Cinema pays tribute to fashion
FRANCE
2014 will see the first screenings – with previews in France – of the biopic devoted to the
great fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent. Directed by Jalil Lespert, the film follows the
designer’s story from the turning point of his life, when he was appointed creative director
of Maison Dior in 1958, at the age of 21.
The young Saint Laurent is played by an equally young actor from the Comédie Français,
making his debut: Pierre Niney, slim of build but dominant in bearing.
Pierre Bergé – professional and personal partner of the legendary fashion designer – has
personally approved the film, and this leads one to believe that its narration will be
accurate in every detail: faithfully recounting a reality exceeding anything which fiction
might have wanted to add.

Il cinema onora la moda
Il 2014 vede l’uscita, in anteprima nelle sale francesi, del film biografico dedicato al
grande stilista Yves Saint Laurent. La pellicola, che ripercorre la vita del creativo a partire
dalla fatidica svolta del 1958 - anno in cui il 21enne Saint Laurent fu nominato direttore
creativo della Maison Dior -, è diretta dal regista Jalil Lespert.
Ad interpretare il giovane stilista è stato chiamato un altrettanto giovane attore della
Comèdie Française: l’esordiente Pierre Niney, corporatura gracile ed espressione
impavida. L’approvazione di Pierre Bergé, compagno di vita e di professione del grande
stilista, lascia presagire un racconto filologicamente curato in ogni dettaglio, al quale nulla
la finzione narrativa avrebbe mai potuto aggiungere.
