RIONE JUNNO revives old traditions through their energy
and sound. Since 2002, Rione Junno embodies the sounds
of the Southern Italian musical tradition derived from
the region of Gargano in Puglia. The video for their first
single, entitled “Figlia Figlia,” is filmed against the ancient
Gargano city backdrop. The band followed in the footsteps of the legendary Eugenio
Bennato and his “Taranta-power” movement. Their music greatly reflects a history,
which is deeply rooted in the southern parts of Italy. With a strong focus on the music,
songs, dance, and instruments of southern tradition, Rione Junno serves up a unique
mix of folklore, alternative, and contemporary melodies that are both intoxicating
to watch as are its rhythms hypnotic and entertaining to listen and dance to for all
generations. See Rione Junno perform on the mainstage at Palmerston
and College, Saturday September 4th and Sunday September 5th.
GIADA VALENTI The talented Giada Valenti, a Venetian born singer,
songwriter, and broadway actress, will dazzle you with her wonderful
stage presence and beautiful voice. Touring with a band by the age of
12 and eventually earning a music degree at the G.Tartini in Trieste,
Italy, Giada began to spend more time in the United States where
she was gaining more recognition. In 2008, she was named Woman
of the Year by the Organization of Italian Charities in America. In
2010, Giada received an award from the Order of the Sons of Italy in
America in recognition of her achievements in the Italian community.
Giada has worked with producers like Sonny Grosso and fourteen-time
Grammy winning record producer Phil Ramone. See Giada light up
the stage on Sunday September 5 on the mainstage at the corner of Palmerston and College Streets!
