CURRENT POSITION
2012-present:
Scientific Staff of the Marine Research and High Education Center
(MaRHE). Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, Faaf-Magoodhoo, Rep
of Maldives.
MaRHE is both a hub for research and training. The main scientific missions
of MaRHE cover marine science (specifically the ecology of coral reef
environments), tourism studies, cultural studies and environmental
geography.
Main duties: conducting fieldwork; strengthening the network among
MaRHE Center, colleges, high education institutions, business and
governments; collaborating with the scientific committee; applying for
grants; disseminating research findings; managing the intensive courses

 Workshop: Sustainable Tourism and Fragile Environments. The main
purpose of the workshop is to study the environmental, social and
cultural characteristic of the Maldivian Tourism System. A specific
focus is dedicated to the “One Island – One Resort” model and to the
national policies concerning community-based and sustainable
tourism
 Winter School: Places and Local Communities. The main purpose of
the course is understanding how local communities cope with cultural,
environmental, political and social changes within isolated
geographical context. A specific attention is given to geographical,
cultural, environmental and anthropological dimensions of the host
community

Legambiente is an Italian NGO with the aim of promoting and improving
sustainability. I was in charge of running its environmental education programme
in Lombardy. My main duties and responsibilities were: coordinating a team of
four educators; fundraising; managing projects funded by regional and national
institutions; collecting qualitative and quantitative data on education and
sustainability; editing papers and reports; representing Legambiente on regional
and national boards; managing Legambiente’s relations with other NGOs;
supervising work placements and internships.
