For the swimmer it is possible to increase the speed increasing the propulsive force or reducing the resistant force with the improvement of hydrodynamics of the position. Is difficult increase the force, or the power of the athletes, with swimming training while, on the other hand, an obtained muscular training in “dry-land”, places to the coaches the problem of its real effects in swimming propulsion (Neufer 1987, Tanaka 1993). Methods of “dry-land” training are known, one of more used has been introduced from Gilles Cometti (Cometti 1988, Cometti 1990), but there are not scientific evidences that can demonstrate the effectiveness. Objective of this study is verify if an increment of the obtained muscular potentialities with the Cometti Method can be cause of effects improvement in the swimming propulsion. For the direct measurement of the propulsive force in water, swimmers will be tested by tethered semi-tethered methods, known in literature like methods in a position to verifying an increment of the performance (Hooper 1998, Mitchell 1993). Materials and methods: Swimmers, regional master, will be selected with a regular background of swimming training and in a start-list on the National Race (~10 testers, ~10 control group). Testers will be trained with a “Cometti Method” training protocol and the “transfer” to water will be misurated. All the subjects will be tested with 2 sequences of tests, before the training protocol, during and after the term of the period: 1) Dry-land, with evaluation of the force and the power in the main muscular groups of the kinetic chain of the crawl swim 2) In the pool, with a crawl swim, with tethered test of 15” (Yater 1981, Dopsaj 2000); semi-tethered test (Shinoja 1999) and swim of 15m to max the speed. The acquisition of the data will be carried out by Portable dynanometer PCE-FM1000 connected to elastic cable for the refrained swim. For the appraisal of the semi-tethered swim a brake to “calibrated resistence” constituted from an electromagnetic brake, connected in series a transducer of force traction/jam miniaturized from 500 N (Tecsis F2220) and an amplifier /datalogger (Tecsis E3907) for the data. The datalogger will be connected to a PC via RS-232 for the monitoring in real time of the cargo by a LabView software. For the swim speed they will be recorded the central 15m between 25m pool, at best of 3 tests. All the times will be determined with video analysis Hi-Speed 1000 f/s. The group of control swimmers will carry out the same training in swimming pool but not the additional program to dry-land. Statistical analysis in the 2 groups will reported with the relation of the test of Student for braces of values verifying eventual significance level of α=0.05 Expectations: This study would have to demonstrate the effect of the transfer of the dry-land training on the effective improvement of the swimming speed and also the improvement of the performances. The obtained information could be used with the applicative training-course to the coaches and the training methodologies.
