Double beta decay experiments: status and prospects

study properties of neutrino and weak interactions. The two neutrino
double beta decay is detected in 11 nuclei with the half-lives on the level
of 1E19 - 1E24 yr. E.g., the most accurate measurement of the 116Cd
half-life was realized in the Gran Sasso Lab with enriched in 116Cd
cadmium tungstate scintillators. The experiment also gives one of the
most stringent limits on the neutrinoless mode of decay. Cadmium
tungstate scintillator from enriched 106Cd allows high sensitivity search
for double beta decay of 106Cd. Recently high quality zinc and lithium
molybdate scintillators were produced from enriched 100Mo to search
for double beta decay of 100Mo. Low background germanium detectors
are used to study double beta decay to excited levels of daughter nuclei
and double beta plus processes, including resonant neutrinoless double
electron captures. These resu! lts pave the way to explore the inverted
hierarchy of the neutrino mass.
Complex behaviour in many systems arises from Seminario congiunto ICRA e Dipartimento

particles or agents. Stochastic reaction-diffusion
processes are widely used to model such
behaviour in disciplines ranging from biology to
the social sciences, yet they are notoriously
difficult to simulate and calibrate to observational
data. On the other hand, spatio-temporal point
processes

advantages from the statistical perspective, and
can be coupled to dynamics via an evolving
intensity f! ield. In this talk, I will discuss how joint
time marginals of a stochastic reaction-diffusion
process can be approximated in a mean-field
sense by a spatio-temporal Cox process. The

COMET experiment
Hoai Nam Tran (Università di Osaka)
COMET is a new experiment that aims to find the neutrinoless decay of
muon to electron in a nuclear field (muon to electron conversion). The
process is forbidden in the Standard Model, but is predicted to occur at a
detectable level in various extensions of the SM. The current
experimental upper limit of the decay is 7E-13, the COMET is set to
search for it at a single event sensitivity of 2.6E-17. The first stage of the
experiment, so-called COMET Phase I, will start to take data in 2018.
