Fondata nel 1983 da docenti universitari e ricercatori, grazie a spiccate doti di
competenza, dinamicità e capacità innovativa, I.R.A. Istituto Ricerche Applicate
ha saputo, in breve tempo, inserirsi con successo nel panorama cosmetico e
farmaceutico.
I.R.A. Istituto Ricerche Applicate was founded in 1983 by a team of university
lecturers and researchers. Within a short space of time made significant
progress in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical fields thanks to a combination of
innovation, competence and dynamism.
Con l’utilizzo di tecnologie di avanguardia, I.R.A. è in grado di offrire alla clientela
un servizio sempre di alto livello qualitativo:
• Ricerca e Sviluppo di nuove sostanze funzionali con specifica attività
biologica, di derivazione biotecnologica e vegetale alternative a quelle
animali, e sistemi di veicolazione di principi attivi, quali: Liposystem
Complex®, Cyclosystem Complex®, Hyalu-Cage System®, Dermahyal®;
• Messa a punto di metodiche analitiche, sia chimiche che microbiologiche;
• Sviluppo di progetti mirati, gestiti in stretta collaborazione con il cliente;
• Disponibilità di un laboratorio di Biologia cellulare e molecolare (inserito
nell’Albo dei laboratori riconosciuti dalla legge 46 in materia di finanziamenti
pubblici all’industria per la ricerca), per la conduzione di progetti di ricerca
propri o in collaborazione con enti o strutture specializzate;
• Studio di nuove formulazioni cosmetiche con un completo Full service
contoterzi: dall’idea alla distribuzione;
• Prodotti Cosmetici, in bulk o confezionati, per conto terzi.
Using state of the art technology I.R.A. is able to offer it’s clients a high level

• New active ingredients, derived from plant & biotechnical origin, delivery

the Italian Law register), to carry out research projects in collaboration with

PRODOTTI E PRODUZIONE
• Materie prime e principi attivi veicolati con fosfolipidi, ciclodestrine e acido
ialuronico: Liposystem Complex®, Cyclosystem Complex®, Hyalu-Cage
System®, Dermahyal®;
• Estratti idroglicolici naturali e standarizzati di origine vegetal: Herby Line®;
• Estratti liposolubili: Herby Oil;
• Linea completa biotecnologica da microrganismi non modificati
geneticamente di enzimi ad alta funzionalità cosmetica: Zymo line.
La produzione avviene mediante processi che impiegano moderne tecnologie,
secondo i più alti standard produttivi. Tutte le fasi sono controllate con tests
accurati che assicurano l’ottenimento di un prodotto secondo le “Norme di
Buona Fabbricazione”. Inoltre l’efficacia e la sicurezza del prodotto sono
verificate nel pieno rispetto del nuovo Regolamento Cosmetico 1223/2009/CE.
TECNOLOGIE E SERVIZI
I.R.A. Istituto Ricerche Applicate è, inoltre, specializzata nella produzione di
dispositivi medici e delle seguenti tipologie di cosmetici:
• Prodotti per il trattamento viso-corpo
• Prodotti dermo-igienici per bambini
• Prodotti per l’igiene personale
con la preparazione di prodotti in bulk (emulsioni, sieri, gel, bagno schiuma,
shampoo, lozioni) e di prodotti confezionati (tubi da 3÷250mL, vasi/flaconi da
15÷1000mL, vials da 2÷10mL con o senza etichetta).
La gestione della qualità si avvale della presenza di tre laboratori, uno chimico,
uno microbiologico ed un terzo di colture cellulari e biotecnologie.
La presenza di tali laboratori consente quindi di procedere sia all’applicazione di
severe procedure di Controllo Qualità sui propri prodotti, che all’organizzazione
di protocolli per il controllo di prodotti sottoposti dal cliente, secondo gli
standard nazionali ed internazionali.

I.R.A. Istituto Ricerche Applicate S.r.l. è un’azienda certificata secondo la norma
UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 dal 1995, con certificato n°423 e secondo la norma
UNI EN ISO 13485:2012 “Dispositivi Medici - Sistemi di gestione della qualità”
dal 2008, con certificato n°13790.
I.R.A. Istituto Ricerche Applicate S.r.l. è un’azienda certificata anche secondo
la norma UNI EN ISO 22716:2007 “Cosmetici-Pratiche di Buona Fabbricazione
(GMP). Linee guida sulle Pratiche di Buona Fabbricazione. Practices (GMP)” e
secondo la “EFfCI Guida GMP per gli ingredienti cosmetici”.

I.R.A. Istituto Ricerche Applicate S.r.l. can provide its customers with the top
quality services of a company specialised in the production of medical devices
and of the following types of cosmetics products:
• Face/body care products
• Skin care/hygiene products for children
• Personal hygiene products
with the manufacturing of bulk products (emulsions, serums, gels, bath
foams, shampoos, lotions, powders) and packaged products (3÷250mL tubes,
15÷1000mL jars/bottles, 2÷10mL vials, with or without labels).
The quality management is basically based on three laboratories: chemical,
microbiological, biotechnological & for cellular culture.
These laboratories enable I.R.A. not only to apply rigorous quality control
procedures on its own products but also to draw up procedures upon clients’
request and products, under national & international standards.

UN NUOVO SISTEMA DI VEICOLAZIONE TRANSDERMICA A RILASCIO CONTROLLATO CON ACIDO IALURONICO RETICOLATO
DERMAHYAL® è un gel a base di acido ialuronico reticolato di origine biotecnologica, reticolato con urea. L’acido ialuronico (HA) è uno dei componenti
fondamentali dei tessuti connettivi. Conferisce alla pelle le sue particolari proprietà di resistenza e mantenimento della forma, una sua carenza
determina infatti un indebolimento della pelle con la formazione di rughe ed inestetismi. La sua concentrazione nei tessuti tende a diminuire con
l’avanzare dell’età a causa della naturale presenza di particolari enzimi, le ialuronidasi, che catalizzano la degradazione delle catene di HA.
L’HA reticolato è maggiormente resistente all’azione enzimatica delle ialuronidasi, pertanto viene degradato molto lentamente, rimanendo intatto
sulla superficie della pelle per un tempo prolungato. Ciò aumenta la capacità idratante dell’HA nonché il suo effetto coprente e liftante.
DERMAHYAL® consente di inserire vari attivi all’interno del reticolo di HA, l’importante è che si tratti di molecole idrofile. E’ possibile anche inserire
delle profumazioni (HYALUSCENT®).

DERMAHYAL® is a gel of cross-linked hyaluronic acid of biotechnological origin, cross-linked with urea.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is one of the fundamental components of the connective tissues. It gives the skin its properties of resistance and abilities to maintain
its shape. In fact a deficiency of HA causes a weakening of the skin with the appearance of wrinkles and blemishes. Its concentration in the tissues tends
to decrease with age due to the presence of particular enzymes, hyaluronidases, which catalyzes HA’s chain degradation.
The cross-linked HA is more resistant to enzymatic degradation, therefore it is degraded much more slowly, remaining undamaged on the cutaneous surface
for a lingering period. This increases the hydrating ability of the HA and its lifting effect.
It is possible to insert in DERMAHYAL® various active ingredients , the important thing is that they are hydrophilic molecules. It is possible also to insert
fragrances (HYALUSCENT®).

Il LIPOSYSTEM COMPLEX® è un complesso tra una sostanza attiva e fosfolipidi. I fosfolipidi sono molecole anfipatiche formate da glicerolo legato
a due catene di acidi grassi, mentre il sito rimanente è occupato da un composto idrofilo, in genere colina, serina, etanolammina, inositolo.
L’aggiunta di acqua al LIPOSYSTEM COMPLEX®, seguita da una breve agitazione, determina la spontanea formazione di liposomi di piccole
dimensioni a struttura unilamellare, offrendo così una maggiore superficie di legame per il principio attivo complessato. La natura anfipatica dei
fosfolipidi che costituiscono il doppio strato lipidico della membrana liposomiale permette la creazione preliminare di legami con molecole sia
idrofile che lipofile; il principio attivo si trova così non all’interno delle vescicole liposomiali, bensì direttamente legato alle corrispondenti parti
idrofobe o idrofile delle stesse. Questo sistema è in grado di produrre dei liposomi ad altissima capacità incapsulante, prossima al 100 % dei principi

The LIPOSYSTEM COMPLEX® is a complex between an active ingredient and phospholipids. Phospholipids are amphipathic molecules made of glycerol
bound to two fatty acids, while the remaining site is occupied by hydrophilic compound, generally represented by choline, serine, ethanolamine or inositol.
The addition of water to the LIPOSYSTEM COMPLEX® determines the natural formation of small unilamellar liposomes with the active principle directly
bound to the lipid layer. The amphipathic nature of phospholipids that constitute the double lipidic layer of the liposomial membrane allows the preliminary
creation of bonds with both hydrophilic and lipophilic molecules; the active principle is found therefore not inside the liposomial vesicle but directly linked
to the corresponding hydrophobic or hydrophilic part of it. The complexed liposomes obtained in this way offer the largest surface of bond to the active
principle, thus providing a very high encapsulating capacity of the active molecule, close to 100%.
The importance of the LIPOSYSTEM COMPLEX® in dermocosmetics is considerable. Acting as a natural carrier, it increases the absorption of the active
principle and guarantees a major dermoaffinity of the product, since the specific activity of the complexed active substance is combined with the softening,
hydrating and nourishing action of phospholipids. In the complexed form the active principle is protected from chemical and enzymatic aggressions and
almost entirely released in its site of action. Moreover, the LIPOSYSTEM COMPLEX® is self preserving in its microbiological aspect.

Le ciclodestrine sono oligosaccaridi ciclici prodotti per rottura molecolare dell’’amido tramite l’enzima Ciclodestrinaglucosiltransferasi (CGT); si
tratta di prodotti biotecnologici ottenuti da materie prime di origine totalmente vegetale. Oltre alle notevoli proprietà idratanti specifiche della
molecola ciclica zuccherina, le ciclodestrine assicurano, grazie alle loro proprietà di rilascio controllato, un aumento di attività della sostanza
funzionale complessata e una diminuzione significativa di eventuali problemi di irritazione legati al principio attivo in forma libera. Inoltre rendono
più stabili e resistenti all’ossidazione le sostanze contenute, siano esse liposolubili o idrosolubili, migliorando quindi la conservazione e la

Cyclodextrins are cyclic oligosaccharides resulting from enzymatic degradation of starch by the enzyme CGT (Cyclodextrin-glucose-transferase), so they are
biotechnological products obtained from plant raw materials. As sugar molecules they have considerable moisturizing properties.
They protect the active principle, improving the stability against oxidation of either hydrosoluble or liposoluble molecules and, thanks to the process of
controlled release, they greatly enhance the activity of the functional substance included. When dissolved in water the β cyclodextrins are able to have a
lifting action & form a transparent invisible skin film.

Hyalu-Cage System® è un gel a base di acido ialuronico reticolato (cross-linked) di origine biotecnologica, reticolato con DVS.
L’acido ialuronico (HA) è uno dei componenti fondamentali dei tessuti connettivi. Conferisce alla pelle le sue particolari proprietà di resistenza e
mantenimento della forma, una sua carenza determina infatti un indebolimento della pelle con la formazione di rughe ed inestetismi.
La sua concentrazione nei tessuti tende a diminuire con l’avanzare dell’età a causa della naturale presenza di particolari enzimi, le ialuronidasi, che
catalizzano la degradazione delle catene di HA. L’HA reticolato è maggiormente resistente all’azione enzimatica delle ialuronidasi, pertanto viene
degradato molto lentamente, rimanendo intatto sulla superficie della pelle per un tempo prolungato.

Hyalu-Cage System® is a gel of cross-linked hyaluronic acid of biotechnological origin, cross-linked with DVS.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is one of the fundamental components of the connective tissues. It gives the skin its properties of resistance and abilities to maintain
its shape. In fact a deficiency of HA causes a weakening of the skin with the appearance of wrinkles and blemishes. Its concentration in the tissues tends
to decrease with age due to the presence of particular enzymes, hyaluronidases, which catalyzes HA’s chain degradation.
The cross-linked HA is more resistant to enzymatic degradation, therefore it is degraded much more slowly, remaining undamaged on the cutaneous surface
for a lingering period. This increases the hydrating ability of the HA and its lifting effect. In fact Hyalu-Cage System® is able to form a film on the surface of
the skin reducing the loss of moisturizing and protecting it from external polluting agents.

I liposomi sono delle strutture vescicolari che si formano quando dei lipidi di membrana sono dispersi in un eccesso di acqua.
Sono dei prodotti notevolmente interessanti per la loro elevata capacità di ritenzione idrica e la capacità di costruire dei sistemi di veicolazione di
un’ ampia gamma di sostanze idrosolubili e liposolubili. Le sostanze idrosolubili sono contenute negli spazi acquosi interni dei liposomi e legate
elettrostaticamente alla superficie del loro doppio strato lipidico; le sostanze liposolubili sono invece trattenute all’interno del doppio strato lipidico.
I sistemi liposomiali, data la loro natura fosfolipidica, presentano il vantaggio di essere dei prodotti completamente naturali, di origine vegetale e
totalmente sebocompatibili. La loro particolare composizione permette ed incrementa il loro assorbimento (endocitosi cellulare per affinità con i
lipidi di membrana), così come la protezione e il trasporto in sito del principio attivo ospite. Inoltre, i loro componenti fosfolipidici sono degli ottimi
prodotti ad effetto emolliente e nutriente cutaneo.

Liposomes are vesicular structures forming when phospholipids are dispersed in an excess of water.
These products are of considerable interest because of their remarkable water retention power and the ability to build up efficient carrier systems for a
large number of either hydrosoluble or liposoluble substances. Hydrosoluble molecules are dispersed in the inner aqueous spaces of liposomes, linked
by electrostatic bonds to the surface of their double lipidic layer, whereas liposoluble substances are retained inside the double lipidic layer. Due to their
phospholipidic composition, liposomes offer the advantage of being natural structures, of vegetable origin, fully consistent with the sebum composition.
Their peculiar nature allows their prompt and almost complete absorption (cellular endocytosis promoted by the affinity with membrane lipids), as well as
the protection of the included active principle and its delivery to the site of action. Liposomes are ideal products with emollient & skin nourishing properties.
It is advised that Liposomes are added at a dose of 2 – 5 % and dispersed while cooling at 40-45°C while cooling

ll SAN SUN LIPOSYSTEM COMPLEX® è un complesso tra filtri solari ad ampio spettro di assorbimento UV e fosfolipidi. Il SAN SUN LIPOSYSTEM
COMPLEX® assicura pertanto la massima efficacia, senza rischi, nel proteggere l’epidermide dagli effetti negativi dell’esposizione solare e, grazie
alla presenza di fosfolipidi, favorenti un’azione emolliente e nutriente, è indicato anche nelle formulazioni per pelli delicate.
Il prodotto fornisce un ottimo rapporto di attività UVA/UVB e un assorbimento quasi totale degli UVA compresi nell’intervallo 320-360 nm (UVA
corti), fortemente attivi sul DNA con azione mutagena e, di conseguenza, possibilmente cancerogeni.
E’ possibile formulare sofisticati prodotti solari, in accordo alle recenti normative australiane, CEE e USA semplicemente dissolvendo in acqua il
prodotto, alla concentrazione desiderata in funzione dell’SPF.
SAN SUN LIPOSYSTEM COMPLEX® is a complex between solar filters at wide UV absorption spectrum and phospholipids. SAN SUN LIPOSYSTEM COMPLEX®
guarantees therefore the highest efficacy in protecting, without risks, the skin from adverse effects of solare exposure.
Thanks to the presence of phospholipids, endowed of an emollient and nourishing action, it can be employed also in formulations for delicate skins.
The product gives a very good UVA/UVB activity ratio and a nearly complete absorption of UVA in the interval 320-360 nm (short UVA), strongly active as
mutagens on DNA and, consequently, possibly carcinogenic.
It is possible to formulate sophisticated solar products, in accordance with recent normative laws CEE, Australian and USA simply dissolving the product in
water, according to the concentration level requested by the desired SPF.
