Abrigo’s 2003 Barbaresco Montersino, from a vineyard in Treiso, is one of the
surprising wines of the vintage. Made in a big, powerful style, it opens with
dark, brooding aromas of tar, licorice and earthiness that are followed by
generous amounts of super-ripe dark fruit with notable intensity as well as
personality. This masculine, backward Barbaresco will require at least a few
years of patience. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2015.

expression of scorched earth, tar, smoke and dark fruit on a large-scaled
