Paesi. Questi i numeri della quinta edizione del premio internazionale bandito
dalla rivista canadese Azure. Che ha visto
in giuria personaggi come Winka Dubbeldam di Archi-Tectonis (New York), Brendan
MacFarlane di Jakob MacFarlane (Parigi),
Anwar Mekhayech di Design Agency (Toronto), Janet Rosenberg dello studio Janet
Rosenberg & Studio (Toronto) e Philippe
Malouin (Londra). Chiamati a confrontarsi su una rosa di interventi che spaziano
dall’architettura commerciale a quella del
paesaggio, passando per gli interni, il landscape e il lighting design. (Ricordiamo che
la competizione è aperta a professionisti e
studenti attivi in tutti i campi del progetto).
Ne è risultata una shortlist di 66 lavori finalisti, scelti tra le diverse categorie in gara,
tutti ugualmente rappresentativi delle principali tendenze in atto e dello stato dell’arte della disciplina. Da cui sono poi emersi
diciannove vincitori, capaci di rappresentare l’eccellenza ad ogni latitudine (fisica e
dell’immaginazione). Tra questi, segnaliamo: l’Haffenden House di New York dei
PARA-Project (Migliore Architettura Residenziale); il Pani Community Centre di Rajarhat, in Bangladesh, degli SchilderScholten (Migliore Architettura Commerciale e
Istituzionale al di sotto dei 1000 metri); il
June Callwood Park a Toronto, Canada, dei
GH3 (Migliore Architettura del Paesaggio);
Casa G di Francesco Librizzi a Siracusa,
Italia (Migliore Interno Residenziale); la seduta Kinesit di Lievore, Altherr Molina per
Arper (Miglior Prodotto di Design); le lampade Wireflow di Arik Levy per Vibia (Migliore Prodotto di Illuminazione); il prototipo Robotic Infiltrations di Andrei Gheorghe
(Miglior Concept); il progetto Toigetation a
Cai Bang, in Vietnam, degli H&P Architects
e il Fogo Island Inn a Newfoundland, Canada, dello studio Saunders Architecture
(Migliori Architetture per il Bene Sociale).

A total of 720 studios from 43 countries
- these are the numbers registered for
the fifth edition of the international prize
for a competition run by the Canadian
journal, Azure. Members of the jury
included well-known creatives such as
Winka Dubbeldam of Archi-Tectonis
(New York), Brendan MacFarlane of
Jakob MacFarlane (Paris), Anwar Mekhayech of Design Agency (Toronto), Janet
Rosenberg of studio Janet Rosenberg &
Studio (Toronto) and Philippe Malouin
(London). They were invited to examine
projects that spanned from commercial architecture to landscape designs,
interiors, and lighting design. (The
competition was open to professionals
and students operating in all areas of
design). A short-list of 66 projects was
compiled with the designs selected from
the various competition categories, all
representing the main trends of the
moment and reflecting the state of the
art of the discipline. Nineteen winners
were nominated and together they
represented design excellence at every
latitude (both physical and imaginary).

Haffenden House in New York by PARAProject (Best Residential Architecture);
the Pani Community Centre in Rajarhat,
Bangladesh, by SchilderScholten (Best
Commercial/Institutional Architecture,
measuring less than 1000 sq.m.; the
