Teorical and practical workshop
Background
The workshop will explore the osteopathic relevance of basic science on fascial research
to encourage analgesic, anti-inflammatory effects; enhancing tissue repair; reducing
fibrosis/ adhesions/scar formation; improving circulation, drainage, mobility and function.
Studies show that dosage (frequency, degree, depth, duration, and direction) of applied
biomechanical load, including shear force, stretch, compression etc,, have contrasting
(sometimes opposite) effects on tissues, depending on these variables. Methods will be
discussed and demostrated, from the perspective of the dosage evidence, will include:
Friction and compression methods
Muscle Energy Techniques (including Pulsed MET and an Isolytic model)
Myofascial Release/Induction
Positional Release methods
Scar/fibrosis management
Target Audience
This course is aimed for osteopaths and students enrolled in the last academic year of parttime and full-time courses of osteopathy schools AIMO reserves the right to cancel the
course if it is not reached the minimum number of participants (10). To those who have
already completed the registration fee will be refunded.. Video footage and photographs
permitted at the discretion of the speaker.
Speaker
Leon Chaitow ND, DO si è laureato presso il British College of Osteopathic Medicine
nel 1960. Dal 1983 è stato docente ospite presso numerosi Istituti di chiropratica,
fisioterapia, osteopatia, scuole di naturopatia in Europa, USA, Canada, Australia. Fu il
primo naturopata/osteopata nominato come consulente dal governo del Regno Unito per
le pratiche mediche (1993-2010). E’ autore/editore di più di 70 libri ed è il fondatore ed
editore della rivista indicizzata Journal of Bodywork & Movement Therapies (Elsevier).
E’ membro delle commissioni scientifiche ed organizzative per gli International Fascia
Research Congresses.
