The Ionian Sea and Mount Etna, in all their
grandeur, characterize the view from Case
Perrotta.
The sea, a limitless source of life and pleasure,
instills a feeling of serenity, and is an irresistible
attraction.
From Taormina and the Isola Bella to the pebbly
beaches
of
Cottone
and
Fondachello
at
Fiumefreddo, from Pozzillo’s black rocks in
Acitrezza to the 25km of Catania’s sandy Plaja, all
these are within easy reach so that you can cool
down in crystal clear waters, soak up the summer
sun or enjoy winter-time walks along the strand.
Access to the coast is free. Even when the ‘lidos’
spread out along the beaches and rocks, there will
always be a passage guaranteeing free access to
the shore.
In the summer local Councils often put up wooden gangways
and platforms for bathers to use free of charge, some
equipped with showers.
You can relish the splendid view of the land as seen from
fishing-boats that guide you in excursions along the coast
from the Riviera dei Ciclopi to Taormina.
We will divide the coast up, as it appears from Case Perrotta,
into five stretches that are all very different from one another,
but are all within easy reach at any time of the year, so you

AGRITURISMO RIVIERA dei CICLOPI:
CATANIA - ACICASTELLO ACITREZZA - CAPOMULINI
The Riviera dei Ciclopi (Cyclops), named
after the mythological legend of
Polyphemus throwing stones (today’s
Faraglioni) at Ulysses, begins in Catania
from the small harbour of Ognina. At Aci
we see the Castello (castle) overlooking
it on the sheer cliff face, followed by the
lovely Acitrezza of Verga. The Riviera
ends at a Capo (cape), called ‘Mulini’
(mills) because once powerful rivers fed
the many mills there. These waters were
then submerged, and are now in
underground caverns, by the lava in the
fifteenth century that flowed down from
Etna to capture some of the sea and
created today’s black rocky beach.
LA TIMPA: ACIREALE – SANTA TECLA – S. M. LA SCALA
The Timpa, from Capomulini to S. Tecla, is a striking plateau
that falls sheer to the sea, on which the town of Acireale rests.

AGRITURISMO STAZZO – POZZILLO TORRE ARCHIRAFI - RIPOSTO
From Stazzo to Pozzillo, the charming fishing
harbour, another tongue of lava plunges into the
sea and stretches on before emerging again to
create an upland that then slopes down to the
centre on the small beach of Praiola, carrying to
the delightful seaside village of Torre Archirafi,
which again is on a strip of lava and comes
before the charming Port of Riposto.
FONDACHELLO - FIUMEFREDDO
After the port of Riposto, a long pebbly
beach begins, with glittering crystal clear
waters: Fondachello, the Oasi di Fiumefreddo
and its river mouth, right up to Recanati.

AGRITURISMO TAORMINA – NAXOS – LETOJANNI
This stretch from Recanati to Letojanni, passing through
Taormina and l’Isola Bella, whose evocative views and indented
coastline needs no further description from us.
Besides summer bathing you can do the following:
Diving Courses at the small harbour of Stazzo, at the Marina di Riposto, and
at Taormina.
Fishing-boat Trips along the coast from Acitrezza to Taormina.
Fishing, at night time too, on fishing boats at Acitrezza.
Catamaran trips along the coast from the Marina di Riposto.
Catamaran Hire with a Skipper for a few days from the Marina di Riposto.
Dinghy Hire: from the small harbour of Stazzo, from the Marina di Riposto,
and from Giardini (Taormina).
