Il Gallo Nero si tinge di Viola
Chianti Classico al Vinexpo Hong Kong Chianti Classico will take part to the 2016 edition of Vinexpo Hong Kong, Asia’s most important trade-only wine and spirits show: what a better chance for the Black Rooster wines, this year Italy will be the country of honor! A unmissable occasion: Chianti Classico booth will be situated at Level 1 DE68, with ten wineries showcasing their Black Rooster wines: Badia a Coltibuono – Barone Ricasoli – Bibbiano – Castello di Fonterutoli – Felsina – Le Regge – Orsumella – Rocca delle Macie – Rocca di Cispiano – Villa Trasqua. In 2016 Chianti Classico celebrates 300 years of history since that 24th September 1716 when Grand Duke Cosimo III de’ Medici decided to issue a notice to define the boundaries of some particularly well-suited areas to the production of fine quality wines, for the first time in history. The notice was entitled: “On the Declaration of the boundaries of the four regions Chianti, Pomino, Carmignano and Vald’Arno di Sopra”, and the largest area was that between the cities of Florence and Siena, in which Chianti wine was created (now Chianti Classico). The area had already met with success in those days, which gave the far-sighted Grand Duke the idea of protecting and monitoring it. Considering that today’s notion of “classification” only dates back to the 20th century, the idea that someone thought of formalizing the success of this special blend of man, nature, product and land is quite impressive. There are no other existing areas that can boast a similar history! Chianti Classico will be also the protagonist of a Master Class, organized by Decanter Magazine and focused on new top-tier Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. The masterclass title is “Chianti Classico Gran Selezione – the new top official tier of Chianti Classico wines”, and the presenter is Decanter’s Italian wine consultant, Ian D’Agata (Tuesday 24th May, 10.00 am – room 206 at Level 2).
