scali del nord Italia, negli ultimi anni il Cristoforo Colombo è cambiato
seguendo l’evoluzione del suo territorio.
Negli ultimi anni la Liguria, meglio nota
all’estero come “Italian Riviera”, è diventata
una meta turistica sempre più rinomata e
apprezzata. A questa trasformazione si è accompagnato l’arrivo di nuove compagnie
aeree, insieme all’apertura di nuove importanti rotte. L’Aeroporto di Genova oggi è al
tempo stesso una porta d’accesso al suo
territorio e una porta sul mondo per aziende e viaggiatori in partenza. In occasione
della fiera No Frills di Bergamo, importante
momento di incontro tra compagnie aeree
e operatori del turismo, abbiamo voluto
dedicare questo numero a Genova e alla
Liguria. Speriamo di incontrarvi presto nel
nostro aeroporto.

recent years Cristoforo Colombo airport has changed, evolving with its territory.
Indeed, in recent years, Liguria, better known
abroad as the “Italian Riviera” has become an
increasingly well-known and popular tourist destination. And hand in hand with this
transformation has come the arrival of new
airlines and the opening of new, important
routes. Today, Genoa Airport is proud to be
both a point of access to the territory and
a gateway to the world for businesses and
travellers departing from it. We have chosen
to dedicate this issue to Genoa and Liguria
to mark Bergamo’s No Frills trade fair – an
opportunity for airlines and tourist operators
to meet and exchange ideas. We hope to welcome you to our airport soon.

FIVE NEW LUFTHANSA LOUNGES AT MUNICH AIRPORT
Lufthansa will open five new lounges at Munich airport in April
2016, together with the Satellitengebäude terminal building.
These new spaces dedicated to first and business class customers
will cover four thousand square metres. The lounges will be
located in the central part of the new building, looking directly
over the airport apron. Lufthansa connects Genoa to Munich with

BRITISH AIRWAYS REDUCES SIZE
FOR SECOND ITEM OF HAND LUGGAGE
British Airways has announced that over the next few weeks, it will be
altering the size of the second item of hand luggage they allow on board.
The maximum dimensions will be reduced to 40x30x15 cm, down from
the previously permitted 45x36x20 cm. The company has explained that
numerous passengers fail to respect the hand luggage limits, increasing
the workload of flight attendants, extending the time it takes to prepare

Luglio record per l’aeroporto di Genova, con 145.249 passeggeri
e un aumento del 7,31% rispetto allo stesso mese del 2014. Si
tratta del miglior mese di luglio di sempre nella storia dello scalo
genovese. Nei primi sette mesi dell’anno i passeggeri sono stati
784.768, con un aumento del 14,29% rispetto ai 686.629 dello
stesso periodo del 2014.
Anche in questa estate 2015 l’aeroporto di Genova si è confermato
uno degli scali di riferimento per l’aviazione generale e i voli privati.
Tra gli aerei in arrivo anche un Boeing 747SP (special performance) di
Saudi Arabian Airlines, configurato per voli Vip.

A record July for Genoa Airport, with 145,249 passengers and an

Genoa Airport has won the “On time performance” award for
Summer 2014 organised by the travel company Thomson. It
looks to reward the best turnaround times of aircraft used for
cruise charter flights. The airport received a cash prize, which was
immediately invested in the purchase of two new wheelchairs for
use by passengers with reduced mobility.

Excellent news for fans of Sicily: Volotea has confirmed that it will
fly daily from Genoa to Catania through to the end of October and
during the month of December (five times during the other winter
months) and three times a week to Palermo, which will increase

Genoa Airport and UBI Banco San Giorgio offer a full free Wi-Fi
coverage in all departure area. Connecting is simple: just turn on
your device, select “Airport WiFi Free” and open the Internet browser.
Once registered you will receive the access code to connect and
surf. On the arrival floor you can also find the “Free WiFi Genova”
network, offered by Genoa Municipality.

After an excellent summer at Genoa Airport, Ryanair has confirmed
it will continue to offer flights to London Stansted (six flights a week,
three from November), Trapani (four flights a week, three from
November) and Cagliari (up to the end of summer with three flights
a week). In the winter, extra rotations are envisaged for London

THE EYE OF THE TRAVELLER - BLACK DESERT
There is more to Egypt than pyramids, ancient temples and
cruising down the Nile. There are unique, enchanted places far
away from the crowds of tourists. We are in the Sahara, just a few
kilometres from the Bahariyah oasis; here the sea of sand takes
on unusual shapes and colours. It is the black desert, covered by
dark rocks and dust from ancient eruptions. It is said that man
can best get to know his innermost soul in the desert, as it is here
that he finds himself alone with his thoughts. I climb to the top
of a hill to seek the horizon. The landscape draws me in and, as
I photograph it, I seek to grasp my most intimate, deepest and
blackest emotions.

el corso degli ultimi anni l’Aeroporto di Genova ha visto crescere la sua vocazione turistica,
diventando la porta d’accesso privilegiata dei
visitatori in arrivo in Liguria, ma anche aeroporto a servizio delle crociere in partenza dai porti della Liguria.
Tutto questo senza dimenticare le tante importanti aziende
presenti sul territorio genovese e ligure. Grazie alla sua pista,
lunga 3.066 metri, il Cristoforo Colombo può accogliere praticamente qualunque aeromobile oggi in uso.

Parallelamente agli interventi sull’aerostazione, l’Aeroporto di
Genova ha già avviato la progettazione di un collegamento diretto con la ferrovia (progetto GATE, acronimo di “Genoa Airport,
a Train to Europe”). In futuro sarà quindi possibile raggiungere
l’aeroporto in treno, attraverso una nuova fermata ferroviaria

fino all’aerostazione. La progettazione di questa importante infrastruttura è stata cofinanziata dall’Unione Europea e procede
grazie alla collaborazione di Comune di Genova, Regione Liguria
e Società per Cornigliano.
Alongside the works on the terminal building, Genoa Airport
has already started planning a direct connection with the railway (the “GATE” [Genoa Airport, a Train to Europe] project). This
means that, in future, the airport will be accessible by train with
a new railway station in the Erzelli hills and a cable car connection to the terminal. The design of this important infrastructure
has been co-financed by the European Union and is proceeding
thanks to a collaboration between Genoa Council, the Regional
Council of Liguria and the Società per Cornigliano.
naugurata nel 1986, già a partire dai prossimi mesi l’aerostazione del Cristoforo Colombo sarà oggetto di importanti opere di ammodernamento. Il Piano di Sviluppo Aeroportuale prevede investimenti complessivi per 45 milioni
di euro finalizzati al miglioramento dei servizi ai passeggeri e alle
compagnie aeree che operano sullo scalo. Si tratta di interventi
che accompagneranno la crescita del traffico, che si prevede possa raggiungere i 2 milioni di passeggeri entro il 2027.
Oggi l’Aeroporto di Genova è collegato al centro della città da
un servizio bus dedicato, il Volabus, che effettua il servizio tra le
principali stazioni ferroviarie cittadine (Genova Brignole e Genova
Piazza Principe) e l’aerostazione. Il Cristoforo Colombo è anche
raggiungibile grazie al servizio bus navetta i24, che effettua il
collegamento tra l’aeroporto e la stazione ferroviaria di Genova
Sestri Ponente.
L’Aeroporto di Genova è anche facilmente raggiungibile in auto
grazie al collegamento diretto con la rete urbana: la recente apertura della nuova superstrada a mare consente di raggiungere il
centro cittadino e il porto nel giro di una decina di minuti. Non
solo: lo scalo gode anche di un casello autostradale dedicato
sull’autostrada A10.

ristoforo Colombo airport was opened in 1986 and,
from the forthcoming months, will be undergoing
some major modernisation works. The Airport Development Plan envisages total investments of 45
million euros aimed at improving the services offered to passengers and the airlines operating there. The works go hand in
hand with the increase in traffic, expected to reach two million
passengers by 2027.
Today, Genoa Airport is connected to the city centre via a dedicated bus service (the “Volabus”), which runs between the
city’s main railway stations (Genova Brignole and Genova Piazza Principe) and the airport. Cristoforo Colombo can also be
reached by shuttle bus i24, which runs between the airport and
the railway station of Genova Sestri Ponente.
Genoa Airport is also easily accessible by car, thanks to the direct
link with the urban road network: the recent opening of the new
dual carriageway along the coast means that the city centre
and port are just ten minutes away. And that’s not all: the airport
also has a dedicated toll station on the A10 motorway.
