An app for children recounting the story of the Holocaust, where words, illustrations, music,
sounds, voices, and animations are fused together and interactive features draw the reader into
the story, offering a variety of stimuli that enhance emotions and provide direct access to contents.
Included with the illustrated tale are extra features—a timeline of the Holocaust, maps, and a
selection of suggested readings and films—which help adults to contextualize the story for children
and deepen their understanding.
In Nazi-occupied Europe, Didier and Jou Jou, two Jewish children from France, are deported to
Auschwitz together with their father. The train filled with prisoners, their arrival at the camp, the
barracks—these are the scenes of their inevitable fate. But the reality of the concentration camp,
as seen through the eyes of the two children, takes on a magical, fairy-tale like quality: the
depository for possessions confiscated from the Jews becomes a place of imagination and discovery,
the barracks an aviary swirling with objects, the oven chimney a menacing dragon.
With original words, illustrations, and music, Auschwitz, A Tale of Wind is a first-person narrative
that helps children to confront the Holocaust with a delicate, poetic tone, hinting at the tragic
reality that looms in the background. The interactive features integrated into the storyline allow
readers to participate in the scenes, bringing characters and objects to life with the touch of a finger.

ABOUT US
paragrafo blu is an imprint of Paragrafo, a studio that since 1995 has worked with many of Italy’s
largest publishers, providing editorial, graphic, and print and digital production services. After
twenty years of print books, we envision the tablet screen as a new horizon, capable of adding exciting new dimensions to the reading experience. Not only words and images, but voices, animations,
interactivity, sounds, music. A variety of stimuli that enhance emotions, provide direct access to
contents, and leave a deeper mark on the reader. We have combined this profound interest in new
media with our long experience in the world of children’s and non-fiction publishing. The result
is Auschwitz, A Tale of Wind, our first interactive book, recounting the story of the Holocaust for
children.
