Vantaggi, subito - Il sistema comprende un controllo di movimento MC216 Control Techniques, con capacità fino a sedici assi, otto servoazionamenti M’Ax To increase the productivity of a packaging line for fish fingers, Youngs Bluecrest Seafood has chosen the M’Ax servosystem with Control Techniques SLM technology. At full tilt Youngs Bluecrest Seafood (timehonored British producer of fresh foods and frozen seafood) features a case history that shows all the advantages of Control Techniques’ M’Ax servosystem with SLM technology, applied to a fish fingers packaging line. As Stuart Baker, production technician of the UK concern told us, «the line picks up the frozen fishfingers and packs them fifty at a time, in five cardboard boxes. Beforehand all operations were done by hand, with 136 • 5/07 ad asse singolo e otto Unimotor con tecnologia SLM. To increase productivity and cut costs, we decided to build and install a completely automatic machine, choosing a Control Techniques M’Ax servosystem with four line SLMs, that convinced us for its flexibility and programming ease as well as much reduced cabling». able to allot the other fourteen to other tasks in the works. This means saving around 180,000 pounds sterling a year, while also considering the increase in capacity of the line; beforehand it was a “bottleneck”, with a max production of 1.2 t/h, while now, with staff halved, we are close on 1.7 t/yr for all products». Advantages, straight away - The system comprises a Control Techniques MC216 movement control, with capacity of up to sixteen axes, eight M’Ax single axes and eight SLM technology Unimotor servodrives. «To reduce the need for spare parts, we chose a single servodrive and motor power class, and now - Baker goes on - the working times of the system have gone from twelve to twenty hours a day; the line is only staffed by thirteen, we were Simplicity and savings - To simplify the engineering design of the machines, three to six coupled axes were used, or that is two servomotors on each shaft. The general control of the system has been entrusted to the Control Techniques MC216 modular movement controller, expandable up to 16 axes with the addition of a secondary board. With the high speed multiaxial control (1 ms per axes), the MC controller is capable of managing the control of the cam and complex profiles and acceleration/deceleration variants for any type of retroaction. As well as that a reduced cabling obtainable with the use of SL Unimotor linked to an M’Ax drive allows the customer appreciable savings. The whole system costs less compared to other equivalent servodrives and requires reduced installation times. «SLM technology was decisive for choosing the Control Techniques system - Baker explains: not only has it simplified the system installation Baker goes on - but with its efficient diagnostics functions it enables the reduction of maintenance times. We followed a two day long course and it is enough to learn the use of the system, even if we can always count on an excellent assistance from the Telford Drive Centre. That is to say, the simplicity of use of the system has struck everybody». Automation & Controls Camera for optical inspection Image S (Mariano Comense, CO) has announced the extending of the series of Dalsa Stop Action cameras with two new Falcon 4M30 and 4M60 models. Falcon 4M60 SA offers 4 megapixel resolutions with speeds up to 62 fps (photograms per second) and 8 or 10 bits. The same performance for the 4M30, with speed at 31 fps. The advanced CMOS sensor, also made by Dalsa, is “global shutter” for capturing images that are always crystal clear of fast moving objects. The new technology sensor carries out an automatic reduction of the “Fixed Pattern Noise”, guaranteeing a quality (in terms of SNR) similar to if not above an analogous CCD. Thanks to the “windowing” function that enables even higher speeds to be reached, the Falcon 4M30 and 4M60 cameras are ideal for applications where high speed, excellent quality of image and high reactivity are demanded (all types of industrial vision applications). Wireless transmitters Active for over 40 years in the industrial automation component and man machine safety sector, and ISO 9001: Vision 2000 certified, Masautomazione offers the Italian market the new range of Wireless devices by JayAsteel, the French company that produces photoelectric automation and safety devices, as well as an innovatory range of wireless data transmission systems. These devices enable the communication between one station (modem) and another, with variable distance between 500 m and 5 km, of relay signals, PNP/NPN or analogical 4-20 mA contacts and outputs, or RS 232/485 PC/PLC serial data. • The latest modem model enables communication via Ethernet with an 11 MBit rate. A broad choice of antennas also enables the personalisation and increase of the range of communication this too in areas with many metal structures. The applications are many: automatic warehouses, slide-elevators, ABG/LGV, long lines of production in various sectors, single production machines for transmitting data on production of single machines and a central PC for data collection, cranes and hoists, buses, trains and metros, ports and airports, water pumping stations, aqueducts and water treatment, motorways and motorway tollbooths, outdoor systems, agricultural machinery, signal- and advertising panels. • Without laying a single cable, communication can occur between the smallest and most out-of-the-way sensor to a data collection unit (PC/PLC/etc) for high level data management, automation and collection. Installation and cabling times are minimal, no machine stoppage or slowdowns in production cause by cable maintenance, and as well as that the information flow is enormously empowered.
