Vodafone Italy is member of Vodafone, the biggest group of mobile communications
worldwide.
It manages 8 Call Centres, more that 7.000 sales points, offices all over Italy and
many premises in Milan.
In such a complex world, security has to be a warranty, essential for employees and
goods protection.
The Challenge
Vodafone has chosen SYAC products, brand DigiEye, in 2001 when it has been decided to swap analogical video surveillance
systems in digital ones.
The Solution
Control is provided at two levels:
Local – in all premises with at least 200 employees, access control is verified at the main entrance by a receptionist and a
security guard through a video surveillance monitor.
Remote – viewing, control, and monitoring 24hrs a day is controlled by a single remote control centre, SOC (Security Operation
Centre) where thanks to the centralized supervision system SYAC DCC-Premium the following operations can be performed:
•
acquisition, recording, transmission, playback of audio/video sequences
•
multi-zones motion detection for each camera
•
WLAN,LAN/WAN, PSTN, ISDN, XDSL, GPRS, EMAIL, SMS, MMS and INTERNET transmission of text-audio
•
video files indoor and outdoor
•
forwarding of alarmed calls to one or more control stations (e.g. control centres, order forces, fire brigades,
•
medical assistance etc.)
•
visualized the alarmed images in real-time and/or in recordings
•
cameras management (i.e. pan, tilt, zoom) from both fixed and mobile positions
•
centralized integrated security devices
•
audio/video communication with other control centres
•
centralized management of user’s rights

More than 80 SYAC systems (from 1 to 4 for each
sensitive location) and more than 500 cameras control constantly:
• common areas,
• pedestrian and vehicular ways from inside the
premises to the outside
• H Q building,
• emergency exits, access area to the floors and
premises (in respect to privacy laws)
• More than 100 central telephone offices
• Owned shops and windows.
Thanks to SYAC systems, surveillance is assured in
all areas. Moreover all users and all systems are managed from a single location without the need of local
reconfiguration.
CASE
STUDY
The centralized accounting control is provided by DigiEye Radius Account Manager, a sophisticated system for the authentication of all users of a DigiEye-based surveillance system over
TCP/IP network.
With DigiEye Radius Account Manager all users and all systems
are managed from a single location without the need for local
reconfiguration, and all DigiEye features can be individually
enabled or disabled on a user or system account basis.
It comprises a database server, which stores the accounting
information of users and DigiEye systems with various types of
settings such as individual/single site user rights and/or groups
of sites or users; an authentication server which manages the
communication with DigiEye systems authenticating or not
systems access according to database permissions.
DigiEye Radius Account Manager enables the correct assignment and management of user rights and privileges. Moreover,
thanks to Radius custom development, and its integration with
Vodafone Active Directory, users have the same company accounts.

The core of SYAC’s solution is the DCC-Premium supervision, a complete Control Centre for supervision and total remote
management of security systems over IP Networks. It is able to satisfy the simplest to the most advanced needs for centralization of the DigiEye last generation systems over LAN/WAN networks.
The features include complete management of an unlimited number of surveyed sites regardless of their geographical location,
log of any number of alarm notifications from remote cameras and sensors, concurrent management by multiple operators and
integration of fire and alarm control panels network.
Video from alarmed cameras is automatically viewed in popup windows. Dynamic graphical representation of sites and cameras makes access to live or recorded video quick and easy.
