Dear President,
The Organizing Commission of the Festival Verona Garda Estate has decided to invite your
interesting Choir to participate in the Festival of 2011!
The Festival takes place in the provinces of Verona (www.tourism.verona.it) , Mantova
(www.turismo.mantova.it) , Vicenza (www.vicenza.org), Brescia (www.comune.brescia.it)
and Lake Garda (www.gardaweb.com) during the month of July 2011.
The Festival is devided into three equal parts:



First part: 7, 8, 9 and 10 July (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Second part: 14, 15, 16 and 17 July (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Third part: 21, 22, 23 and 24 July (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Each choir may choose the Festival in which it takes part.
Six foreign choirs will participate in each Festival.
All together during the three Festivals there will therefore be 18 foreign choirs and also some
local Italian choirs.
Each participating choir will have 4 concerts in a different city or village, that is one concert
every night. The concerts are mainly held in churches but also in theatres or even open-air
theatres suitable for choral concerts.
In every concert two foreign choirs will perform and the performing couple changes every
night. When there is a local choir in the city or village, it will also sing in the beginning of the
concert.
Every choir will have 30-40 minutes for a program of free choice, religious or secular,
depending on the concert place.
In the end of the concerts all the choirs will sing together a simple composition called
“Signore delle Cime”, a piece composed of Bepi de Marzi from the Veneto. The score will
be sent to all the choirs well in advance.
Organization
Our organization will take care of the accomodation arrangements and costs. The rating of
the hotels the organization will offer you is at least three stars or higher. The offer for each
choir includes two singles and the requested amount of doubles or triples. A full board is also
included in the offer, starting with dinner on Thursday night and ending at the breakfast on
Monday morning. The meals include several dishes and also water, wine and coffee. The
meals will familiarize you to the delicious local italian cuisine.
The travel costs will be your resposibility as well as all the movements according to the
Festival program (concerts and visits to different cities). The participating fee per person is
200 euros.
If you arrive by plane and not with your own bus, our organization is pleased to arrange on
behalf of your choir a luxury coach for a very reasonable price. The coach will be at your
disposal covering all the movements mentioned in the Festival program including also your
trips from and to the airport.
The companions who are not choir members and are not singing with you pay the sum of 300
euros. The companions will be entitled to attend all concerts and also participate in all the
activities mentioned in the program. Also the accomodation and meals are included in this
price.
Excursions in the region will be organized according to the schedule below.
General program for your stay in Italy
Thursday (the first day)
In the afternoon the choirs arrive to Verona.
Thre will a person in charge waiting and you will be accompanied to your hotel.
At 17.00 o’clock starts the opening ceremony of the Festival which will be followed by
dinner.
Introduction of the Presidents and the Directors of all the choirs.
During the dinner each choir will sing one welcoming song.
At 19.00 o’clock the choirs will leave to concert places.
At 21.00 o’clock Concert
In the end of the concert all the choirs sing together the Signore delle Cime.
Friday (the second day)
Breakfast in the hotel.
At 9.00 o’clock departure to Verona (www.tourism.verona.it), about 20 km.
Free tour in the old town (Piazza Bra and the Arena, via Mazzini, piazza Erbe, Juliet’s
balcony, S. Anastasia, piazza Dante etc.)
At 12.30 o’clock departure to the restaurant.
At 13.00 o’clock lunch with all the choirs together.
Free time in the afternoon.
At 18.00 o’clock dinner in the hotel.
At 19.30 o’clock departure to the concert.
At 21.00 o’clock Concert
In the end of the concert all the choirs sing together the Signore delle Cime.
Saturday (the third day)
Breakfast in the hotel.
At 9.00 o’clock departure to Vicenza, the city of the great architect
Palladio, (www.vicenza.org), about 30 km.
Free tour in the old town (Corso Palladio, Piazza dei Signori, Basilica Palladiana, Teatro
Olimpico, Loggia del Capitanio, Chiesa S. Croce etc.)
At 12.30 o’clock departure to the restaurant.
At 13.00 o’clock lunch with all the choirs together.
Free time in the afternoon.
At 18.00 o’clock dinner in the hotel.
At 19.30 o’clock departure to the concert.
At 21.00 o’clock Concert
In the end of the concert all the choirs sing together the Signore delle Cime.
Sunday (the fourth day)
Breakfast in the hotel.
At 9.00 o’clock departure to Sirmione, the “Pearl” of the Lake
Garda, (www.comune.sirmione.bs.it), (www.gardaweb.com), about 60 km.
Free tour in the beautiful old town of Sirmione.
At 12.30 o’clock departure to the restaurant.
At 13.00 o’clock lunch with all the choirs together. After the lunch there will be a ceremony
during which all the choirs receive a Festival plate as a souvenir.
Free time in the afternoon.
At 18.00 o’clock dinner in the hotel.
At 19.30 o’clock departure to the concert.
At 21.00 o’clock Concert
In the end of the concert all the choirs sing together the Signore delle Cime.
Monday (the fifth day)
After the breakfast the choirs are free to leave.
Note: Each year many choirs would like to stay a few days before or after the Festival in Italy
to visit the beautiful region of Veneto and it’s beautiful cities (Venice, Padua, Mantua, etc.)
Our organization will be at your disposal to organize every moment of your additional stay.
If you wish to stay a few days more we are happy to book you at your expence the same hotel
where you will stay/have stayed and also organize all your excursions with a wonderful
program that has been appreciated every year from choirs who have stayed in Italy.
Note also that during your whole stay in Italy the organisation will provide a guide to go with
you.
