THE SVDP SOCIETY THANKS YOU!
Thank you for your most generous response to the
appeal for the poor at Christmas time. Thanks to all
those who so generously made up Christmas Baskets, as
well as those who made donations to the SVDP
Christmas Collection. A great big “thank you” also goes
out to our SVDP Society who always work tirelessly, but
especially during this season, to organize and coordinate over 100 baskets of food, toys, socks, etc…
that were delivered last Saturday! Thank you to our
volunteer drivers who gave of their time!

CHRISTMAS COLLECTION
Envelopes for our annual Christmas Collection may be
picked up at the back of the church. We appreciate
your continued support as we strive to keep St.
Clare’s a welcoming and active community!
2015 Offering Envelopes
You may still pick up your new offering envelopes
from the Hall foyer. Simply make your way down
after Mass. Please note that your envelopes are
arranged in numerical order. If you’re not currently
using envelopes, but would like to start, please drop
into the Parish office anytime during the week to
register. Thank you for your support!
Christmas Tree Sale
Thanks to Louie from Miceli’s Garden
Centre, located near the Dufferin Mall,
who so generously donated the
beautiful Christmas Tree you see in our
church.
We’d also like to remind you that because of space
constraints, the Christmas Tree people who used to
sell trees by our lot on St. Clair have moved the No
Frills lot off of Alberta Ave. As usual, part of their
proceeds go to the Out of the Cold program at St.
Matthew's United Church, at 729 St. Clair Ave. W. just
west of Christie.
I am happy to be celebrating my first Christmas here with

you at St. Clare. Since I took over as pastor on July 3 ,
there have been many construction issues to take care of
but the growth of our faith community has been so hopeful.
This time of year, we remember Jesus as a child born into
our history and the love that God the Father has for each
and every one of us.
I remember my mother telling me when she first came to
Canada from Italy in 1957 and her first Christmas was
celebrated here at St. Clare. She tells me when they came
for midnight mass they walked from the house where they
were renting on Ellsworth and all the houses where
decorated, the church was decorated so beautifully and
she and my grandparents felt so welcomed.
I am sure that St. Clare holds so many past memories and
new memories for newly arrived immigrants and
parishioners. May you have a Blessed Christmas and a
Happy New Year.

Un Messaggio dal Parroco:
Sono lieto di celebrare il mio primo Natale qui a S. Chiara
insieme a voi. Dal 3 luglio, da quando ho preso l’incarico
come parroco, ci sono state parecchie riparazioni da fare,
ma con la crescita della fede della nostra comunità, mi
sento pieno di speranza.
In questo periodo Natalizio, ricordiamo Gesù bambino nato
per noi, e quanto amore Dio nostro Padre ha per ognuno di
noi. Ricordo mia mamma che ci raccontava della sua
esperienza al suo primo arrivo in Canada nel 1957, e che il
suo primo Natale l’ha celebrato proprio qui a S. Chiara.
Dalla casa in affitto su Ellsworth, dove abitava con i suoi
genitori, camminò a piedi per la messa di mezzanotte,
Tutte le case erano ben decorate, così come la nostra
chiesa. Tanto è vero che si sono subito sentiti ben accolti.
Sono sicuro che ci sono tanti bei ricordi qui a S. Chiara e
così continuerà per i nuovi emigrati e parrocchiani. Vi
auguro un Santo Natale e Buon Capo D’Anno.

Paoli, che ha lavorato assiduamente, specialmente durante questo

calzetti e regalini. Grazie anche all’autisti che si sono prestati
sabato scorso per consegnarli.
