EDISON: NEW CHALLENGES FOR THE OLDEST EUROPEAN POWER COMPANY Edison is Europe’s oldest power company and one of Italy’s energy market key players. For 130 year Edison has always been active in the energy industry, making a strong contribution to the development of Italy’s industrial structure. Today Edison is controlled by Electricité de France (EDF) a stable and solid Shareholder, committed to its development and growth, both in Italy and abroad. In addition to Edison’s traditional power business, the Company will play an increasingly important role in hydrocarbons sector, in which in the past decades it developed an expertise of international level. A threefold mission now awaits Edison: to consolidate its presence in Italy in order to remain the most credible challenger of former monopolies; to develop its power generation know-how also abroad, in the Balkans and the Mediterranean area; to become the Group’s hydrocarbon platform. Within this framework Edison will play a key role since gas will remain a strategic pillar for security of supply in the long term. Specifically, Edison’s task will be to develop its hydrocarbon portfolio through investments in Exploration and Production both in Italy and abroad, in order to increase and rebalance its own reserves and productions. But Edison will also continue to exploit through strategic infrastructural projects the unique geographical position that Italy has along gas routes, contributing to the diversification, the security and the competitiveness of Europe’s supplies. In summary, Edison will keep strong Italian roots investing one billion euros in Italy over the next three years, and will become ever more international. Edison has the responsibility to develop its projects identifying shared solutions, in compliance with environment protection principles, through dialog with local communities and transparent communication. “ Giambattista Retegno “ Building a plant is not just a technical endeavour, which in a way is no different from any other work; in actual fact, it is the realization of an idea that from a single intuition and with the contribution of many people develops into a project and finally becomes a concrete tangible undertaking. Each project is therefore a reality by itself, an extraordinary and unrepeatable experience, the result of the ability to identify the potential, to organize and make use of competences, bringing out the professional capabilities and demanding the tenacity and dedication of those who take part in the challenge. The success of the initiatives we had the opportunity to carry out at Edison over the years is the result of a collective and coordinated action which is never taken for granted, originating from a common effort which is never easy to compose. In describing our organization, the long list of studies and proposals carried out, as well as the numerous projects that have been completed, I wish to highlight the efforts undertaken and to underline how both teamwork and the commitment of each and every one are keys to ensuring success and the path towards excellence. “ Giambattista Retegno 11 Ingegneria, su richiesta dei clienti interni (Direzioni e Business Unit) predispone i seguenti servizi/prodotti: 12 Edison Engineering, upon request of internal customers (Management and Business Units) it develops the following services / products: Studi di fattibilità Feasibility studies Preventivi Estimates Documentazione tecnica a supporto processi autorizzativi primari (progetti di massima/autorizzativi) Technical documentation to support the primary authorization processes (authorization/ preliminary projects) Progettazione di base Basic design Proposte di investimento Investment proposals Realizzazione investimenti (progettazione esecutiva, emissione richieste di approvvigionamento, gestione ordini, programmazione e gestione cantiere) Investment implementation (design, issuing of (inclusi impianti offshore e onshore) Fornitura servizi di ingegneria e/o supervisione lavori Supply of engineering services and/or supervision of construction works (offshore and onshore plants included) Due diligence (per acquisizioni e valutazioni progetti) Due diligence (for acquisitions and project evaluations) Documentazione tecnica per contratti EPC e EPCI Technical documentation for EPC and EPCI contracts Gestione contratti EPC e EPCI EPC and EPCI contract management Owner Engineering Owner Engineering procurement requests, order management, planning and site management) AREE DI COINVOLGIMENTO OPERATIVO Nuove centrali termoelettriche Revamping centrali termoelettriche esistenti Nuove centrali idroelettriche Revamping centrali idroelettriche ed opere accessorie Linee elettriche in alta tensione e stazioni elettriche Realizzazione centri di teleconduzione e telecontrollo centrali/stazioni elettriche Fonti rinnovabili (eolico/fotovoltaico/biomasse) Efficienza energetica Reti di trasporto gas e stazioni di compressione per campi di stoccaggio Interconnessioni internazionali (gasdotti terrestri/sottomarini e linee elettriche) Stazioni di rigassificazione e liquefazione gas naturale Infrastrutture del settore Oil&Gas da testa pozzo al mercato Engineering Operational areas OF involvement New thermoelectric power plants Revamping of existing thermoelectric power plants New hydroelectric power plants Revamping of hydroelectric power plants and auxiliary works High voltage lines and electrical substations Realization of remote control and monitoring systems for power plants / substations Renewable sources (wind power / photovoltaics / biomass) Energy efficiency Gas transportation network and compression stations for storage fields International interconnections (underground/subsea gas pipelines and electrical lines) Regasification and liquefaction stations Infrastructures of Oil&Gas sector from wellhead to market 13 LA STRUTTURA ORGANIZZATIVA ORGANIZATION In the Company organizational chart, Engineering reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
