L’acqua è un bene essenziale per la vita. Non possiamo farne a meno nemmeno per poche
ore. L’acqua è un bene così prezioso che una delle prime conquiste del progresso è proprio
quella di portare l’acqua nelle abitazioni. L’acqua che scorre dai nostri rubinetti è in genere
definita “potabile”, ma a causa del suo sapore e dei residui che si depositano durante il suo
percorso preferiamo spesso acquistare acqua in bottiglia, con grande dispendio di denaro e
danno per l’ambiente.
L’acqua in bottiglia, oltre a essere costosa, ha un forte impatto ambientale per via dei
contenitori, in genere di plastica, e del suo trasporto. Spesso l’acqua che troviamo al
supermercato ha percorso centinaia o addirittura migliaia di chilometri prima di arrivare a
casa nostra! In aggiunta la lunga permanenza in contenitori di plastica, specialmente se lo
stoccaggio non avviene in modo corretto, può essere causa di contaminazioni pericolose.
Water is essential to life. We can not do without it, even for just a few hours. Water is
so precious that one of the essential requirements for progress is that of bringing water
into people’s homes. The water that flows from our taps is usually referred to as “drinking
water”, but due to the way it tastes and the residues that it accumulates along the way,
many prefer to purchase bottled water, thus resulting in significant expenses, as well as
potential damage to the environment. In addition to being expensive, bottled water also
has a significant impact on the environment due to the necessity for transport and the use
of plastic containers. The water found at the supermarket often travels hundreds or even
thousands of kilometres before it gets to our homes! What’s more, its lengthy storage
in plastic containers can result in potential contamination hazards, above all if not done
properly.
