NATHAN SAWAYA’S
From 28 October 2015 to 14 February 2016
Spazio Eventi SET Via Tirso,14 Roma
For the first time in Italy, Nathan Sawaya’s THE ART OF THE BRICK, the
internationally acclaimed art exhibit with millions of visitors, is hosted in Rome
in the Spazio Eventi SET
THE ART OF THE BRICK is a one-of-a-kind modern art exhibition where the
artist has created a new dimension by merging Pop Art and Surrealism. Staged
over an area of more than 1200m , it showcases 80 imposing and fascinating
works of art made with the famous LEGO bricks
Nathan Sawaya’s art works were built with more than a million LEGO bricks.
Revealed in breathtaking environments, these works surprise visitors, leaving
them speechless. Among the most stunning and unexpected 3D creations, THE
ART OF THE BRICK presents the, sometimes reinterpreted, reconstructions
of universally known works of art and of the human condition
The curator of the Italian exhibition, Fabio Di Gioia, highlights the importance
of the exhibit aimed to a wide audience:
“Nathan Sawaya’s artwork immediately strikes the adult more than the child. The
sculptures, at a first glimpse, seem easy to create: you just need a large number of
bricks and assemble them by following a design. But in THE ART OF THE BRICK
you can see the creative genius of the artist, behind the playfulness, which
expresses a new reinterpretation of art as well as the human condition. And this
strikes the adult. Sawaya’s arrival to Italy, homeland of creative genius and art, is
an extraordinary experience because it brings back home something that in
someway belongs to us”
Among the most stunning creations: The Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, the Sistine
Ceiling, Michelangelo’s David, Warhol’s portraits, Rembrandt self-portrait, Rodin’s
Thinker, Klimt’s The Scream, Monet’s San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk, Van Gogh’s
Starry Night, Modigliani, Klimt’s Kiss, The Parthenon, and the huge, 6 m long T-rex skeleton built with over 80.000 bricks
THE ART OF THE BRICK opens on October 28, in Rome, and is produced by Terminal 2
and Da Vinci Grandi Eventi. For CNN, it is one of the Top 10 must-see global exhibitions
Accessible to all, it appeals to both young and old who, at some point in their lives, have all
played with the famous LEGO bricks
THE ART OF THE BRICK will be hosted until 14 February201 6 in the Spazio Eventi SET
(Via Tirso,14 Roma)
