With the strength of aesthetic tradition which combines the concept of elegance with that of simplicity, COVO,

conquering the attention of an ever more vast public thanks to the unceasing serch for a point of balance, in real
and not apparent terms.
Forte di una tradizione estetica che associa il concetto di eleganza all’idea di semplicità, COVO, un DNA tutto
italiano e radici internazionali, si è reso perfetto interprete di questo binomio, sviluppando un linguaggio
autonomo e fortemente riconoscibile, capace di coniugare tra loro tradizione e contemporaneità, classicismo e design
d’avanguardia. Muovendo i primi passi attraverso il rigore di forme e segni esportati dall’Oriente, caratterizza la
sua produzione rimanendo fedele alle origini e arricchendola progressivamente di nuove e continue sollecitazioni
provenienti dal mondo del design. Con sguardo attento e sensibile si fa promotore di una ricerca che passa dall’utilizzo
sapiente dei materiali alla selezione lungimirante di produttori di livello internazionale. Editore illuminato, capace
di dare corpo alle voci dei designer, non rinuncia a volte a spingersi, con audacia e spirito ironico, sul terreno della

VISUAL CODE
Tornano le “cose non comuni” di COVO ad arricchire il “dizionario” del design. Oggetti semplici e sapienti, fatti di
pochi segni ma capaci di restare nella memoria. Nella satura condizione contemporanea, siamo sempre più circondati
da un mondo di “cose”.
Cose concrete e cose astratte, cose reali e immaginarie, cose sacre e cose profane, cose che servono e che non servono,
cose buone e cose cattive. Il Design si occupa di queste cose e può farlo in molti modi: ripensando, inventando,
copiando, rivestendo, giocando o prendendosi sul serio. Oppure, come cerca di fare COVO, osservando. Osservando il
mondo di “cose” che ci circonda e provando a immaginare nuove presenze che vadano a prendere posto negli spazi
vuoti della nostra immaginazione. Oggetti nati dunque dall’attenta esplorazione del paesaggio materiale, pensando
al nostro mondo come ad un foglio pieno di segni che troppo spesso si confondono, perdendo ogni loro significato…
E come succede nei disegni dei bambini, o nei graffiti preistorici (infanzia stessa dell’umanità), dove poche linee
descrivono mondi e storie, le “cose non comuni” di COVO provano a regalare semplicità, cancellando la confusione e
riportando i significati all’emozione più che alla ragione. E dunque ecco che tra attaccapanni come rami, tavoli come
siepi, sedute come prati in fiore, ma anche poltrone che abbracciano, lampade “magiche” che crescono, portafoto
come fili tesi al vento e cristalli morbidi, il nostro mondo di “cose” diventa un mondo di “segni”. Semplici “segni”, in
bianco e nero o a colori, che come codici emozionali riempiono il foglio bianco dei nostri spazi.
E le “cose non comuni” di COVO sono oggetti autonomi, capaci di relazionarsi con tutti i nostri paesaggi, ma sono
anche frasi di uno stesso racconto, il racconto di COVO.
The “not common things” by COVO return to enrich the design “dictionary”. Simple and wise objects made of few
signs, but capable of being remembered. In the contemporary saturated condition, we find ourselves surrounded
more and more by a world of “things”. Material and immaterial things, real and imaginary things, sacred and
unholy things, things which are useful and things which are not, good and bad things.
The Design takes care of these things and can do it in many ways: rethinking, reinventing, copying, covering,
playing aroundor being serious. Otherwise, like COVO tries to do: by observing. Observing the world of “things”
which surrounds us and trying to imagine new objectswhich will take their places in the empty spots of our
imagination. Objects born therefore, from the careful exploration of the material landscape, thinking of our world
as a sheet full of signs which too often are confused, and loose their meaning…. As it happens in children’s
drawings, or in prehistoric graffiti (humankind’s own infancy), where few lines describe worlds and stories; the “not
common things” by COVO try to offer simplicity, erasing confusion and focusing on emotion rather than reason.
Therefore, between clothes hangers resembling tree branches, tables like hedges, chairs like flowering fields, seats
that embrace, “magic” lamps that raise, photo frames like strings stretched on the wind and soft crystals, our world
of “things” becomes a world of “signs”. Simple “signs”, in black and white or in colours, which like emotional codes
fill the blank sheet of our gaps. The “not common things” by COVO are autonomous objects,capable of relating with
all our landscapes, but are also phrasesof a story, the story of COVO.

Alfred is not a usual chair, it fits in every part of
the house: in a hallway, in a bedroom, and even in
a fitting room. Thanks to small details it becomes a
perfect clothes hanger: the hook at the top can
accommodate a belt, a tie or a scarf; the cross-bar is
for hanging clothes, while the ground plane is useful

The Birds On Wire coat rack borrows its shape from, well, birds on a wire. Every day on his commute into New
York City, the designer passes under wires filled with hundreds of birds. He sought to capture this beautiful sight
in a product. A photograph was abstracted and turned into a laser cut metal outline with hooks for coats. Birds On
Wire is one part victorian silhouette, one part Flintstones flashback, and one part functional addition to any home.

The bloated series was inspired by the image of a prominent midriff being constrained by a belt. The stools consist
of leather sheets filled with expanded foam. Each takes on a slightly different shape from the next as the leather
forms its way around the wooden support. The flexible skin with its gentle curve contrasts with the rigid
supporting structure, showcasing perfectly the qualities of each material.

The surface decoration can then reach the
level of the naive popular imagery which, in
the ancient South, has always adorned the dark
corners of old crowded alleys , or the forgotten
hidden recesses of immense labyrinthine
dwellings.
So today this meeting of styles, planned with
a renewed attention to detail, brings back into
prominence a simple and primitive basic
design: a seat in the shape of an elegant stool,
carefully adapted, can become a useful shelf,
a functioning bookcase or a small showcase.
Both style and function are discovered in an
intelligent and articulate retrieval of memory,
in which the hidden colour lightly inlaid on
the inside of the stool lends a discreet radiance
to the richly designed new surface which
elegantly inks in the simple outline of the
plain wood.
I decori che costituiscono la sua pelle attingono all’iconografia ingenuamente popolare di immagini che, nel Sud più
antico, da sempre hanno illuminato gli angoli bui di vecchi vichi affollati , o i recessi nascosti e dimenticati di case immense e labirintiche. Nordico Verace riporta alla luce un semplice e primitivo archetipo, una seduta dalla forma gentile
di sgabello, che però, accortamente accostato, diviene un utile scaffale, una funzionale libreria, un piccolo espositore. Un
intelligente e articolato scavo della memoria, dove il segreto colore leggero, laminato all’interno dello sgabello regala un

A series of lanterns with metal white painted structure
and covering in pleated fabric (fireproof polyester
treated with H2O resin).
The lampshades are ‘dressed’ on the metal structure, thanks to the elasticity of the fabric.

with cut/stitch edging and contrasting coloured
cord.

SML
SML are three side tables in small, medium and large
size, made in powder coated steel. Due to table tops in
punched metal sheet you do have wonderful moiré
effects by nesting these tables partly or completely on
top of each other. The SML version in white works best
on dark carpets and wooden floorings.
