ANTONIO MONTANILE (I - B) ANTONIO MONTANILE Antonio Montanile began studying classical dance at the age of 9 in Brusciano, Naples with Clelia Cortini. When he was 18, he joined the Accademia Isola Danza at the Venice Biennale under the direction of Carolyn Carlson. Following this training program, which he has the opportunities to study with: Iorma Uotinen, Larrio Ekson, Carolyn Carlson, Wim Vandekeybus, Raffaella Giordano,Pedro Pawels, Elsa Wolliaston, Kazuo e Yoshito Ohno, Eva La Yerbabuena, Jean-Cristophe Paré, Mudhavi Mudgal, Jennifer Muller, Dominique Mercy, Malou Airaudo, Giorgio Rossi,Janet Panetta, Nigel Charnock, Susan Sentler, Ivan Wolfe, Caroline Marcadet, Emio Greco, … , he was invited by Carlson to work with the Venice Biennale Dance Company under her direction, where he took part in 4 productions: Parabola (1999), Light-Bringers – Araba Fenice (2000), and J.Beuys Song (2002). In 2001, the Venice Biennale in co-production with the Teatro Massimo of Palermo commissioned him to choreograph a work for the festival “Tre Assoli Italiani” Nuove Creazioni per la Biennale Commissioni Danza – Musica, where he presented his first solo Quduo (2001). Quduo has been performed at The Place Theater – London, Kanuti Gildi Saal – Estonia, Tanec Praha – Prague, Printémps de la Danse de la Ville de Carthage – Tunis, Teatro Pradillo – Madrid, Ville de la Culture Lille 2004 – France, In Teatro - Polverigi, Incursioni di Maggio - Castiglioncello, RomaEuropa – Rome, Tangente – Montréal, etc. In 2002, he created a work for 5 dancers, Punto con fondo, as part of the project “7 Coreografi” headed by Carolyn Carlson, with a première at the Teatro Fondamenta Nuove in Venice (2002). In 2002, Antonio Montanile joined the Caterina Sagna Dance Company, taking part in 5 shows: Sorelline (2001- reprise de rôle), Relazione Pubblica (2002), HeilTanz (2004), Basso Ostinato (2006), and P.O.M.P.E.I. primo scavo(2008) et P.O.M.P.E.I. deuxième fouille In 2003, he created Niedich in co-production with the Palladium Theater in Rome, which went on to tour in the following festivals: 2nd Mediterranean Platform of Contemporary Dance – Volos (Greece), Julidans – Amsterdam, Pelma Presents the Solos – Larnaca and Limassol (Cyprus), Ekonoklaste – Wuppertal (Germany), Tel-Aviv Dance 2007 – Tel-Aviv (Israel). In 2007, he created Un fascio di nervi for the Summer Studios Showing and for the festival Les Dimanches de la Danse in Brussels in co-production with DepianoFabriek Bruxelles, CCN de Roubaix France (Accueil Studio), Moving de Fabbrica Europa in Italy He worked for Déjàdonné Company by Simone Sandroni and Lenka Flory for "Not made for flying"show in Munich, with Cie Tamt'Amati d' Erika Zueneli "Vai e Passa", for Carmen Blanco Principal "l'isola delle lacrime", and for Cie Xl de Maria Clara Villa-Lobos for the children's performance " Tête à Tête". Antonio Montanile is currently working with Philippe Saire Dance Company in Switzerland "cartographie num10, Je vais bien vous croire, La nuit transfigurée, Dahu Rolex centre,Utopia Mia, C.U.T. and he gets a Diploma of professor of contemporary dance to Centre National de la Danse of Lyon in France. AWARDS 1995 “Città di Fano” National Competition: 3rd place. 1996 “Mionetto” città di Rieti Sixth International Competition: 1st place. 2002 “Quduo'” selected for the Aerowaves project by The Place Theater in London to represent Italy. 2008 “Un fascio di nervi” selected for the “Moving Project” by FabbricaEuropa in Italy.
