Istruzioni per gli Autori
Obiettivi della Rivista
Petria è una rivista scientifica redatta dal CRA-Istituto Sperimentale per la
Patologia Vegetale di Roma, che pubblica contributi nel campo della Patologia vegetale e della Fitoiatria. Sono presi in considerazione i seguenti contributi: Articoli,
Rassegne, Note brevi, Atti di convegni e Lettere alla Direzione, redatti in italiano o
in inglese.
Informazioni generali
I manoscritti inviati per la pubblicazione devono essere inediti. Essi saranno
sottoposti al parere di Esperti qualificati. Dopo il preliminare accertamento, da parte del Comitato di redazione, che il manoscritto proposto rientri nelle finalità della
Rivista, i lavori saranno assegnati ad un Membro del Comitato Scientifico che ne curerà la revisione e ne proporrà l’eventuale accettazione. In ogni caso, gli Autori sono
responsabili del contenuto scientifico degli articoli.
Gli articoli accettati divengono proprietà della Rivista. La pubblicazione è
gratuita. Per ogni articolo pubblicato verranno inviati gratuitamente, al solo Autore
corrispondente, 20 estratti.
Invio del manoscritto
I manoscritti dovranno essere inviati in formato elettronico all’Ufficio
Editoriale ([email protected]). Il testo dovrà essere in formato Word di Microsoft o
OS Mac (.doc). Devono essere indicati i nomi e gli Enti di appartenenza degli Autori
e i loro indirizzi postali. Per ogni articolo dovrà essere indicato l’Autore cui inviare
la corrispondenza (“Autore corrispondente”) e il suo indirizzo di posta elettronica.
La versione finale del manoscritto, dopo la revisione, dovrà essere inviata in formato
elettronico all’Ufficio Editoriale ([email protected]). In generale, la posta elettronica è
il mezzo di comunicazione preferito dalla Rivista.
Preparazione del manoscritto
Al fine di attenersi il più possibile allo stile della Rivista, si raccomanda agli
Autori di prendere visione di numeri recenti di Petria o dell’articolo esemplificativo
reperibile su www.ispave.it/petria/article.pdf

Il manoscritto dovrà essere redatto secondo le seguenti istruzioni, specifiche
per i principali tipi di contributo previsti:
• Articoli scientifici: la pubblicazione andrà articolata in: Titolo, Nomi ed indirizzi
completi degli Autori; Titolo abbreviato (al massimo di 40 caratteri); Parole chiave
(non oltre 5, in italiano ed in inglese); Introduzione; Materiali e metodi; Risultati;
Discussione; Ringraziamenti; Riassunto (che non superi le 200 parole) in italiano
ed in inglese inclusa la traduzione del titolo; Lavori citati. È consentita una certa
flessibilità nella presentazione di lavori con particolari esigenze. Ad esempio, è
ammesso unificare i Risultati e la Discussione.
• Note brevi: con questa dicitura si intendono comprendere brevi lavori completi, ma
non risultati preliminari. Il testo delle Note brevi non è suddiviso in sezioni, ed include un Riassunto (100 parole) in italiano ed in inglese con la traduzione del titolo,
Ringraziamenti, e Lavori citati.
• Rassegne: saranno prese in considerazione rassegne su particolari argomenti. Il testo sarà articolato secondo le necessità dell’argomento trattato. Dovranno essere
incluse: una sezione finale con le Conclusioni, il Riassunto (che non superi le 200
parole) in italiano ed in inglese con la traduzione del titolo e i Lavori citati.
• Atti di Convegni: si prega di accordarsi preliminarmente con il Direttore Responsabile
della Rivista ([email protected]).
La Rivista provvederà alla traduzione del Riassunto e delle Parole Chiave in
italiano qualora richiesto da Autore non di madre lingua italiana.
Formato. I dattiloscritti dovranno essere predisposti per un formato A4 (297
× 210 mm), con spaziatura doppia ed ampi margini. Le righe di ogni pagina devono
essere numerate in successione. Al fine di evitare errori, si raccomanda di utilizzare
caratteri “standard” come Times, Times New Roman o Arial per il testo, e caratteri
“Simbolo” per le lettere greche, ecc. Gli Autori avranno cura di usare caratteri diversi
per la lettera O e la cifra 0 (zero), le lettere I, l e la cifra 1 (uno), le lettere β (beta greca)
e ß (doppia esse tedesca).
È raccomandata la massima concisione. Per gli aspetti di stile e le convenzioni, si raccomanda di riferirsi al CBE Style Manual, Council of Biology Editors, Inc.,
Bethesda, Maryland, USA.
Lavori citati. Devono essere elencati in ordine alfabetico, e contenere: per
le riviste, il cognome e le iniziali dell’autore(i), la data di pubblicazione, il titolo
dell’articolo, il nome completo della rivista (in corsivo), numero (caratteri arabi, in
grassetto) del volume, prima ed ultima pagina dell’articolo. La citazione di un libro
deve contenere: autore(i), data di pubblicazione, titolo, edizione, casa editrice, luogo
di pubblicazione e numero di pagine. Nel testo le citazioni devono essere indicate, tra
parentesi, con il nome dell’autore e la data, usando et al. quando il numero degli autori
è superiore a due. Seguono alcuni esempi per i principali tipi di lavoro citati:

Illustrazioni e tabelle. Devono essere fornite separate dal testo. Tutte le fotografie ed i grafici devono essere numerati consecutivamente con numerazione araba,
nell’ordine in cui sono citati nel testo. Le figure devono essere generate da computer e
di buona qualità (almeno 300 dpi, ampiezza di 12 cm ) e devono essere fornite in formato EPS o TIF. Le scritte sulle illustrazioni devono essere di dimensioni sufficienti
per permetterne la riduzione qualora necessaria. La dimensione dell’ingrandimento
deve essere indicata su una scala di riferimento riportata sulla fotografia. Ogni immagine sarà contraddistinta da un numero (arabo) e dovrà recare il nome dell’autore.
Le didascalie delle figure devono essere redatte su un foglio a parte. Ogni tabella sarà
numerata con numerazione araba e redatta su un foglio a parte.
Tutte le illustrazioni e le tabelle devono essere comprensibili indipendentemente dal testo dell’articolo, e devono essere citate in quest’ultimo.
Abbreviazioni. Devono essere usate le unità di misura standard IS (e le relative abbreviazioni). Le abbreviazioni inusuali devono essere citate la prima volta per
esteso con l’abbreviazione utilizzata riportata tra parentesi.

Correzione delle bozze e ordine di estratti
Le bozze saranno inviate per posta elettronica all’Autore corrispondente in formato Acrobat (.pdf), che avrà cura di correggerle e restituirle entro 5 giorni lavorativi.
La correzione delle bozze deve essere limitata ai soli errori di stampa.
Gli Autori che desiderassero ricevere ulteriori copie (a pagamento) degli
estratti, dovranno ordinarle direttamente alla tipografia via fax al seguente indirizzo:

Instructions for Authors
Scope of the Journal
Petria is a scientific journal, owned and edited by the CRA-Istituto Sperimentale per la Patologia Vegetale (Plant Pathology Research Institute) of Rome, that publishes contributions in phytopathology and plant protection fields. Articles, reviews,
short communications, congress proceedings and letters to the Editor are welcome.
The publication languages are Italian and English.
General
Manuscripts submitted for publication will be considered on the assumption that
the same or similar work has not been nor will be published elsewhere. All submitted
material is subjected to review by referees. After preliminary examination by Deputy
Editors to ascertain if they are within the scope of the Journal, submitted papers will
be assigned to a member of the Editorial Board for review processing and acceptance.
In any case, Authors are responsible for the scientific content of their papers. Accepted
papers become copyright of the Journal. No charge is made for publication.
Submission procedure
First submission of manuscripts should be in electronic format to the Editorial Office ([email protected]). The text should be as Microsoft or OS Mac Word files
(.doc). The name, postal and e-mail addresses and affiliation of the corresponding
Author should be indicated. Correspondence with Authors will be by e-mail whenever
possible. Final versions of revised manuscripts should be submitted in electronic form
to the Editorial Office ([email protected]).
Preparation of manuscript
In order to follow the style of the published papers as closely as possible, Authors are requested to examine a recent publication of Petria or the sample paper that
can be found at www.ispave.it/petria/article.pdf. Compile the electronic version of the
manuscript following the specific guidelines below:
• Standard 'full-length' papers: the paper should be divided into: Title, Name(s) and
full address(es) of the Author(s); Running title (40 types maximum); Key words
(in Italian and English, not exceeding five); Introduction; Materials and methods;
Results; Discussion; Acknowledgements; Summary (not exceeding 200 words)

in Italian and English including the title translation; References. Some flexibility
in layout is allowed for papers that cannot be presented in conventional form. For
instance, a combined Results and discussion section is permitted.
• Short communications: these are intended for reporting brief complete pieces of
work, not for preliminary results. The running text is not divided into sections, and
include a short Summary (100 words) in Italian and English with title translation,
Acknowledgements, and References.
• Review papers: review articles on specific subjects will be considered for publication. The running text should be structured according to the subject treated. A
final section with Conclusions, Summary (not exceeding 200 words) in Italian and
English, including the title translation, and References should be included.
• Proceeding: contact the Journal Director ([email protected]).
The Journal is willing to provide translation of Summary and Key words in
Italian when requested by an Author not of Italian mother language.
Format. The manuscript should be typed double-spaced with settings for A4
(297 × 210 mm) paper with wide margins, and preferably the lines of each page should
be numbered consecutively. Please use only standard fonts such as Times, Times New
Roman or Arial for text, and Symbol font for Greek letters, etc. to avoid inadvertent
character substitutions. Authors should take care to differentiate between the letter O
and 0 (zero), the letters I, l and 1 (one), the Greek β and the German ß. The maximum
concision is recommended. In general, the CBE Style Manual, Council of Biology
Editors, Inc., Bethesda, Maryland, USA, is recommended as a reference for style and
conventions.
References. Should be listed in alphabetical order, and contain, for journal papers, Author(s) names and initials, date of publication, title of the article, full name of
the journal (italics), number (Arabic, bold) of the volume, and the first and last pages
of the article. The reference to a book should contain: Author(s), date of publication,
title, edition, publisher’s name, place of publication and page number. In the text the
reference should be indicated by the Author’s name and date, between parentheses,
using et al. when the number of Authors exceeds two. Examples are given below:

llustrations and tables. Should be separated from the text. All photographs and
graphs should be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals in the order in which
they are referred to in the text. The figures must be good-quality computer-generated
(at least 300 dpi, 12 cm wide) and should be supplied in EPS or TIF format. Lettering
on the illustrations should be of sufficient size to allow for reduction if necessary.
The magnification should be indicated by a reference bar on the picture. Illustrations
should indicate the Author’s name and the figure number (in Arabic). Legends to the
figures should be typed on a separate sheet. Tables should be numbered in Arabic
numerals and typed on separated sheets.
Every illustration and table should have an self-explanatory caption, and must
have a reference in the text.
Abbreviations. Standard IS units of measure (and abbreviations) should be
used. Unusual abbreviations should be given initially in full with abbreviations indicated in parentheses.
Proof correction and offprints
Proofs will be sent via e-mail as an Acrobat PDF (portable document format)
file. Proofs of the paper should be corrected and returned within 5 working days. We
ask the Authors to correct printer’s errors only.
The corresponding Author will receive 20 offprints free of charge. Additional
copies may be ordered at prices quoted in the reprint order form supplied to the corresponding Author attached to the proofs. In this case the Author will send the form by
fax, within 10 working days to the Printer at the following address: Tipografia CRS,
