CAMPER TOGETHER STORE, BOLOGNA
The first Camper Together store in Bologna is an intimate two-level space where
the lights, colors and ambiances of the Mediterranean are highlighted through
the architectural and interior design choices of Spanish designer Isabel López
Vilalta. Natural and ecological materials have been installed in their natural
original size to minimize waste. The architect wanted to interpret the essence of
the Baleares islands by using “the sand in the flooring; the blue sky floating in
space; the sun on one wall and, on the other, the sea with a shoal of red fish.”
The Camper shoes are displayed on boxes traditionally used for the almond
harvest in Mallorca.
Il primo store Camper Together a Bologna è un luogo raccolto, su due livelli,
dove le luci, i colori e le atmosfere del Mediterraneo rivivono nelle scelte progettuali e di interior della spagnola Isabel López Vilalta. Attraverso l’uso di materiali naturali ed ecologici, impiegati nelle loro dimensioni originali per ridurre
al minimo gli scarti e la produzione di rifiuti, l’architetto ha voluto interpretare in
un contesto cittadino gli scenari tipici delle isole Baleari, proponendo “la sabbia
del pavimento, il cielo azzurro che galleggia nello spazio, il sole su una parete e
sull’altra il mare, solcato da un branco di pesci rossi”. Ma non solo, le scarpe di
Camper sono esposte sopra alcune cassette di legno comunemente utilizzate a
Maiorca nella raccolta delle mandorle.

HOSTELLE, AMSTERDAM
Hostelle opened its doors on March 8th, International Women’s Day. A unique hotel-hostel especially designed for an all-female clientele (men are
not allowed beyond the common area lounge). Conceived by its founder Bianca Bransdorp, this new
hospitality destination for women offers 84 beds
and 15 rooms, some of which are private double
rooms with ensuite bathrooms, designed by various
artists and furnished in a wide range of styles and
themes: from Marie Antoinette to Chinese. With a
fully-equipped self-service kitchen, Grohe showers
and Internet and Wi-Fi service, Hostelle provides the
perfect welcome to its female guests.
Ha aperto le porte nel giorno dedicato alle donne,
l’8 marzo. È Hostelle, originale hotel-ostello rivolto a una clientela puramente femminile, in quanto
agli uomini è solamente concesso l’ingresso nella
lounge. Ideata dalla fondatrice Bianca Bransdorp,
la nuova meta dell’ospitalità olandese per il gentil
sesso offre 84 posti letto e 15 camere, di cui alcune
doppie con bagno privato, disegnate da vari artisti

HOLIDAY INN TBILISI, GEORGIA
The young Georgian architectural practice, Rooms,
has transformed a 21-story building dating back to
the Soviet era into the Holiday Inn Tbilisi inaugurated on Christmas Day in 2010. Designers Nata
Janberidze and Keti Toloraia have injected new life
into a vibrant and elegant space that boasts natural
materials, like wood used for the flooring and the
stunning stairway in the lobby, circular suspension
lamps by Form Us With Love, and Italian furnishings. In the hotel’s 126 standard, business and executive rooms you’ll find Catifa armchairs by Arper,
Steelwood Chairs designed by the Boroullec brothers for Magis in the Adjara restaurant (shown here)
headed by Michelin-star Chef Thomas Muller, and
MDF, Varaschin, Emu, iGuzzini Illuminazione,
MLE and Artemide lighting abounding throughout
the hotel, from the bar and lounge to the outdoor
swimming pool.

TANUKI TAVERN, NEW YORK
A contemporary and urban version of an izakaya, or traditional Japanese cantina, Tanuki Tavern is a new Japanese restaurant in New York designed by French
architect Charlotte Macaux Perelman. All the furniture is custom designed, mixing simple rustic furnishings with bright, floral and vintage-inspired fabrics.
Whimsical colorful hanging lamps drop down from the ceiling and capture the
attention of passersby. Opened last year, Tanuki Tavern can accommodate over
200 diners in its indoor dining room and outdoor terrace.
Interpretazione contemporanea, e metropolitana, della tradizionale cantina nipponica detta “izakaya”, Tanuki Tavern è il nuovo ristorante con cucina giapponese disegnato dalla francese Charlotte Macaux Perelman nella Grande Mela. Gli
arredi, tutti custom made, mixano gusto classico con tessuti a motivi floreali dal
gusto vintage e le divertenti sospensioni colorate che cadono a pioggia dal soffitto catturano all’esterno lo sguardo dei passanti. Tanuki Tavern, aperto lo scorso anno, può accogliere oltre 200 persone tra sala interna e terrazza esterna.

DODO STORE, MILAN
After the building in London’s Sloane Square, Paola
Navone has designed Pomellato’s store in Milan
on Corso Matteotti. Spread over three levels, the
boutique welcomes clients with a dramatic bronze
chandelier-sculpture by Dutch artist Frederik Molenschot that lights up a wall covered with red
and fuchsia flowers. On the basement level, the
romanticism of the “Dodo 100% amore” line is underscored by a polka dot wall and red ottomans by
Gervasoni surrounding a large wooden table over
which FontanaArte lamps hover. On the ground
level, an entire wall is clad in green silicone grass
facing a tufted leather alcove. Here, benches and
orange and purple hassocks provide opportunities
to sit back and relax.

imbottita con pelle capitonné. Qui, ci si può comodamente rilassare su una panchetta e pouff color
arancio e viola.

THE GRAND, AMSTERDAM
A historical jewel of hospitality, the 5-star hotel The Grand by Sofitel Legend
has been designed by Sybille De Margerie and combines French elegance with
Dutch elements. Mahogany, marble and steel surfaces are mixed with tulip and
butterfly motifs and iconic Dutch historical figures. An open and light-filled lobby
welcomes guests, while the Bridges restaurant displays a colorful mural by artist
Karel Appel. Other hotel facilities include the Or library where warm and vibrant
shades of gold recall the Dutch tradition, and the So Spa and So Fit gym fitted
with Technogym equipment. Finally, the 177 rooms have been re-designed by
De Margerie together with students from the Design Academy of Eindhoven.

della storia olandese. Accolto in una lobby aperta e luminosa, l’ospite può gustare un’ottima cena nel ristorante Bridges godendo della vista di un murales
colorato dell’artista Karel Appel e, ancora, immergersi nella lettura tra le pareti
della biblioteca “Or” le cui tonalità calde e vibranti strizzano l’occhio alla tradizione olandese oppure rilassarsi nella So Spa e nella palestra So Fit attrezzata
Technogym. Il viaggio termina poi nelle camere, 177 in totale, ridisegnate dalla
progettista francese insieme agli studenti della Design Academy di Eindhoven.

LADY TRUDY
CRN’s new 43-meter luxury yacht takes its cue
from women, and not just because of its name,
Lady Trudy. The external lines and partitioning of
the interiors were designed by Paola Galeazza Zuccon, of Zuccon International Project Studio, who
opted for a “pearl effect” gray hull, large volumes
and open outdoor spaces. White, blue, beige and
red are featured in the three cockpits along with
Mastro Raphaël cushions and Jacuzzi tubs. The
spacious indoor living areas, dining room and five
guest cabins are in an American colonial style with
white ash wood and mahogany cladding and details, while cotton and wrinkled linen characterize
the marine-themed interior furnishings. Lady Trudy
also boasts a fitness area in natural teak fitted with
Technogym equipment.

regna un’atmosfera coloniale americana: su tutti,

One of the most beautiful late Renaissance country homes in Tuscany converted into a luxurious
hospitality destination following a painstaking fiveyear renovation process, Villa Le Maschere, of UNA
Group, is nestled in the hills of the Mugello and
combines a historic spirit with contemporary design in its common areas and 65 rooms and suites.
The recently-opened wellness center, designed by
owner Milva Fusi together with other architects, including Paola Poli and Francesca Gallus, has been
developed in the ancient basements of the Villa and
features a Turkish bath, sauna, Jacuzzi, relaxation
area, herbal teas and treatment rooms with direct
access through three large arches to the two outdoor heated swimming pools. Much of the interiors
are Made in Italy, from the bespoke furniture by
Tino Sana to the Gervasoni armchairs and sofas,
to the Sky Gardens lamps designed by Marcel Wanders for Flos.

HOTEL CHATEAU MONFORT, MILAN
Once upon a time… Set in a historical building in
the heart of Milan near Piazza San Babila, the newly-opened “urban relais” Château Monfort takes
inspiration from the world of fairy tales. A castle
designed by architect Sofia Gioia Vedani, managing director of Planetaria Hotels Group, where the
furniture, materials, finishings and atmospheres
draw from an onirical repertoire. From the 77
rooms and retro-style Devon&Devon bathrooms,
to the common spaces with whimsical names like
Le Segrete (“Secrets”) and Incantesimo (“Spell
Room”), located on the underground level and reserved for business meetings and private ceremonies, the Rubacuori (“Heart-Stealer”) Restaurant,
featuring Jannelli&Volpi wallpaper, and the Mezzanotte (“Midnight”) Lounge Bar, where a precious
Eberhard&Co. clock tells time. Architect Vedani reveals that the luxury hotel pays “special attention
to guests who are sensitive to the environment and
animal protection.”
