I recenti progressi in terapia sclerosante hanno
rivoluzionato le indicazioni e soprattutto i risultati del
trattamento dell’insufficienza venosa degli arti
inferiori, tanto che è oggi possibile parlare di un vero
e proprio “Rinascimento” della terapia sclerosante.
La possibilità di praticare una terapia sotto guida
duplex e con agenti come la schiuma sclerosante,
permette oggi di confrontare alla pari la scleroterapia
con la tradizionale terapia chirurgica e con altre
terapie alternative.
Nell’ambito delle teleangectasie si sono pure
registrati importanti progressi. Infatti, è oggi possibile
eseguire una terapia basata sull’evidenza grazie alla
recente introduzione della spettrofotometria che
permette di operare su base oggettiva e non più
empirica. In particolare il trattamento laser delle
teleangectasie potrà essere notevolmente migliorato
dalla possibilità di definire matematicamente le
lunghezze d’onda alle quali lavorare.
Per questi e tanti altri motivi “Sclerotherapy 2003”
vuole essere un importante momento di confronto
per tutti quelli che si occupano del trattamento
dell’insufficienza venosa.
Esperti da tutto il mondo si incontreranno a Bologna
per mettere a punto la terapia delle teleangectasie e
per presentare e discutere le affascinanti prospettive
della schiuma sclerosante nel trattamento delle varici
safeniche.
Il carattere della riunione sarà eminentemente pratico
con ampio spazio alla discussione che ritengo
fondamentale perché, una volta tanto, il congresso si
svolga in funzione di chi vorrà partecipare
e
confrontarsi in un’ottica veramente costruttiva.

Recent
advances have really changed
sclerotherapy’s indications and, in particular, the
results of the treatment of venous insufficiency.
Today, it is possible to talk about a real Renaissance
in sclerotherapy for the treatment of varicose veins.
Treatments with duplex guidance and other agents,
such as sclerosing foam, enable us to make a
comparison between sclerotherapy and the more
traditional surgical and new non-surgical treatments.
Important progress has also been made in the
treatment of telangiectasias.
Today, it is possible to perform an evidence-based
treatment thanks to the recent introduction of
spectrophotometry, which works on an objective, and
not the more empirical, basis. In particular, laser
therapy of telangiectasias could be greatly improved
by the mathematical definition of the wavelengths
required for treatment.
For these and many other reasons, "Sclerotherapy
2003" is going to be an important occasion for
gathering and professional confrontation for those
involved in the treatment of venous insufficiency.
Experts from all over the world will meet in Bologna to
introduce and discuss the treatment of
telangiectasias, as well as the new and exciting
prospects for the applications of sclerosing foam for
the treatment of saphenous varicose veins.
The meeting will be focused on practical methods
and interactive discussions, thus increasing the
benefits for those in attendance interested in
participating in the most constructive way.
