Six 60-metres built in seven years is no
mean achievement, particularly given the
times we’re living in. And yet Darlings
Danama really is the 6th 60-metre that
CRN has seen glide down its slips since it
launched number 1 in the series in 2005.
Built for a European owner, she is, like her
s
sisters, a full-custom steel and aluminium
displacement superyacht with a sleek,
raked bow and imposing volumes. Darlings
Danama’s waterlines bear the inimitable
stamp of Zuccon International Project
while her naval design is the work of
CRN’s technical office. Unlike her sisters,
however, her interior layout is quite
radical and was designed by French
architects Cristina and Alexandre
Negoescu. Circular lines are a leitmotif,
and their airiness epitomises a whole new
idea of comfort at sea, underscored by
fluid spaces that explode out of the blue

Eppure Darlings Danama è proprio il sesto 60 metri del cantiere Crn a scendere in acqua da
quando la numero uno venne varata nel 2005. Realizzato per un armatore europeo, come tutti gli
altri è un megayacht dislocante interamente custom in alluminio e acciaio; ha prua slanciata e
filante e volumi imponenti con ampi spazi protesi sul mare. Porta la firma dello Studio Zuccon
International Project per le linee d'acqua e quella dell'ufficio tecnico Crn per la progettazione
navale. Diversamente dagli altri, invece, ha un'impostazione degli interni davvero innovativa
pensata degli architetti francesi Cristina e Alexandre Negoescu. A bordo prevalgono le linee
circolari che con la loro ariosità rappresentano una nuova idea del comfort in mare, enfatizzato
anche dagli spazi fluidi che esplodono a sorpresa e si prolungano lungo tutte le aree, dando a ogni ambiente
un'impressione di profondità davvero impressionante. Lo stile è minimal, ravvivato da uno spirito art déco rivisitato in
chiave moderna. La scelta, più che cromatica, andrebbe definita monocromatica, dominata com'è dal rovere velato
bianco e dai tessuti nello stesso colore neutro, se si escludono dei tocchi in oro e argento, soprattutto nelle cabine, che
però sono talmente discreti da passare quasi inosservati. Tutto, a bordo, è estremamente ricercato e scelto con cura

impressive impression of depth. The style
is minimal, enlivened by a modern take on
the spirit of Art Deco. It’s not so much
colourful as monochrome, dominated by
washed white oak and fabrics in the same
neutral shades with very discreet accents
of gold and silver here and there,
particularly in the cabins. Everything
aboard is extremely sophisticated and
selected with meticulous care. Many of
the furnishings were designed directly by
the architects and then custom-made by
French artisans (this is a hint at the
owner’s nationality).
Some of the accessories – appliqués, floor
lamps and coffee tables – are works of
art in their own right and are by the great
Hervé Van der Straeten. The main saloon

guest areas. There are three areas to the
saloon. The bar with hand-laid
Marquetterie de Paille, is followed by a
sitting area which is also circular and
features white and silvery sofas. Last is
the dining area which has an oval table
capable of seating up to 14 people and
which is separated from the rest of the
saloon by a decorative folding glass
screen.
Further forward still is the owner’s suite,
which is designed as an open space and
has a mother-of-pearl screen separating
the bedroom from the bathroom (where
there’s a square Jacuzzi). It also has its
own private office and, naturally enough,
private balcony, which can even be used
under way (a real CRN trademark at this
stage).
The owner’s suite features the innovative
and incredibly high-tech new system
designed by CRN in collaboration with
Videoworks and the Università Politecnica
delle Marche, which creates an incredibly
silent ambience.
The guest quarters are completed by five
further two-berth staterooms, four of
which are on the lower deck and one, a
VIP, is on the upper deck. The latter is
also home to the bridge but otherwise is
devoted entirely to relaxation. It includes
a large cockpit with circular sofas and
large sun pad areas forward.
However, the real chill-out zone is the
beach club. Darlings Danama has a stern
maniacale. Molti dei mobili sono stati disegnati direttamente dagli architetti e poi fatti realizzare ad hoc da artigiani
francesi (il che lascia intuire la nazionalità dell'armatore); alcuni degli elementi di arredo come applique, piantane,
lampade da appoggio e coffee table sono in realtà vere opere d'arte che portano la firma di Hervé Van der Straeten. Sul
main deck si è scelto di ridurre il salone principale per privilegiare gli spazi esterni, dove è stata allestita una grande
lounge arredata con divani dai colori tenui. Concepito come un grande open space, il salone principale è particolarmente
luminoso sia per le ampie finestrature sia per le doghe di rovere bianco usate per i pavimenti che, insieme al rovere
velato degli arredi, sono il vero leit motiv di tutta la zona ospiti della barca. È idealmente diviso in tre parti: il bar, dove
svetta un bancone la cui struttura circolare è stata interamente rivestita a mano con Marquetterie de Paille, strisce di
paglia tagliate a mano e incollate una a una. Segue il salotto, anch'esso circolare e caratterizzato dai divani tutti giocati
sui toni del bianco e dell'argento e da un soffitto che riproduce la forma del sole con raggi irregolari in acciaio che
servono anche da supporto per i pannelli. Chiude la zona living la sala da pranzo, dove è stato posizionato un tavolo
ovale che può ospitare fino a 14 persone e che è separata dal salotto da un paravento in vetro decorativo. Ancora più a
prua si trova la suite armatoriale: concepita come un open space, ha una quinta rivestita in madreperla che divide la
camera dal bagno (corredato di Jacuzzi quadrata) ed è dotata di studio privato e, naturalmente, di terrazzino privato

is a spacious lounge area where guests
can relax in the shade too.
The bridge, also wonderfully circular,
needless to say, has three integrated
Sperry TotalWatch work stations with
two radars of different strengths. It also
features a fibre optic compass for the
first time.
Darlings Danama is powered by two large
Caterpillar units that allow her to make
15 knots at full throttle and cruise at an
average speed of 14 knots.
utilizzabile anche in navigazione, che è ormai il marchio di fabbrica di Crn. Da sottolineare che, proprio nella suite
armatoriale, è stato installato per la prima volta l'innovativo sistema progettato da Crn in collaborazione con Videoworks
e con l'Università Politecnica delle Marche. Si tratta di una serie di microfoni che registrano il rumore ambientale di
fondo e, generando rumore con frequenze in opposizione di fase, consentono di abbattere le onde acustiche e di avere
quindi un ambiente silenziosissimo. L'area ospiti è completata da altre cinque cabine doppie: quattro sul ponte inferiore
e la vip sul ponte superiore. E proprio quest'ultimo è un'area che, plancia di comando e suite Vip a parte, è interamente
dedicata al relax. Dispone infatti di un grande pozzetto poppiero arredato con divani circolari e di grandi aree prendisole
a prua. E al relax assoluto è riservato anche l'esclusivo beach club: la poppa di Darlings Danama ha infatti il portellone
apribile che, una volta sceso a pelo d'acqua, si trasforma in una grande spiaggia attrezzata con prendisole e utilizzabile
come solarium. Alle sue spalle, un'ampia lounge consente agli ospiti di rilassarsi anche stando all'ombra. La plancia di
comando, circolare non c'è bisogno di sottolinearlo, è basata su ponte integrato Sperry, costituito da tre macchine total
watch con due radar di diversa portata, e monta per la prima volta anche una bussola a fibra ottica. Darlings Danama è
motorizzata con due propulsori Caterpillar che le permettono di navigare a una velocità massima di 15 nodi e le
consentono una media di crociera di 14 nodi.
