Varvel SpA, storica azienda bolognese operante a livello internazionale, specializzata
nell’ideazione, progettazione, produzione di variatori e riduttori di velocità, in qualità di
impresa socialmente responsabile, sostiene da oltre dieci anni ANT, Unicef e Medici Senza
Frontiere con la donazione di 2 centesimi di Euro a ciascuna delle onlus per ogni pezzo venduto.
A questo impegno si aggiunge la partecipazione diretta ad altre iniziative
per raccogliere fondi, specialmente nel periodo di Natale.
Come già fatto lo scorso anno, il 17 dicembre Varvel
ospiterà i volontari dell’Unicef con un espositore
per la vendita delle Pigotte, le bambole di pezza
realizzate dalle detenute del carcere di Bologna. Tutti
i proventi derivanti da questa iniziativa serviranno a
sostenere importanti progetti per la lotta alla mortalità
infantile nell’Africa centrale e occidentale.
L’iniziativa delle Pigotte di Unicef è nata per creare un
cerchio di solidarietà che unisce i volontari Unicef,
chi realizza la bambola, chi la adotta e i bambini che
gioveranno dei programmi Unicef per la tutela dell’infanzia
nelle zone più difficili del mondo. Sarà Lea Boschetti
della Direzione Unicef Italia ad illustrare i dettagli di
questo percorso virtuoso che coinvolge associazioni,
case circondariali e strutture assistenziali in tutta Italia.
La realizzazione di queste bambole di pezza, rigorosamente fatte a mano, serve non
solo per aiutare i destinatari, ma anche le persone che le confezionano. È un’attività di
recupero e reinserimento nella società delle persone attraverso un impegno condiviso
che, attraverso il lavoro manuale, alimenta la consapevolezza di prendere parte a un
progetto etico di grande valore. Quest’anno, l’intento della onlus è anche raccogliere
firme per presentare una petizione al governo italiano affinché vengano promossi progetti
per garantire un futuro migliore ai bambini migranti, profughi e rifugiati.
“Per noi è fondamentale la partecipazione diretta a questa attività e la comunicazione
dell’impegno di Unicef - affermano Francesco Berselli e Mauro Cominoli, Presidente
e Direttore Generale di Varvel SpA - per cui ospitiamo sempre molto volentieri simili
iniziative nella nostra sede. Abbiamo la fortuna di vivere in una società che ci offre
tanto, ma non possiamo dimenticarci delle persone che vivono in situazioni difficili,
specialmente nel periodo delle festività natalizie, in cui bisogna riflettere sui valori
veramente importanti. Unicef, così come ANT e Medici Senza Frontiere, ci ricordano che
c’è sempre tanto da fare per aiutare chi ha davvero bisogno. Come azienda socialmente
responsabile, sentiamo il dovere di fare la nostra parte, condividendo il nostro impegno
con tutte le persone che lavorano con noi”.

Varvel SpA, an established Bolognese company operating at an international level, and
specialized in the conception, design and production of variators and reducers, being a
socially responsible entreprise, has been supporting ANT, Unicef and Doctors Without
Borders for over 10 years through the donation of 2 cents of a Euro to each of the
charities for each piece sold. In addition to this commitment there
is direct participation in other fundraising initiatives,
especially over the Christmas period.
Like last year, on 17 December Varvel will host Unicef
volunteers and their stand for the sale of Pigotte,
rag dolls made by inmates of Bologna prison. All the
takings from this initiative will be put towards important
projects supporting the fight against child mortality
in central and western Africa.
Unicef’s Pigotte initiative was started to create a circle
of solidarity to unite Unicef volunteers, those who make
the dolls, the people who adopt them and the children
who will benefit from this attention to childhood in some
of the most difficult areas of the world. Lea Boschetti
from Unicef Italy’s Top Management will illustrate the
details of this virtuous path which involves associations,
sheltered housing and welfare organizations all over Italy.
The making of these rag dolls, which are completely handmade, serves not only to help
those who will receive them, but also the people who make them. It is an example of
rehabilitation and reinsertion of those people in society through a shared commitment.
Through this manual work people are aware that they are taking part in an ethical project
with an enormous value. This year, it is also the intention of the charity to collect signatures
to present a petition to the Italian government so that projects promoting a better future
for migrant children, and refugees and asylum seekers may be supported.
