“Diploma di laurea” degree in Physics on “The PIXE-FISAMB channel:
aspects of the experimental equipment and measures on samples”,
University of Padua, Italy (supervisors: Prof P. Mittner and Prof. E.
Schiavuta). Thesis dissertation: 110/110 “cum laude”. The work was on
nuclear physics techniques applied to the multi-elemental analysis and
was done in Physics Department of Padova and at INFN Legnaro’s National
Labs.

Development and Management of the INFN Legnaro’s National Labs
Computing Infrastructures (scientific computing and networking). From
1987 to 2009, excluding the period 1994-2000
Founder of the Padova - Legnaro’s CMS Tier2. First prototype in 2000,
2006 official CMS Tier2, 2009 official ALICE Tier2. The data analysis center
is distributed between Padova and Legnaro and linked via a 20 Gbps optical
link. The T2 is a LHC GRID enable center.
European and National GRID
developments
One of the proposer of the INFN Special Project INFN-GRID (2000) with the
responsabilty of the work package “Fabric and Mass Storage”.
Member of the European Project “Data Grid (2001-2003)” with contributions
in the work package “Fabric” .
Proposer and Project Manager of the European Project “GRIDCC (20042007), a GRID application for remote control of sensors and instruments
(including large apparatus). 10 European partners, 40 researchers, budget
of 4 Meuro.

2008 – 2009: One of the designer of the data acquisition and data analysis
system for AGATA (an European 4 gamma ray detector based on
segmented HPGe crystals) experiment
1997 – 2001: Proposer of the R&D SADIRC project to explore high speed
network technology for large size event builder to be used in LHC
experiments
1995 – 1999: Proposer and project manager of the data acquisition and
data analysis system for EUROBALL (an European 4 gamma ray detector
based on HPGe crystals) experiment. One of the first experiments using a
non-blocking fibre channel switch for event builder.
1990-1994: Proposer and project manager of the data acquisition and data
analysis system for the GASP (a national 4 gamma ray detector)
experiment. A TRANSPUTER network of about 1000 elements was used to
analyse online the data.
1989 - 1990: Proposer of the R&D TROL project to investigate the use of
TRANSPUTER technology for online data processing
1989 – 1995: One of the developers of the data acquisition and data
analysis system for the LEAR/CERN OBELIX experiment, an experiment
studying the antiproton-proton interactions
Physics Participates to several experiments working in their online systems,
contributing to the shifts and finally to the publications where he is involved.
