Description stage
The trail begins at the railway
station of Bevera (35 m.a.s.l), a
hamlet belonging to the Municipality of Ventimiglia. It climbs up to
Mount Pozzo (450 m.a.s.l), and
reaches Collabassa (330 m.a.s.l).
Then, following the Provincial Road
# 72, it goes down to Airole, turns
left to the former State Road (no
longer in use) and after about 4 km
it reaches the State Road # 20, near
a tunnel. At this point follow this
State Road, direction Ventimiglia,
for about 40 m, paying attention to
the car traffic, and then cross it, to
resume the dirt path on the left.
You will have to climb up to Case
Squarciafichi, reach the pass North
of Cima Tramontina (530 m.a.s.l),
and then down again to the Provincial Road # 69, where the trail
merges with the “1T” itinerary. At
the first junction turn right, riding
up again to Verrandi and after about
150 m (panoramic view) leave the
asphalt road again and turn onto
the dirt path on the left that runs
along the Via dei Monti Liguri down
The itinerary
The trail takes you immediately to higher elevations, and offers panoramic views over
the Roya river valley and the beautiful meandering gorges of the Bevera stream, enveloping bikers with the typical fragrances and sounds of the Mediterranean maquis. A
steep downhill trail will lead you to the narrow Roya River plain, set between tall,
layered limestone walls. Following another climb on the opposite side of the valley, you
may enjoy a scenic view also of Valle Nervia.
How to get there
Get off the Autofiori motorway (A10) at the exit for Ventimiglia (where the itinerary
begins).
