Amongst the many exhibitions we suggest “Leonardo 1452-1519 – il disegno del mondo”, the biggest
exhibition about Leonardo Da Vinci ever realized in Italy – the opening day will be the 16th of april in
Palazzo Reale. Designed and produced by Skira.
Also hosted by Palazzo Reale, from the 13th of April to 24th of May, the exhibition “design for life”, holds
25 years of the story of everyday household objects and ambients, shown through many fine art photos.
It’s promoted by comune di Milano and produced by Elle Décor italia.
In honor of the international year of light, a lot of space will be committed to light design.
In piazza San Fedele with the seven minute performance “Favilla, Ogni Luce Una Voce”, visitors will be
guided through a pathway, inside a black box, where different light will be associated with a different
sound.
This research, on the essence of light, is a project conceived by architect Attilio Stocchi.
The show “energy for creativity” hosted by INTERNI is an absolute must-see. Expo Milano 2015’s
theme “energy for life”, will be developed and expanded to the tune of city planning and architecture.
Many designers, of international fame, with backgrounds in the field of innovation and research, will
gather together to develop new ideas for the future. These events will take place between università
degli studi di Milano, orto botanico in Brera and via Montenapoleone.
One of the more interesting events taking place is “The Garden of Wonder”, a journey trough scents set
in Orto Botanico di Brera. The project explores the many synergies between the signature design and
handcraft businesses operating in the field of perfume. The installations shows the links between
creativity and small businesses, underlining the importance of design in the narration of the product,
from the container to the packaging, from graphic to communication.

Peugeot Bistrot du Lion food truck
Zanon_ via Tortona, 31
Peugeot's Design Lab created the "Le Bistrot du Lion:"a transforming vehicle that offers cafe-style
seating for up to 30 people.
The van's entire side panel opens to reveal a fully-equipped kitchen/prep area, with a raised roof to
offer the extra head room.
That side panel also houses a 46-inch display where hungry observers can watch the chef's routine.
Continuing with the modular construction, a counter slides out the back and the rear door handles
storage. There's a trailer too, and it packs in a n espresso machine for a fresh brewed cup and a DJ booth
provides tunes while folks dine.
Such a luxurious workspace needs talent to make it worth the trouble, so Peugeot enlisted Paris-based
chef Sven Chartier for the vehicle's stops at Milan Design Week and the World's Fair Expo Milano.

The rational and emotional worlds
LG Hausys e Marcel Wanders
HI-MACS® by LG Hausys
Via Tortona, 27
Marcel Wanders' concept of two opposite worlds for the LG Hausys stand at Milan Design Week 2015 is
not just a space arrangement – it is an experience.
Inspired by LG Hausys continuous material innovation, versatility and durability, we tell the story of the
endless possibilities of LG Hausys' products in relation to our pattern design. The pattern was originally
conceived around the themes of macro-cosmos, the layered, ornamental vastness of the Universe, and
micro-cosmos, with its ordered systems and patterns which can be found on a microscopic level. This
contradiction has inspired the space itself, where the rational and the emotional meet and HI-MACS
becomes a piece of art.
"We have drawn up a space full of fantasy and surprise, where people can linger, enjoy and encounter
the endless possibilities offered by the range of LG Hausys materials. We applied them in their full
extension, from wall to floor, from covering to foil, and beyond. The most fun part was to really stretch
the different materials' possibilities all the way to the unexpected!", said Marcel Wanders.
Experience two contrasting spaces, the rational and the emotional zone. The rational zone, is a
fundamentally functional and visually clean meeting space, which encourages dynamic dialog and
information exchange.
The floors and the walls are executed in metal panels with geometric shapes highlighting the openness
and sharpness of the space. In the centre of the room, and inspired by one of Marcel Wanders' patterns,
lays an exceptional piece; a slowly rotating imposing 'Medallion' which reveals all the beauty and
versatility of the Solid Surface HI-MACS.

The Unexpected Welcome!
Moooi
via Savona 56
From the 13th to the 19th of April, in occasion of the annual Salone del Mobile in Milan, Moooi
welcomes you to be blown away by their presentation in via Savona 56. For the 3rd time in a row, Moooi
is eager and ready to transform the monumental space of 1.700 m2, by showcasing an assembly of
inspirational living quarters, timeless product haikus and a new carpet collection, harmoniously
absorbed into the breath-taking depths of Rahi Rezvani’s artistic photography.
As always, Moooi strives to make the environment more beautiful, although this year finding your way
home has a double meaning: at Moooi’s collection presentation and deep inside you, where emotions
and feelings are free to blossom and express their intensity in response to an artistic and surreal world.
21 settings will unfold in front of your eyes in a fascinating combination of 9 home environments, which
will inspire you with their sense of style and 12 poetic haiku compositions, which will reveal in an instant
how Moooi’s furniture and lighting products can be combined to complement each other perfectly.
Simultaneously, a selection of 39 artistic photographs by Rahi Rezvani will be exhibited in all its glory,
with a towering height of 4.5 meters, thus generating an emotional trip into the mysteries of the human
soul, image by image. 'All people are different, but some are more different than others'* explains
Moooi’s Art Director and Co-Founder Marcel Wanders, thus explaining one of the reasons that brought
him to single out Rahi Rezvani’ photography as the perfect match for the Moooi presentation. There is a
strong affinity between Rahi’s art and Moooi’s designs, for both parties create beauty in an uncommon
way and generate strong reactions in the spectators by challenging their imagination. “We are really
proud to be the first brand to present the photography of Rahi Rezvani to the world of design. Its style
and beauty blend perfectly with the interesting lighting pieces and amazing furniture of Moooi’s new
collection”, reveals Marcel Wanders about the artistic cooperation.

“Helio curve”
Hyundai
Art Point Room - Superstudio Più, Via Tortona 27
Helio Curve is a unique kinetic installation that celebrates movement by creating a living wave.

an electrically-powered drive. The continuous fluctuation of the network creates waves over 10-feet
high and casts an enormous, moving shadow.
It’s supposed to reflect the “harmonious interconnectivity” of humanity. The entire structure is 16 feet
high and 85 feet wide.
“I am glad to introduce [the] ‘Sculpture in Motion’ project again at the Milan Design Week so that more
people can experience, feel and empathize with our design philosophy,” said Peter Schreyer, President
and Chief Design Officer of Hyundai Motor Group. “‘Sculpture in Motion 2.0′ expresses Hyundai Motor’s
signature design DNA ‘fluidic’ through analog technology and movements.”

Genius Loci kitchen
and the Tempting Art exhibition
Valcucine
Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi, 99
Valcucine presents the Genius Loci kitchen and the Tempting Art exhibition
Valcucine is about an all-Italian tradition linked to conviviality, quality and beauty.
The kitchen is conceived as a place where one comes together every day and shares the pleasures of
cooking and enjoying food.
The ergonomics and sustainable features of Valcucine’s kitchens are aimed at boosting the experience,
rituals and aesthetics of cooking and preparing food.
With ’Genius Loci’, the new kitchen designed by Gabriele Centazzo that Valcucine is launching at
Milan’s Fuorisalone 2015 event, the drawer is central to the kitchen experience. The kitchen system’s
innovative and original drawers are inspired by antique desks and come in a variety of different finishes,
such as distressed copper or bronze, or with hand-crafted surfaces of inlaid and carved wood or inlaid
marble. ‘Genius Loci’ also has large base units that provide greater storage capacity.
Every one of us has a ‘treasure chest’ or drawer of memories and emotions linked to eating and the
senses. The Tempting Art exhibition has been designed by Maurizio Galante & Tal Lancman to explore
the topic of food and emotions connected to food in object form. This installation includes the work of
22 architects, designers and creatives. By letting their imaginations roam free, their works are layered
with rich personal stories and emotions. This promises to be an exhibition to tantalise the senses.

Named after two traditional Japanese onomatopoeic expressions reminiscent of the sound of human
breath, FU HA * – The expression of air is a multisensory artistic platform where air is the designer.
* FU and HA remind of the sound of our breaths when air is exhaled. FU represents blowing into a
substance to cool it down and HA is about warming something up by opening our mouth widely.

25 Years Without Squeezing A Lemon
Alessi celebrates the 25th Anniversary of Juicy Salif
designed by Philippe Starck
Flagship Store Alessi Via Manzoni 14-16
During the Milan Design Week, the visitors are invited to reinterpret the lemon squeezer, which is
reproduced in giant version in the store, and to share the celebration through the social media.
To mark one of the most important trade fairs in the world of creative design, Alessi is celebrating the
25th anniversary of an iconic object and excellent example of the company’s role as artistic mediator:
the “Juicy Salif” citrus squeezer, designed by Philippe Starck in 1990.
The project’s origins have been well-documented: Alberto Alessi wished to enrich the catalogue with a
tray, a historic Alessi product type which had been part of the company’s collection since it was founded
in 1921. In particular, he wanted to see Starck’s take on this particular product, yet for some time
received no word from the French designer. Months went by until one day an envelope from the Italian
island of Capraia landed on his desk. Inside he found a paper napkin from a restaurant upon
which Philippe Starck had drawn sketches for a new citrus squeezer. Starck had been holidaying with his
family on the island and was squeezing a lemon over his plate of squid when the shape of this mollusc
provided him with the inspiration for the creation of the “Juicy Salif”.
To celebrate the anniversary of the “Juicy Salif” citrus-squeezer, two special editions have been created:
one in cast aluminium with an opaque white ceramic coating, and the other a limited edition in cast
bronze.
The former is aimed at all “Juicy Salif” enthusiasts. Its colour alludes to the designer and manufacturer’s
shared purity of intent. The white emphasises the product’s shape, setting it apart and highlighting its
iconic value.
The latter, presented by the prestigious Officina Alessi brand, is produced in bronze in an edition of 299.
Its uniqueness underlines the special artistic aura, which has always characterised this Philippe Starck
creation.

TRANSNATURAL AT SALONE DEL MOBILE 2015
Living Matter(s)
Via Giovanni Ventura, 6
Transnatural Label & Lab presents the Living Matter(s) exhibition combined with its Art and Design
collection at the Salone in Ventura Lambrate in Milan.
Living Matter(s) dives into the world of synthetic fabricated bio materials, objects and projects with
comparable qualities.
The exhibition gives an insight in applied design and its techniques to work with living materials as a
form of new craftsmanship. Living Matter(s) shows a.o. objects grown from fungus similar to natural 3D
printing, ivory made from recycled teeth, to synthetic biological breathing leaves that refresh polluted
air.
Get inspired by these new insights in using living matters in design from the 14th until the 19th of April
in the Undai Gallery, Ventura Lambrate.
Fungus as a material source that results in growing design objects, is one of the Living Matters on show.
In the ongoing research project The Growing Lab designer Maurizio Montalti explores strategies for
growing materials and making products, by implementing fungal mycelia.
The material and the products grow in a mold by a process that is comparable to a sort of natural 3Dprinting. When the research phase is finished, the first collection of fungus grown products is made for
Transnatural.
Julian Melchiorri experiments in his Silk Leaf project with another biological process: photosynthesis.
Silk Leaf can absorb water and carbon dioxide and convert it into oxygen like a plant.
This promising project could lead to a various range of small and large scale architectural and
environmental implementations.

LOGOTEL PRESENTS "NEED“
Via Ventura 15
Demography, technology, climate, geopolitics, resources, social and cultural transformations: now like
never before, change is posing real global and collective challenges, even in the individual sphere. These
challenges prompt us to analyse and rewrite our system of needs, starting from questions like “What
will we need in the future? What does the future need? Is there any point in planning and working to
needs that are no longer current?”
To answer these questions, but above all to understand how design can play a fundamental role now
and in the future in redefining and reshaping needs, service-design company Logotel
presents “NEED, When Design Empowers Human Potential” during Milan Design Week in the Logotel
space at 15 Via Ventura from 14 to 19 April.
This show – or rather, this journey to explore “needs” through myriad projects by 25 Italian and
international designers – takes different meta-design perspectives and relates them to one another. The
event presents and spotlights various dimensions of change enacted by reinterpreting or refreshing
certain types of need: individual and collective, on micro and macro scales, human or artificial, material
and immaterial, present and future. From this viewpoint on the present, in fact, it becomes increasingly
vital to broaden your horizons, to venture out there and listen, both to assimilate basic, elementary
needs that are re-emerging and to look ahead to future needs.

sharing a home, and how these unique relationships begin with a simple welcome. Visitors to the
installation in the Palazzo Crespi, will see the creations of 19 international designers who have
interpreted the concept of welcome. Guests will be invited to interact with the designers, who will be
installed in different parts of the Palazzo. From the experience of a very British tea time to the Indian
ritual of lighting copper lamps, visitors will leave with a sense of belonging to this Milanese home and

About Palazzo Crespi
Palazzo Crespi was built between 1795 and 1805, during the same period Corso Venezia was built. The
development celebrated the coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte as King of Italy in Milan’s Duomo on 26
May 1805.
At the beginning of 19th century, a banker named Prati was the owner of the building which is now
known as "Palazzo Crespi". During this period it was referred to as "Palazzetto", given its limited
proportions and its sober decoration, a feature still prevalent today on the façade facing Corso Venezia.
The Crespi family became owners of the "Palazzo" in the early years of the 20th century.

ENERGY FOR CREATIVITY
Università degli Studi di Milano
Ca’ Granda ex Ospedale Maggiore
Orto Botanico di Brera
The new Exhibition-Event of INTERNI (edition 18), ENERGY FOR CREATIVITY (13 April - 24 May 2015),
attempts to introduce and develop the themes of Expo Milano 2015 which will open in May 2015.
INTERNI will involve, in the magnificent settings of the Università degli Studi di Milano, the Orto
Botanico di Brera and a possible 3rd location in a old Palazzo of the city center, a series of internationally
renowned designers and leading companies in the field of innovation and research, to make the
FuoriSalone in Milan become an open-air laboratory ready to gather and developproposals for the city of
the future.
Expo Milano 2015 is a platform for discussion from which to launch new objectives for a sustainable
millennium, to safeguard biodiversity while protecting knowledge, traditions and entire cultures.
Feeding the Planet, providing nutrition, is undoubtedly a necessary action, but it can also be one of the
most joyful for humankind; the pleasure of the palate becomes an instrument of knowledge. The flavors
and aromas of international cuisines narrate the history and cultures of the societies of our planet.
Nourishing our body, however, also means feeding the mind with ideas, proposed solutions and
projects.
INTERNI ENERGY FOR CREATIVITY sets out to operate in this perspective, joining forces with Expo Milano
2015 in a creative synergy. Architects and designers will be asked to create temporary installations to
offer their subjective interpretations of the theme Energy for Life. In this sense, the Event for 2015 of
Interni becomes a place of experimentation for the prototyping of installations on different scales that
will continue, re-presenting their design message on an urban scale, and for the international audience
of Expo 2015, as artifacts and community resources capable of activating processes of encounter and
exchange, disciplinary synergies to nourish minds and creativity.

Lithic Digital Design
Università degli Studi di Milano
Via festa del Perdono 7
Designed by designer and curator Raffaello Galiotto, Lithic Digital Design is a reflection on marble, as
natural material that does not reproduce and which must therefore be worked by limiting the spread
and use of energy.
The new processing technologies can help, if involved in the creative process-design, the production of
elements with a strong three-dimensionality and complexity with minimal waste of resources.
The exhibition aims to highlight, through some of the works, the potential for technological excellence,
processing capacity and creativity of the Italian stone industry.
The works were carried out by seven industry leaders: Antolini, Budri, Decormarmi, Intermac, Lithos

(architect).
The goal for the Re-Inventing Shoes project is to explore and push the boundaries of the 3D printing
technology for creating shoes with the largest amount of sculptural freedom.
The production method used is the highest quality of 3D printing (Selective Laser Sintering) in a hard

Sodastream MIX + alchemy lounge
By Yves Béhar at Milan Design Week
Teatro Versace, Piazza Vetra, 7
On the occasion of milan design week 2015, sodastream unveils a revolutionary machine that is set to
disrupt the world of mixology.
Over the last several years, experimental molecular cocktail mixing has created quite a movement, with
specialized liquid laboratories opening up across the globe.
While the scientific side of mixology has been well established — extending from the techniques utilized
in molecular gastronomy — there has been very little innovation regarding new equipment, tools and
technology to further enhance this industry.
The ‘sodastream MIX’ designed byyves béhar is a response to this ever growing trend, to host more
elaborate cocktail parties on a commercial level, but also within the domestic domain.
The ‘sodastream MIX’ concept has been developed as the first appliance to carbonate, any and all
liquids — from pure fruit juices to alcoholic beverages — bringing forth a renewed cocktail experience
that intensifies the senses. the compact appliance opens up a new product category for the bar industry
and has been envisioned as a fully integrated and connected device.
As the first of its kind, the machine offers sophisticated home users and professional bar tenders
opportunities to explore and share recipes and mixology ideas with others around the globe, making the
‘sodastream MIX’ a truly social experience — set to bring forth huge opportunities for innovation,
creativity and debate revolving around ‘the future of the bar’.
After two years in development, MIX’s advanced technology has already garnered admiration from the
world’s leading beverage professionals, who believe the unrestricted use across all drink formats will
stimulate new beverage possibilities.
The MIX combines technological breakthrough with the most advanced user interface ever seen in
kitchen appliances and most importantly it allows home users & professional mixologists to create new
exciting beverages they could have not done before! this is the most innovative product sodastream has
ever put forward.’ – yaron kopel, chief innovation & design officer at sodastream
‘the MIX reveals an entire new generation of sodastream products that the company has been
developing for the last few years. its potential is tremendous and we are extremely excited to unveil it in
milan.’ – daniel birnbaum, CEO at sodastream

Youthful Stories – Storie di Ventenni
Spazio Domus
Bastioni di Porta Nuova, 9
From 14 to 19 April, Domus opens the archives of some of the most iconic designers of all times:
“Youthful Stories – Storie di Ventenni” celebrates the early careers of Alessandro Mendini, Mario Bellini,
Paolo Rizzatto, Alberto Meda, Antonio Citterio, Michele De Lucchi, Jasper Morrison, Humberto &
Fernando Campana, Konstantin Grcic and Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec.
Organised by Domus with the support of Lexus, the exhibition revisits the experiences of youth that
helped forge the personalities and map the lives of ten greats who have shaped the evolution of design.
What they designed, how they lived and what inspired the young minds of these thinkers,
experimenters and bold visionaries destined to become legends. The initial thoughts, first productions
and new intuitions of the 20th-century masters show how, in the past, young talents managed to fuel an
inner passion through relations, contacts, intellectual exchanges, study trips and early publications.
Surprising, unexpected and sometimes perplexing, these figures successfully changed points of view and
found new keys to the contemporary world.
Sharing a prodigious creative and design talent, those featured in the exhibition were discovered and
launched by Domus, some in the very years when Mendini and Bellini were at the helm – two
outstanding innovators who created and nurtured several generations of great designers.
Never previously seen objects, sounds, sketches and models, prototypes, recently recorded memories
and extraordinary archive films, thoughts, ambitions and hopes – all celebrating the fertility of youth
with a desire to inspire future generations of designers to carve out their own paths with optimism and
curiosity, embracing life and a love for this exceptional profession.

"immersive journey through a cinematic pastiche of a store“
Via Alfredo Cappellini.
London designer Lee Broom will transform a street of disused shops into a fake department store to
present 20 new products in Milan next month.
Furniture, lighting and home accessories will be presented against dark grey backdrops and props within
a series of interconnected spaces at The Department Store.
"I wanted to explore all the things that inspire me right now, from new materials, vivid colours, pop
culture, craft culture, techniques from the past and shapes from the future," said Broom. "All of which
to be housed in my very own Department Store.“
Visitors will move through spaces split over two floors, each themed to correspond with a typical
department from a large shop – including The Perfumery, Ladies' Accessories, Gents' Fitting Room, Book
Store and Haberdashery. Broom said that he was aiming to create an "immersive journey through a
cinematic pastiche of a store".
