As is the tradition in many parishes,
we have made available envelopes
for the November Masses for the
Holy Souls. If you want to use these
envelopes, you may write the names
for your beloved deceased family and
friends and then drop the envelope
into the collection basket – remember
to put your name and address as well
so that the donation can be noted in
our records.

cari defunti e poi questa offerta va messa d’entro il cestino
dell’offertorio, senza passare una seconda volta. Ricordate

16th. A St. Vincent de Paul
truck will be in the church
parking lot so please share what
you can with those less
fortunate. We will donate or sell
these donations to support our
outreach efforts. The truck will
be open all day Saturday and
Sunday until early evening both days. Thank you for your
continued support.
Vi avvisiamo che il camion della Società di San Vincenzo de
Paoli sarà presente nel parcheggio del nostro convento (72
Mansfield) sabato e domenica 15 e 16 novembre. Potete
preparare i vostri indumenti, scarpe, biancheria e anche
giocattoli usati ma anche puliti per aiutare i poveri. Vi
chiediamo la gentilezza di portare le vostre offerte solo in
questi due giorni – aiutate i poveri.
MARRIAGE BANNS
The Marriage between Antonio-Giovanni Fasulo and
Melissa Sue Russo will take place on November 15th, 2014
at St Francis of Assisi Church.
ONGOING PIPE ORGAN MAINTENANCE WORK
If you have a keen ear, you will have noticed the gradual
improvements being made on our pipe organ. During
November and December additional work is being
undertaken to slowly bring the organ back to its pristine
condition. Next year this instrument will be 100 years old!
We hope to have the trumpets and oboes of the organ
sounding again in time for Christmas. These 2 sets of
pipes/ranks of the organ have not functioned since about
1992. Also, we have made arrangements to have the organ
covered – the construction dust and the condition of
the plaster ceiling above it are causing it some distress – but
it will still be used to accompany our worship.
Lavori di Restauro dell’Organo a Canne
Attualmente in Corso
Se avete prestato un orecchio attento, avete notato che sono
stati eseguiti dei progressivi miglioramenti all’organo a canne.
Durante i mesi di novembre e dicembre si svolgeranno degli
ulteriori interventi di restauro all’organo per gradualmente
riportarlo alle condizione d’origine. L’anno prossimo tale
strumento compie 100 anni! Ci auguriamo che per Natale i
registri di tromba e oboe dell’organo suoneranno un'altra
volta. Questi due registri, o serie di canne, non hanno
funzionato da circa il 1992. Inoltre, l’azione delle polveri della
costruzione e la condizione dell’intonacatura del soffitto si
rivelano alquanto dannosi per l’organo, quindi sono state
prese delle precauzioni per coprirlo. Nonostante ciò l’organo
continuerà ad accompagnare le nostre Liturgie.
WE NEED YOUR HELP – CENTENARY YEAR
BOOK PROJECT
Consider joining us on Thursday, November 6th at 7pm in
the Parish Hall. A committee is being formed with the hope
of coordinating and executing a Centenary Year Book. We
hope to produce a book that will feature our history and will
also comprise of a photographic directory of all our
parishioners that make up the Parish community of Saint
Francis of Assisi.
Join us as we move forward with this project and get
ourselves organized.

LEADERSHIP FOR MINISTRY WITH
MATURING ADULTS: CREATING A VISION
This is a one day Workshop to raise awareness of a new
vision for Senior Adult Ministry. It is for those dealing with or
working with men and women in the second half of life and
for those interested in this ministry. The workshop will run
from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. – please bring a “brown bag” lunch.
The facilitator will be Sister Mary Rose Marrin CSJ, graduate
of the Johnson Institute for Spiritual Gerontology and
Maturing Adult Faith Formation. There will be two locations
for the same workshop: November 13th at St Paul’s
Basilica (83 Power Street) and November 20th at St
Margaret of Scotland Church (222 Ridley Blvd.)

Catholic Cemeteries - All Souls’ Day Mass will be celebrated
on Saturday November 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the following
cemeteries: Assumption, Christ the King, Holy Cross, Queen of
Heaven and Resurrection. The Mass will be in Italian and
English at Queen of Heaven and Holy Cross.
WOMEN’S FALL RETREAT
A weekend retreat will
be held for Women on
November 21-23 at the
Queen of Apostles
Renewal Centre, 1617
Blythe Road,
Mississauga.
The retreat will be led
by Father Peter Nowak, OMI, and Mrs Anne Hales. For those
who have not yet experienced the wonderful Country in the City

FRIARS’ STUDENT WRITING AWARD
It is time once again for the Friars’ Student Writing Award.
Students aged 14-18 are invited to write a five hundred-word
essay on the theme for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity,
celebrated January 18-25, 2015. The Theme for this coming
year is “Jesus said to her: ‘Give me a drink.’” (John 4:7).
Students should read the Scripture passage John 4:1-42 and
answer the following question in the essay:
If Jesus was able to reach out beyond his own Jewish
community, and to a woman with a questionable reputation,
what does that tell Catholics about the value of Christian Unity?
First prize is an iPad Air (16 GB), second prize is a Kobo Aura
H2O, and third to sixth prizes are a one-year subscription to
The Catholic Register and other prizes. Essays will be edited
and published in the Catholic Register. Deadline for entries is
2015.
