Any charges not on the original invoice will be billed at full price. Credit will be issued upon return of old lenses.
For accurate and expedite credit, please include the original invoice number, date, reason for change and authorization number issued by Rudy Project.
PHOTOCHROMIC LIMITED WARRANTY
Photochromic pigments of Rudy Project RX Lenses get different ranges of activation if compared to plano lenses, because of different manufacturing process.
Please consider that photochromic activation is affected by environmental conditions like temperature and altitude. Pigments react to UV rays: stronger is the
radiation, faster will be the activation. Please consider that as per all organic materials, also photochromic pigments suffer for “aging” process: it is related
to exposure to UV rays and their intensity; there’s no relation to the number of activations during its life.
HOW TO MANAGE A CUSTOMER’S CLAIM?
Before sending back the RX sunglasses, please ask for and fill in the
Complaint Form to Rudy Project and forward it. You will receive a
reply in 24 hours.
Where allowed by the frame, Rudy Project offers several shapes of
lenses for the same model in order to reach the best cosmetic result
with higher scripts and the wider prescription range. Rudy Project Customer Service will be at your side for detailed analysis of the resulting
thickness based on your customers’ rx and fitting parameters.
Contact lenses can cause visual instability (dryness, shock, sweat, etc.).
There are numerous advantages over clip-ons: greater field of vision,
less weight, ease of use and maintenance, fewer tendencies to blur.
DO I NEED A SPECIAL LICENSE TO SELL PRESCRIPTION LENSES?

WHY ARE THERE DIFFERENT LENS SHAPES FOR SOME MODELS?
No, they don’t. The ImpactRx lenses are rigid in order to avoid any
change to the prescription of the lenses.
Diamond Coat and Hard Coating are warranted for a period of two years. This warranty is limited to a one time replacement of the same Rx and material in
the original frame. Damage due to improper care and handling is not covered. The Rudy Project Quality Dept is in charge of the defective rating (defective
material or improper care).
HOW MAY I ORDER RUDY RX SPECTACLES?

Rx lenses are considered medical devices so sale to the consumer must
always be carried out by a qualified optician who certifies that the
glasses themselves are in compliance. So it is important to check your
country’s legislation.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR RUDY PROJECT SPECTACLES
Rudy Project is focused in development and selection of materials with the highest standards in order to ensure maximum durability of its products; there are
still few rules for the use and maintenance of glasses that contribute to make their life longer.
• Do not leave your glasses face down and put them in their case when you are not wearing them
• Clean your glasses regularly with mild detergent and body temperature water; dry them with a soft clean cloth
•Avoid any contact with acetone, ammonia, glue, setting lotion, solvent, chain oil (both liquid and spray), fragrance, sprays, suntan cream, insecticide and
household cleaning materials.
•When exposed to the salt, regularly wash lenses and frames with freshwater, in order to prevent oxidation or corrosion
•Do not leave your glasses in hot environment that may damage your lenses and frame (for example on a car’s dashboard).
•Do not use them in the sauna.

atto a compensare la diversa distanza apice corneale – lente, l’inclinazione pantoscopica tipica di un occhiale sportivo e l’angolo panoramico dell’occhiale scelto. Di conseguenza la lettura al frontifocometro
non può essere ritenuta coerente al dato reale. I nostri laboratori utilizzano sofisticate strumentazioni costantemente tarate che verificano
la corretta centratura delle lenti durante tutto il processo produttivo;
alla fine del ciclo, terminato l’assemblaggio, tutti gli occhiali vengono
misurati con uno speciale misuratore che tiene in considerazione i vari
parametri sopra citati.
LA PRESCRIZIONE ABITUALE DEL SOGGETTO È SUFFICIENTE A GARANTIRE UN RISULTATO SODDISFACENTE PER IL PORTATORE?
Chiaramente il dato di partenza è fondamentale per raggiungere un
risultato soddisfacente: solitamente la prescrizione abituale del soggetto, opportunamente rielaborata da Rudy Project per l’ottimizzazione

Garanzia trattamenti
Il trattamento Diamond Coat è coperto da una garanzia di 2 anni per difetti di produzione. Tale garanzia prevede un’unica sostituzione del prodotto
difettato con uno avente le medesime caratteristiche. Danni derivanti da incuria o utilizzo improprio non verranno riconosciuti. La natura del difetto verrà
appurata dall’ufficio Controllo Qualità di Rudy Project.

POSSO ORDINARE SOLO LE LENTI RX SENZA LA MONTATURA?
Rudy project sostituirà ogni lente viziata da un difetto di produzione. L’accredito sarà erogato dopo che Rudy Project avrà potuto verificare la merce
difettata.
Sì, Rudy Project accetta anche ordini di lenti senza montatura, tenendo
a riferimento che tale disponibilità vale esclusivamente per i modelli
inclusi nel presente catalogo.
POSSO ORDINARE SOLO UNA LENTE RX?
In caso di “non adattamento” alle lenti progressive
Rudy Project consiglia di ordinare ogni volta una coppia di lenti, al
fine di ottenere sempre il corretto appaiamento colore e la medesima
capacità di attivazione fotocromatica.
In caso di mancato adattamento da parte del portatore alle sue nuove lenti progressive, Rudy Project offrirà un’unica possibilità di sostituzione delle stesse
con una nuova coppia di lenti monofocali entro 60 giorni dalla data di spedizione. Al cliente sarà inoltre riservata la possibilità (una sola volta) di richiedere
una nuova coppia di lenti progressive con una modifica a carico dei parametri di calzata o della gradazione delle lenti con uno sconto del 50% entro 90
giorni (qualsiasi supplemento non incluso nell’ordine originale sarà addebitato a prezzo pieno). L’accredito verrà eseguito solo a ricevimento delle vecchie
lenti. La merce verrà accettata solo previa autorizzazione di Rudy Project.
COSA FARE SE UN CLIENTE TROVA DIFFICOLTÀ NELL’ADATTAMENTO
ALLE LENTI IMPACTRX?
Innanzitutto l’ottico deve individuare nel dettaglio quale sia il disagio
del portatore: distanze di visione coinvolte, circostanze in cui emerge
il problema (visione statica o dinamica), quali stratagemmi adottati
per migliorare la performance… verificare nuovamente la centratura
delle lenti ed il posizionamento della montatura (particolare attenzione
va posta nell’osservazione dell’angolo pantoscopico e della distanza
apice corneale - lente).
Verificare che la visione binoculare del soggetto sia bilanciata.
Accertarsi che la dominanza oculare non sia invertita nel passare
dall’equipaggiamento standard al nuovo occhiale Rudy Project; verificare inoltre che la stereo acuità non mostri particolari riduzioni.
In caso di lenti progressive, verificare che il valore di addizione sia
coerente alle condizioni di utilizzo dell’occhiale in oggetto.
GARANZIA SU FOTOCROMATISMO
I pigmenti fotocromatici utilizzati da Rudy Project sono garantiti per un periodo di 2 anni solo in caso di totale mancanza di attivazione da parte degli stessi.
Il loro range di attivazione è descritto a pag.** e per motivi di produzione non può essere paragonato a quello delle lenti plano. Si consideri che nonostante
il continuo lavoro di miglioramento del prodotto, le performance di attivazione sono tuttora condizionate da fattori ambientali quali temperatura e altitudine.
Si ricorda inoltre che come tutti i prodotti di natura organica, i pigmenti fotocromatici sono soggetti a fenomeni di invecchiamento, non quantificabili in
numero di cicli di attivazione o ore di funzionamento, ma variabili in base alle condizioni di radiazione UV assorbita.
COME GESTIRE I RECLAMI DEI CLIENTI?
Prima di inviare in reso gli occhiali da vista a Rudy Project, si prega
di richiedere e compilare il modulo del reclamo inviandolo a Rudy
Project. Vi risponderemo nel giro di 24 ore.

A CONTATTO OPPURE AI CLIP ON?
Da sempre Rudy Project ricerca e seleziona materiali dal più elevato standard qualitativo al fine di garantire la massima durata dei propri prodotti; tuttavia
esistono delle norme di utilizzo e manutenzione che concorrono ad allungare l’efficacia del vostro equipaggiamento tecnico.
Le lenti a contatto possono determinare instabilità visiva (dovuta a secchezza, urti, sudore…).
Rispetto ai clipon i vantaggi sono molteplici: maggior ampiezza di
campo visivo, minor peso, praticità di utilizzo e manutenzione, minor
tendenza all’appannamento.
• Non appoggiare mai gli occhiali con le lenti rivolte verso il basso e riponili sempre nella loro custodia rigida quando non li usi.
DEVO AVERE DELLE LICENZE SPECIALI PER VENDERE LENTI DA VISTA?
Gli occhiali da vista sono da considerarsi presidi medici. La vendita al
consumatore finale deve quindi essere sempre effettuata da un ottico
abilitato il quale certifica la conformità dell’occhiale stesso.
E’ comunque importante verificare la legislazione del proprio paese.
•Pulisci regolarmente i tuoi occhiali sciacquandoli accuratamente sotto acqua corrente fredda dopo ogni utilizzo, usando eventualmente un detergente
liquido neutro ed asciugandoli con un panno morbido.
•Ricorda che il contatto o l’esposizione a sostanze quali acetone, collanti, fissatori, sgrassatori, solventi, lubrificanti (liquidi, in pasta o spray), profumi,
lacche, creme solari, insetticidi, vapori possono intaccare i trattamenti superficiali o i materiali stessi delle lenti, rendendole inutilizzabili.
•L’eventuale esposizione alla salsedine deve necessariamente comportare una cura più assidua e frequenti abbondanti lavaggi con acqua dolce, al fine di
minimizzare l’azione di corrosione del sale marino che si deposita sulle lenti.
•Non lasciare gli occhiali Rudy Project esposti a fonti di calore che possono danneggiare i materiali (per esempio appoggiati sul cruscotto dell’auto o nel
baule).
