PROJECTS IN-PROGRESS
AETERNITAS, spaces that enclose the historical memory of a place are inhabited by white ghosts of young female bodies
immortalized as in the still lifes' compositions, souls frozen over time infinity, eternal goddesses.
The project started with a photographic dyptich dedicated to the sculpture La Maddalena Penitente (1796) by Antonio
Canova, presented in May 2009 at the Musei di Strada Nuova
Palazzo Bianco museum in Genova, the artists hometown,
with a site-specific installation near the sculpture.

ABOUT CORPICRUDI
Their video and photographic work focuses on the same quest for icy, concise, no-frills beauty that is made of contained and
ritual voluptuousness..... Harmonious, symmetric and classically beautiful elegance...In actual fact, to Samantha and Sergio,
beauty is politics: without it, good, the supreme value that once governed democratic countries could not possibly exist, as it
is something that we should rediscover as a benchmark of our thoughts, towards the attainment of a new concept of beauty.
(Luca Beatrice, extract from Corpicrudi. Lux Aeterna catalogue)
"Their creatures are the vestal virgins of the new millenium: immaculate young girls dressed in white and bearing the burden
of a new beauty...glacial and imperceptible...A return to the origins of beauty, stripped bare of all artificiality and deception."
(Luca Beatrice, extract from Secret identities. Enigma in contemporary photography: ConiglioViola, corpicrudi, Fratelli
Calgaro catalogue)
Primo toccare, the title of the new ballet by Matteo Levaggi....is a dance quite purified, in white costumes, eager for space in
a garden of light behind a glass sarcophagus showing inside a silver skull and candid lilies. This essential decor is conceived
by corpicrudi - i.e. raw bodies - the name chosen by artists Samantha Stella and Sergio Frazzingaro, in order to leave full
transparency to the movement bursting on stage, while paradoxically during the performance two girls-models completely
dressed in white enter into big glass boxes put upstage keeping themselves absolutely still all the time until the end." (Elisa
Guzzi Vaccarino, extract from "Primo Toccare", Ballettanz magazine)
"In a futuristic scene that leads us far from the real reminding of some elements from the art of the past ..... Space, as the
light, is milky, white on white .... In the central box there are a few items, a silver skull and some cut flowers: a vital image that
is reminiscent of the Seventeenth century Vanitas paintings. Two models will enter in the other two boxes keeping
themselves frozen, similar to the women of Vanessa Beecroft. ... The deliberately painted beauty of the vision also has a
voice in the composition whith is set out with a sort of indifference to the frozen and, at the same time, vigorous relations
between the bodies. " (Francesca Pedroni, extract from "Primo Toccare", Il Manifesto)
In the delicate equilibrium between performance, photography and video, the cross-cutting research of corpicrudi is
essentially aesthetic, a sort of extremism which, from its origin in the 90s, appears today as a crystallized form with infinite
variations. The principal scope is a mise-en-scène that defies any narrative effort...The images, the music, the body language
and even the scenarios, the positioning of the actors, the cuts, the framing, the perspectives, the highlighting or shadowing
of details
contribute to form a mood which the contemporary art lover won t find it difficult to identify (echoes of Vanessa
Beecroft and above all of Annika Larsson...) . (Luca Beatrice, extract from Corpicrudi. Beautiful Untrue People catalogue)
