Truth is one and eternal. Realize oneness with it in your deathless Self, within.
The following commentary is based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda.
The Epistle of St. Paul to the Galatians contains this oft-quoted statement:
Be not deceived: God is not mocked; for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
In Autobiography of a Yogi Paramhansa tells a story from the life of the Benares saint
Trailanga Swami:
A skeptic once determined to expose Trailanga as a charlatan. A large bucket of calciumlime mixture, used in whitewashing walls, was placed before the swami.
“Master,” the materialist said, in mock reverence, “I have brought you some clabbered
milk. Please drink it.”
Trailanga unhesitatingly drained, to the last drop, the containerful of burning lime. In a few
minutes the evildoer fell to the ground in agony.
“Help, swami, help!” he cried. “I am on fire! Forgive my wicked test!”
The great yogi broke his habitual silence. “Scoffer,” he said, “you did not realize when you
offered me poison that my life is one with your own. Except for my knowledge that God is
present in my stomach, as in every atom of creation, the lime would have killed me. Now that
you know the divine meaning of boomerang, never again play tricks on anyone.”
The well-purged sinner, healed by Trailanga’s words, slunk feebly away.
Yogananda goes on to say:
The reversal of pain was not due to any volition of the master, but came about through
unerring application of the law of justice which upholds creation’s farthest swinging orb. Men
of God-realization like Trailanga allow the divine law to operate instantaneously; they have
banished forever all thwarting crosscurrents of ego.
Not by reason alone, but by Self-realization, are the ins and outs of destiny fully understood.
Their web, though tied forever to the post of ego-motivation, is too intricate to be perceived as a
single thread. Only great masters can see it with clarity. It is visible to them in all its workings—not
from within the tangle, but from above, in superconsciousness.
As Sri Krishna said in the fourth Chapter of the Bhagavad Gita:
He who beholds inaction in action, and action in inaction, is wise among men; he is one
with the Spirit; he has attained the true goal of action (perfect freedom).
Thus, through holy scripture, God has spoken to mankind.
GRATITUDE
From Affirmations for Self-Healing for Week 48

Gratitude is a way of returning energy for energy received. Only a thief takes without paying
for what he gets. And one who accepts a kindness without returning gratitude, as though the
kindness were his by right, demeans both the giver and himself. He demeans the giver, because by
ingratitude he implies that the kindness was inspired by selfish motives. And he demeans himself,
because by giving nothing in return he breaks the cycle of creativity, without which prosperity's
flow, both materially and spiritually, is blocked.
Accept nothing, inwardly, for yourself, but offer everything to God. Don't let yourself be
bought by others' kindnesses. Be grateful to them above all in your soul, by blessing or praying for
them. Give gratitude first of all to God, from Whom alone all blessings truly come.
Affirmation
I give thanks to the giver behind each gift,
and to the one Giver behind all that I receive.
My gratitude rises with devotion's incense
to the throne of Omnipresence.
Prayer
I thank Thee, Lord, for all Thy blessings. But most of all, I thank Thee for Thy love.
LA LEGGE DEL KARMA: SCHIAVITÙ O LIBERAZIONE DELL’ANIMA?

La Verità è una ed eterna. Realizza l’unione con essa
nel tuo Sé immortale, nel profondo del tuo essere.
Il seguente commento è basato sugli insegnamenti di Paramhansa Yogananda.
La Lettera di San Paolo ai Galati contiene quest’affermazione spesso citata:
Non vi fate illusioni; non ci si può prendere gioco di Dio. Ciascuno raccoglierà quello che
avrà seminato.
Nell’Autobiografia di uno Yogi Paramhansa Yogananda racconta una storia tratta dalla vita
di Swami Trailanga, il santo di Benares:
Una volta uno scettico decise di dimostrare che Trailanga era un ciarlatano. Davanti
allo swami venne posto un largo secchio colmo di mistura di calce, usata per imbiancare i
muri. «Maestro» disse il materialista con finta reverenza «Vi ho portato del latte cagliato. Vi
prego di berlo». Senza esitare, Trailanga bevve fino all’ultima goccia dal contenitore pieno di
calce caustica. Pochi istanti dopo, il malfattore cadde a terra in agonia.
«Aiuto, swami, aiuto!» gridò. «Sto bruciando! Perdonate la mia sfida malvagia!».
Il grande yogi infranse il suo abituale silenzio. «Schernitore!» gli disse. «Quando mi
hai offerto il veleno, non sapevi che la mia vita è tutt’uno con la tua? Se non avessi la piena
coscienza che Dio è presente nel mio stomaco come in ogni atomo della creazione, la calce mi
avrebbe ucciso. Ora che conosci il divino significato del boomerang, non fare mai più scherzi
del genere, a nessuno».
Il peccatore, purgato per bene e guarito dalle parole di Trailanga, sgattaiolò via
debolmente.
Yogananda prosegue dicendo: «Il rovesciamento del dolore non fu dovuto ad alcuna volontà
da parte del maestro, ma derivò dall’infallibile applicazione della legge di giustizia che sorregge il
più lontano astro orbitante della creazione. Uomini di realizzazione divina come Trailanga
permettono che la Legge Celeste operi istantaneamente; hanno bandito per sempre tutte le correnti
contrastanti dell’ego».
Non per mezzo della sola ragione, ma tramite la realizzazione del Sé, è possibile
comprendere completamente tutte le ramificazioni e i dettagli del destino. La loro ragnatela, benché
legata sempre al palo dei desideri dell’ego, è troppo intricata per poter essere percepita come un
unico filo. Solo i grandi maestri possono vederla con chiarezza e coglierne il funzionamento in ogni
particolare: non dall’interno del groviglio, ma dall’alto, dalla supercoscienza.
Come dice Sri Krishna nel Capitolo Quarto della Bhagavad Gita:
Saggio tra gli uomini è colui che vede l’inazione nell’azione, e l’azione nell’inazione: egli è
uno con lo Spirito e ha conseguito il vero scopo dell’azione (la perfetta libertà).
Così, attraverso la Sacra Scrittura, Dio ha parlato all’umanità.

Gratitudine

Practicate quest’affermazione ad alta voce, insieme con quest’audio-registrazione
La gratitudine è un modo per dare energia in cambio dell’energia ricevuta. Soltanto
un ladro prende senza pagare. Colui che accetta una gentilezza senza ricambiarla con
la gratitudine, come se fosse un suo diritto riceverla, svilisce sia il donatore che se
stesso. Svilisce il donatore, perché con l’ingratitudine lascia intendere che quella
gentilezza era animata da motivi egoistici. Svilisce se stesso, perché non dando nulla
in cambio, rompe il ciclo della creatività, senza il quale il flusso della prosperità, sia
materiale che spirituale, è bloccato.
Non accettare nulla, interiormente, per te stesso, ma offri ogni cosa a Dio. Non
lasciarti comperare dalle gentilezze degli altri. Sii loro grato soprattutto nella tua
anima, benedicendoli e pregando per loro. Rivolgi la tua gratitudine prima di tutto a
Dio, la sola Fonte di ogni benedizione.
Affermazione
Rendo grazie al donatore di ogni dono
e all’unico Donatore di tutto ciò che ricevo.
La mia gratitudine si eleva con l’incenso della devozione
fino al trono dell’Onnipresenza.
