PhD Positions - Program in Sciences & Medical Biotechnology
Joint DOCTORAL POSITION UPO-ULaval, Canada AVAILABLE
The co-tutoring position is a unique opportunity to enhance the international dimension of doctoral
studies both on individual and inter-university level.
Since 2004, a very close and fruitful collaboration has been established between our University and Laval
University, Quebec City (Canada). Thus, key feature of this program is that PhD students can carry out
their doctoral course and their research projects at the University of Piemonte Orientale and at
Laval University, Quebec City (Canada) under the joint supervision of two experts in the subject
(dr. Francesca Boccafoschi, University of Piemonte Orientale; Prof. Diego Mantovani, Laval
University, www.lbb.ulaval.ca). The subject will mainly be focused on biomaterials and tissue
engineering, in particular for cardiovascular applications, with special focus on bioreactors,
scaffolds, multi-cell co-culture and advanced applications. Interested and interesting candidate are
seek for fulfilling this exciting program, aiming to educate today the tomorrow leaders in the field.
On successful completion of the PhD course, the PhD students will be awarded two national
degrees from each institution. Selected candidate will be asked to establish an agreement between
both Universities, and the PhD (average duration is 4 years) will be carried out by spending 4 to 8
months per year, depending from the project, in the Canadian University. Scholarship available.
Salary PhD fellowships of €18.000 per year including full social security are available.
Eligibility criteria Candidates must hold an Italian “laurea specialistica (magistrale)” or a M.Sc. or
equivalent degree by October 15th, 2014
