Amangiri , «montagna pacifica», è situato su 243 ettari a Canyon Point, nello Utah meridionale, vicino al
confine con l'Arizona. Il resort è nascosto in una valle protetta, con una stupenda vista sulle colorate
stratificazioni rocciose verso il Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument. .
Il progetto dell' Amangiri Resort & Spa è una collaborazione unica tra tre architetti affermati: Marwan Al Sayed, Wendell Burnette e Rick Joy. Essi hanno creato una composizione audace ma in sintonia con il
luogo, che celebra la magia e il mistero dei maestosi picchi e delle formazioni rocciose del sud dello Utah.
Architettonicamente il resort è stato progettato per integrarsi con il paesaggio: tonalità, materiali e texture
naturali sono stati scelti in funzione del design.
Le strutture sono imponenti, in scala con le dimensioni della natura circostante, ma offrono un ambiente
intimo da cui guardare e apprezzare il paesaggio, una vallata incontaminata circondata da alte punte
rocciose.
Il Padiglione centrale, costruito intorno alla piscina principale, abbraccia con lo sguardo una teatrale
scarpata di roccia. All'interno del Padiglione trovano spazio living room, galleria, biblioteca, sale da pranzo
e cantina. Due ali portano dal Padiglione verso il deserto ed ospitano le suites e l’Aman Spa.
Amangiri offre in totale34 suite. L’ingresso di ogni suite è tramite un cortile privato che dispone di un riparo
di legno Douglas Fir; una parete di vetro con porta centrale si apre sulla camera da letto abbinata alla zona
living. Porte in vetro si aprono dal salotto verso un’ampia lounge sul deserto che incornicia la vista del
paesaggio naturale circostante. Un alto armadio in legno separa camera da letto e zona living dallo
spogliatoio. Ad un'estremità dello spogliatoio c’è un wc separato, dall’altra un ampio bagno in tonalità
verde salvia, dotato di docce gemelle a pioggia e di una vasca da bagno con vista sul paesaggio esterno.
Rubinetteria e docce sono parte della collezione Isyfresh di Zucchetti, disegnata da Matteo Thun e Antonio
Rodriguez. Finiture di design prevedono pavimenti in pietra bianca e muri in cemento che richiamano la
pietra naturale della zona. L'arredamento è caratterizzato da pelle, legni naturali e profili in metallo brunito,
abbinati a soffici cuscini di colore chiaro che aggiungono calore .
L' Amangiri Resort & Spa ha ottenuto diversi premi di design e per l’ospitalità.

Amangiri, «peaceful mountain», is situated on 243 hectares in Canyon Point, Southern Utah, close to the
border with Arizona. The resort is tucked into a protected valley with sweeping views over colorful,
stratified rocks towards the Grand Staircase – Escalante National Monument.
The Amangiri Resort &Spa project is a unique collaboration between three well-established architects:
Marwan Al-Sayed, Wendell Burnette and Rick Joy. They have created a bold yet responsive configuration
that both honors and celebrates the magic and mystery of southern Utah’s majestic cliffs and rocky
formations.
Architecturally, the resort has been designed to blend into the landscape with natural shades, materials
and textures a feature of the design. The structures are imposing and in proportion with the scale of the
natural surroundings, yet provide an intimate setting from which to view and appreciate the landscape.
Outward views look over the untouched valley surrounded by high rocky peaks.
Built around the main swimming pool, the central Pavilion embraces a dramatic stone escarpment. Within
the Pavilion are the living room, gallery, library, dining rooms and cellar. Two accommodation wings,
where suites and Aman Spa are located, lead from the Pavilion into the desert.
Amangiri offers 34 suites in total. Entry to each suite is via a private courtyard that features a Douglas Fir
timber screen. A glass wall with a central door opens to a combined bedroom and living area. Glass doors
open from the sitting area to a spacious desert lounge that frames the view of the surrounding natural
landscape. A tall timber cabinet separates the bedroom and living area from the dressing room.
To one end of the dressing room is a separate toilet room and to the other, a spacious bathroom in sage
green tone and features twin rain showers and a bathtub with uninterrupted views. Faucets and showers
are part of the Isyfresh by Zucchetti collection, designed by Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez.
Design finishes include white stone floors and concrete walls that echo the natural stone in the area. The
furniture features rawhide, natural timbers and fittings in blackened steel, while light-colored and soft
cushions add warmth.
The Amangiri Resort and Spa has won several design and hospitality awards.
