Born in Voghera (PV), August 20, 1948, Italian citizenship, married,
Education:
1971, July 29: Laurea in Fisica, Università degli studi di Pavia, (Italy),
110/110 cum laude.
Thesis title: "Thermore‡ectance in alkali halides" advisor: G. Samoggia.
Academic Positions:
1971-1972: Teacher Assistant of Physics for students of Engineering.
After the compulsory military service, in 1974 he got a scholarship in
Physics at the University of Pavia.
1975-1980: Contract Researcher of General Physics at the University of
Pavia.
1981-1985: Assistant Professor of Structure of Matter at the University
of Pavia
1986-present: Associate Professor of Physics at the University of Pavia
Teaching Experience
From 1978 to 2001 he has taught the full course (8 CFU) of Thermodynamics for Physics students at University of Pavia and he led the classroom
exercises of the course of Physics for the students of Geological Sciences from
1979 to 1999.
From 2002 he has been teaching the second part (Thermodynamics, 5
CFU) of the course of Mechanics and Thermodynamics for Physics students
and other courses (3 CFU) of Physics for students of Chemistry and Geological Sciences at University of Pavia.
Research Interests
Thermore‡ectance measurements investigating the optical properties of
alkali halides (1971-1973).
1
Successfull application of the intersecting-spheres model of S. Antoci, researcher at CNR, (a general approach to to the calculation of the electronic
structure of molecules and solids which adopted a one-electron local potential, an energy-independent trial function, and a cellular partition of space)
to molecules such as N2 ;H2 O and to various types of crystalline solids with
calculations of the self-consistent band structures (1974-1980).
An application of Einstein’s uni…ed …eld theory (1981). New exact solutions of the same theory and of Mo¤at’s theory of gravitation (1982-1986).
Choice of the energy-momentum tensor for the electromagnetic …eld in
homogeneous, isotropic matter (1997). A proposal for detecting Abraham’s
force by the Fresnel-Fizeau e¤ect (2000).
A proposal for a four-dimensional Hooke’s law (1999) and a macroscopic
theory for the dynamics of elastic, isotropic matter in presence of electromagnetic …elds (2000).
Quantum Physics: It was shown that the neglect of the conditional character of the probabilities in the classical model leads not only to “violate”the
Clauser-Horne inequalities, but also to contradict the very axioms of classical
probability theory (2001).
Studies on general relativity solutions: A calculation of the gravitational
pull in Bach’s two-body solution of general relativity (2001). Gravitational
singularities in the Schwarzschild solution and in the Bach’s gamma metric
(2003). The physical meaning of the "boost-rotation symmetric" solutions
(2006).
Photons in matter in general relativity (2001, 2007).
Einstein’s uni…ed …eld theory: electrostatics and con…nement (2005, 2008).
