Si chiama Henn-na ed è collocato nella circoscrizione di
Nagasaki, all’interno di un parco a
tema che ricorda l’Olanda del 1600,
il primo albergo del mondo con
gestione high – tech. L’obiettivo
è quello di limitare al minimo
l’interazione tra clienti e personale,
tramite servizi computerizzati e
una parte di dipendenti costituita
da automi. In una prima fase sono
state previsti pochi robot, impiegati soprattutto al bar, al check-in
o check-out e alla lavanderia, ma
l’obiettivo è quello di sfruttare
la scienza legata alla robotica per
avere sino al 90% dei dipendenti
robot. Insomma, uno scenario
degno di un libro di Asimov!

the no-waste toothpaste
“The design of every tube of toothpaste dates all the way back to the later 19th century,
and it’s unbelievable to think that it survived till today”, said the student of the University of Arizona who designed a new toothpaste packaging, destined to replace the
traditional tube. The new holder, while not getting rid of the cylindrical shape, not only
is capable to balance itself straight up, but, thanks to its accordion-like structure, also
guarantees a more efficient milking. Use after use, the toothpaste tube can be shortened –
just like a pleated accordion – until it lays flat and empty.

dichiarato la studentessa dell’Università
dell’Arizona che ha ideato il nuovo
package per pasta dentifricia, destinato
a soppiantare il tradizionale tubetto.
La nuova confezione presenta ancora
una forma cilindrica ed è in grado di
stare in equilibrio da sola ma in più è
a spirale, ricorda cioè la forma di una
fisarmonica e, secondo la progettista,
è il dettaglio che ne permetterà una
più facile spremitura. Man mano che
il dentifricio viene usato, il tubetto
si accorcia come le plissettature di
una fisarmonica fino a che non si
appiattisce come un foglio ripiegato.

Chef inventa Kepurp, il Kebab di pesce
A dare l’idea allo Chef napoletano Ciro Salatiello sono
state le figlie che desideravano un pasto comodo da portare in giro. Così ispirandosi alla tradizione dello street
food e vedendo molti chioschi di kebab, ha pensato al
pesce come piatto da strada. Il kepurp è una versione
decisamente più fresca, sana ed è legata alla tradizione
napoletana che utilizza molto il polpo. Per confezionarlo
sono necessari almeno 25 Kg di materia prima bollita
che viene poi pressata in un contenitore cilindrico e
fatta freddare. Il nome deriva da una rivisitazione del
dialetto: il polpo a Napoli si chiama infatti ‘o purp’.
Cook invents the Kerpup the fish-kebab
For the Neapolitan chef Ciro Salatiello, the idea came from
his daughter’s wish of a nice, easy to take around meal. Thus,
taking inspirations from the street and looking at the many
kebab kiosks, he reinvented fish as a street food. The “kerpup”
is a fresher and healthier version of the famous street snack,
now bonded to the Neapolitan tradition, which makes great
use of octopus. To prepare it, at least 25 kilograms of raw
ingredients need to be boiled, then pressed in a cylindrical container, and finally allowed to cool. The name comes
from joining Turkish and Neapolitan dialect: the octopus, in
Napoli, is called “o purp”.

“R
oma saprà come sempre esprimere al meglio la propria
organizzazione e la propria umanità”, l’arcivescovo
Rino Fisichella, cui è stata affidata la regia dell’Anno
Santo che inizia l’8 dicembre, non ha dubbi. In un mondo
che rotola lungo aridi sentieri dove spiritualità e religione
sembrano assenti, Papa Francesco ha voluto richiamare i
cattolici lungo il cammino della Fede e li ha invitati a venire a
Roma per “vivere la grazia del Giubileo”. Spiegando anche la
semplicità di questa esperienza: “Per ottenere l’indulgenza –
ha detto il Papa – i fedeli sono chiamati a compiere un breve

pellegrinaggio verso la Porta Santa e nelle quattro Basiliche
Papali a Roma, come segno del desiderio profondo di vera
conversione”.
E’ l’animus a fare la differenza, contano la Misericordia
e la Conversione. Certo, la città cercherà di sfruttare
un’opportunità storica, soprattutto sotto il profilo economico, vista la spinta che l’evento darà senza dubbio all’economia
di Roma e del Lazio, provate anch’esse dalla crisi. Secondo
gli economisti, l’impatto del Giubileo sull’economia locale
potrebbe portare ad un incremento di quasi 11,5 miliardi di

La città cerca di migliorarsi. Lavori stradali sono in corso quasi ovunque, strutture e servizi stanno incrementando la qualità dell’accoglienza. E, sullo sfondo,
la magica Roma di sempre, unica e straordinaria, con i suoi monumenti, i
tesori archeologici, i musei, la sua gente, la sua atmosfera unica. Tra i grandi
eventi già fissati, fra i più attesi sono il raduno per i ragazzi tra i 13 e i 16 anni, il
24 aprile 2016, l’incontro tra la Chiesa e il mondo del volontariato fissato per il
4 settembre, l’abbraccio agli ammalati in piazza San Pietro, in programma il 12
giugno, mentre il 6 novembre Papa Francesco vorrebbe portare i detenuti delle
carceri romane dentro la basilica di San Pietro. L’apertura delle altre Porte
Sante, oltre quella di San Pietro, procederanno così: il 13 dicembre quella di
San Giovanni in Laterano e delle altre basiliche diocesane di tutto il mondo,
il 1 gennaio toccherà a Santa Maria Maggiore, e il 25 gennaio sarà la volta
della Basilica di San Paolo. Fino al 20 novembre 2016, quando l’Anno Santo si
concluderà.

Per diventare volontari per
il Giubileo bisogna avere
18 anni ed offrire la propria
disponibilità per almeno
una settimana. I volontari
dovranno assistere i pellegrini, accoglierli nei punti
di ritrovo, accompagnarli
sui percorsi riservati per
l’accesso alle Basiliche Papali, per l’accesso alla Porta
Santa, per le preghiere nelle
Basiliche. Alle spese di vitto
e alloggio per il soggiorno
a Roma provvederà il Vaticano, a carico del volontario
saranno soltanto le spese del
viaggio per e da Roma.

“R
ome will know, as always, how to best express her order and
her humanity”, Archbishop Rino Fisichiella, director of the
Holy Year starting December 8th, has no doubts. In a world
walking on barren paths where spirituality and religion seem absent,
Pope Francis wanted to gather Catholics back on the path of Faith,
and invited them to come to Rome “to live the grace of the Jubilee”. He did, explaining the ease behind this experience: “To obtain
indulgence – said the Pope –, the faithful are asked to fulfill a short
pilgrimage to the Holy Door and to the four Papal Basilicas in Rome,
as a sign of the profound desire for true conversion”. The animus is
what makes a difference; Mercy and Conversion are what matter.
Certainly, the city will try to capitalize a memorable opportunity,
especially in terms of economy, given then boost that the event will
doubtlessly imprint to the crisis-crippled Rome and Lazio. According

gathering for boys and girls between 13 and

November 6th, Pope Francis would like to
accompany the detained of Roman prisons
inside the Saint Peter basilica. The opening

comienza el 8 de diciembre, no tiene dudas . En un mundo que
avanza a lo largo de caminos áridos donde la espiritualidad y la
religión parecen ausentes , el Papa Francisco deseaba señalar a los
católicos el camino de la fe y los invitó a venir a Roma para “ vivir
la gracia del Jubileo”. Explicando la simplicidad de la experiencia:
“Para obtener la indulgencia - dijo el Papa - los fieles están llamados
a hacer una breve peregrinación a la Puerta Santa y a las cuatro
basílicas papales de Roma , como signo del profundo deseo de una
verdadera conversión “. Y en el animus para marcar la diferencia,
es necesario la misericordia y conversión. Por supuesto , la ciudad
va a intentar aprovechar una oportunidad histórica, sobre todo
económicamente, debido al impulso que el evento provocará, sin
duda, en la economía de Roma y Lazio, afectadas por la crisis. Según
los economistas, el impacto del Jubileo en la economía local podría
conducir a un aumento de casi de 11,5 mil millones de euros PIB
entre el 2015 y el 2018 . La ciudad intenta mejorar. En muchos sitios
se están llevando a cabo mejoras en las infraestructuras viarias,
instalaciones y servicios están mejorando su calidad. . Y, en el fondo,
la magia de Roma, única y extraordinaria, con sus monumentos,
tesoros arqueológicos, museos, su gente, su ambiente único. Entre
los principales eventos cerrados, destacan la reunión para los niños
de entre 13 y 16 años el dia 24 de abril 2016, el encuentro entre la
Iglesia y el sector del voluntariado el 4 de septiembre, al abrazo a los
enfermos en la Plaza de San Pedro, prevista el 12 de junio, y el 6 de
noviembre,el Papa desea traer a los detenidos en las prisiones a la
basílica romana de San Pedro. La apertura de las otras Puertas Santas; además de la de San Pedro, se abrirán, el 13 de diciembre la de
San Juan de Letrán y otras basílicas diocesanas de todo el mundo, el
1 de enero la de Santa María Mayor y el 25 de enero le tocará de San
Pablo. Todo estos eventos tendrán su fin el 20 de noviembre 2016, que
es el fecha de conclusión del Año Santo.

S
ono pochi gli elementi che servono a Fassbender per immedesimarsi in un nuovo ruolo. Un dolce
vita scuro e dei piccoli occhiali da vista questa volta lo trasformano in Steve Jobs. E se la somiglianza
fisica non lo aiuta, sono le sue potenti qualità interpretative a renderlo credibile e a trasformare la
distanza dal personaggio in un vero e proprio punto di forza. «Abbiamo deciso che non dovevo somigliargli per niente […] l’obiettivo era piuttosto quello di incapsulare il suo spirito».
Lo spirito che l’attore dovrà portare sul grande schermo è quello del fondatore della Apple, uomo dal
carattere spigoloso e dalla volontà di ferro. La pellicola, diretta da Danny Boyle e basata sulla biografia
scritta da Walter Isaacson, si preannuncia già come una delle più attese del 2016. Non un’opera celebrativa, ma un ritratto inedito e originale che mostrerà al grande pubblico il lato più oscuro del genio di
Cupertino. Un’immedesimazione difficile, tenuto conto sia della singolarità del personaggio, noto per
la sua personalità spesso controversa, sia della sua dichiarata natura anti-tecnologica.
Ma del resto a Michael le cose semplici non sono mai piaciute. Non a caso, la sua strada è stata tutta in
salita, a cominciare dalla scelta del primo palcoscenico da calcare, quello del teatro, meno immediato e
più sofferto, scoperto da adolescente in un corso amatoriale. Certo il fascino aiuta. Capelli rossi e occhi
blu, Fassbender incarna la magia dell’Irlanda, isola natìa della sua mamma, e la solidità della Germania,
dov’è nato da padre tedesco 37 anni fa. Un mix genetico irresistibile, che lo ha consacrato nella top ten
degli uomini più desiderati di Hollywood. Eppure, a detta sua, le donne lo hanno sempre ignorato.
«Anni fa mi trovavano noioso, adesso improvvisamente tutto ciò che dico è diventato interessante».
Non si direbbe, a giudicare dalle bellissime ex cui ha spezzato il cuore. Misteri del successo.

Working his way up to the Oscar
Everyone can poke his nose in the school board ads,
but not many can find the one that will change their
destiny. Between alerts and timetables, Fassbender
finds an advertisement for some unpretentious acting lessons, which will take him to drop his studies
to join the London Drama Centre. After working
his way up through television shows, in 2006 he gets
his great shot with the big hit 300. In 2011, his role
in Shame grants him the Coppa Volpi at the 68th
Venice Film Festival, while his role as a tantalizer
in 12 years a slave is worth his first Academy award
nomination for best non supporting actor.

assbender doesn’t need much to embody his next role. This time,
a dark turtleneck and a small pair of glasses are all he needs to
get into Steve Jobs’ shoes. And if physical resemblance isn’t really
there, it’s his powerful acting abilities to make him believable and
to transform the distance with the character in a strong point. «We
decided I shouldn’t resemble him at all […] rather, the goal was to
picture his spirit».
The soul that the actor will have to bring onto the big screen
is the one of the founder of Apple, a cantankerous and strong
willed man. The film, directed by Danny Boyle and based on the
biography written by Walter Isaacson, is already one of the most
anticipated for 2016. It is not a celebratory work, but an original
and unprecedented portrait, that will show everyone the darkest
side of the genius from Cupertino.
After all, Michael never liked easy tasks. No wonder, his career
was always uphill, starting from the first stage he walked on, for
the theater – harder, and of less immediate satisfaction –, after being discovered in his teens during a beginner course. Of course, being handsome comes in handy. Red hair and blue eyes, Fassbender
embodies the magic of Ireland, his mother’s native island, and the
firmness of Germany, where his father was born, 37 years ago.
A mix hard to resist to, that put him into the top ten of the most
desired Hollywood actors. But, according to him, women always
looked past him. «Years ago, they found me boring; now, all of a
sudden, everything I say is extremely interesting». It wouldn’t
seem, judging from the beautiful girlfriends he left heartbroken.
What a mystery.

ome fai a non innamorarti di me? Sono come la cioccolata...” La ricorderete libera e sensuale, con la camicia
a quadri e i capelli raccolti sotto al berretto, stretta tra le
braccia di un giovanissimo Richard Gere nel memorabile Ufficiale
e gentiluomo (1982). Il film, che le valse la prima nomination agli
Oscar, fu solo l’inizio dell’ascesa di Debra Winger nel firmamento patinato di Hollywood. Prima c’era stato l’Urban Cowboy
di James Bridges (1980), a fianco di un geloso John Travolta, poi
seguì lo struggente Voglia di tenerezza (J.L Brooks1983) che fece
scalpore per la liason con Jack Nicholson e l’accesa rivalità con
Shirley MacLaine. Ribelle e determinata, con il fascino irriducibile di chi non ama i compromessi, Debra Winger ha fatto la
storia del cinema degli anni Ottanta, ma la fama che la travolse a
venticinque anni giungeva soltanto dopo una lunga gavetta e un

percorso personale tutt’altro che in discesa. Prima di diventare
una star, o il sex-symbol di una generazione, Debra ha avuto una
vita intensa, con tanto di servizio militare prestato nell’esercito
israeliano e una carriera da stunt-woman distrutta da un incidente
quasi mortale, che l’ha lasciata cieca e semi-paralizzata per molti
mesi. Forse è per questo che lo scintillio di Hollywood le è sempre
andato stretto e le sue intemperanze all’interno del jet set hanno
riempito più di un rotocalco. “Se provi a dire tutta la verità o si
metteranno a ridere o ti uccideranno” disse una volta citando
G.B. Shaw. E la sua dirompente sincerità è stata forse tra i principali motivi della rottura tra questa attrice straordinaria e lo star
system da cui ha preso le distanze. Lei che sapeva portare sullo
schermo la dolcezza di un sorriso disarmante e una malinconica
fragilità che la rendeva anche più irresistibile, è stata spesso ri-
tratta come una donna audace e volitiva, irriverente quanto basta
per attirarsi potenti inimicizie. Una reputazione poco favorevole
alle dinamiche codificate del divismo, tanto che nonostante
l’intensità delle sue interpretazioni, per tre volte candidate agli
Oscar, dalla metà degli anni ‘90 è scomparsa a poco a poco dalle
scene. Che ne è stato in quegli anni di Debra? Se lo sono chiesto
in molti e Rosanna Arquette ci ha persino girato un documentario nel 2002, con il titolo eloquente di Searching for Debra Winger. Dalle parole dell’attrice, che ha preso parte al film, emerge
tutto il disgusto per le contraddizioni che spesso avvelenano la
realtà di Hollywood, per le invidie e le ipocrisie che trapelano
dietro le quinte. Qualcuno la considera un’irriconoscente, ma
Debra non riesce ad essere altro da se stessa e preferisce la verità
a un’affettata compiacenza. Fortunatamente, per chi ha amato le
sue doti, il ritiro dal grande schermo non è stato definitivo: dopo
il successo di Rachel sta per sposarsi di Jonathan Demme (2008), a
partire dal 3 Dicembre potremo tornare ad ammirarla in sala. Sarà
infatti nel cast di Boychoir- Fuori dal coro, il film diretto da Francois
Gerard presentato al Toronto International Film Festival. Come
in Whiplash di Damien Chazelle, la trama si gioca sullo scontro/
confronto tra un giovanissimo talento musicale, in questo caso
canoro, e la severità di un’istruzione tesa a plasmarne le potenzialità. La figura del maestro implacabile avrà il volto di Dustin
Hoffmann mentre l’adolescente Stet sarà interpretato da Garrett
Wareing. Debra Winger comparirà nei panni della signora Steel,
al fianco di altri nomi di spicco come Josh Lucas e Kathy Bates.
Un cast promettente per un grande ritorno che, siamo certi, non
ci lascerà delusi.

ow could you not fall in love with me? I’m like chocolate…». You’ll
remember her, open and seductive, with a checked shirt and the
hair kept in a bun under the hat, held tight by the arms of a young
Richard Gere, in the memorable A Officer and a Gentleman (1982). The
movie, worth her first Oscar nomination, was only the beginning of the
climb of Debra Winger to the top of Hollywood’s star system. Before that,
there was Urban Cowboy by James Bridges (1980), together with a jealous John Travolta; then followed a moving Terms of Endearment (J. L.
Brooks, 1983), which caused sensation due to affair with Jack Nicholson
and the rivalry with Shirley MacLaine.
Rebellious and resolute, with the charm of those who don’t love compromising, Debra Winger wrote the history of movies in the 80s, but the fame
she gained when she was 25 years of age arrived only after working her
way up, which has not been easy. Before becoming a star, or the sex-symbol
of an entire generation, Debra had an intense life, including military service in the Israeli army and a stuntman career ended by a nearly deadly
accident, which left her blind and semi-paralyzed for several months.
Maybe those are the reasons why the sparkling Hollywood was never

that often poison Hollywood, for the envy and hypocrisies that creep behind the scene. Someone thinks her ungrateful, but Debra can’t be anyone
but herself, and prefers the truth to a phony compliance. Luckily, for those
who loved her acting, her retirement wasn’t definitive: after the success
of Rachel getting married by Jonathan Demme (2008), starting from
December 3rd we can admire her at the movies again. She will be in the
cast of She will be in the cast of Boychoir, the movie directed by Francos
Gerard and screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Just like in Whiplash by Damien Chazelle, the story is based on a clash/
confrontation between a young musical talent, a singer this time, and the
severity of a education meant to forge his ability. The relentless teacher
will be played by Dustin Hoffmann, while the teenager Stet will have the
face of Garret Wareing. Debra Winger will play Miss Steel, together with
other important names as Josh Lucas and Kathy Bathes. A promising cast
for a big comeback that, we are sure of it, won’t leave us disappointed.

Nella sua cucina ci sono le armonie della musica, così come le interruzioni violente del ritmo; ci sono le domande aperte dell’Arte e i dubbi del vero artista.
In un epoca in cui gli chef sono diventati star e tutti sono diventati chef, il nostro
modenese si distingue per raffinatezza di stile e capacità di visione, conquista il
primo posto in Italia e il secondo sul piano internazionale –subito dopo ‘El Celler
de Can Rocà dei fratelli Joan, Josep e Jordi Roca, a Girona in Catalogna.
Negli anni ’70 inizia la formazione del suo palato, grazie alle gite enogastronomiche organizzate dalla famiglia, la curiosità cresce e la passione diventa professione. Sperimenta la cucina al fianco di maestri quali lo spagnolo Ferran Adrià,
esperto della cucina molecolare, e del francese naturalizzato monegasco Alain
Ducasse. Rientra in Italia e crea il tempio dove consacrare la sua arte, l’Osteria
Francescana. A Modena, da dove tutto ha avuto inizio. La moglie, Lara Gilmore,
conosciuta a New York durante gli anni della formazione, è colei che lo ha avvicinato all’arte contemporanea e insieme alla quale cura la loro preziosa collezione
che si divide tra le dodici stanze del ristorante e l’elegante appartamento in centro
città: Olafur Eliasson, Matthew Barney, Francesco Vezzoli, Ugo Rondinone, Mario Schifano, per citarne alcuni. L’ Arte è la risposta, l’ingrediente segreto. Lo si
capisce anche sfogliando le pagine del suo incantevole libro “Never trust a skinny
italian chef” (Phaidon), tradotto in italiano con il più romantico titolo “Vieni in
Italia con me” (L’ippocampo): curatissimo fino all’ultimo dettaglio, il volume si
apre con una introduzione-conversazione, molto surreale, tra l’artista Maurizio
Cattelan e lo chef. Prosegue con dittici di foto di piatti e opere d’arte contemporanea e, molto più di qualsiasi altro, ormai inflazionatissimo, libro di cucina, vieni
in Italia con me fa riflettere. Nutre il palato, la mente e l’anima. Arrivato al gradino
più alto, Bottura sogna la costituzione di un'università che formi i cuochi del futuro, "sogno un’università nel senso che aveva nel Rinascimento quando Universitas
era la comunità degli studiosi”, perché è la cultura il principale ingrediente della

“S
quadra che vince non si cambia”, con queste parole di
Marco Galletti, organizzatore della manifestazione, si è
aperta la seconda edizione di Supercar, il salone dell'auto
non convenzionale, che in pochissimo tempo è già diventata
un vero e proprio punto di riferimento per tutti gli amanti delle
quattro ruote. Con quasi cinquanta mila visitatori, l'evento è
riuscito non solo a replicare, ma anche a migliorare il numero di
presenze rispetto allo scorso anno. L'entusiasmo del pubblico,
si riflette anche nelle parole di Giancarlo Fisichella: La seconda
edizione di Supercar è stata una piacevole conferma [...] anche
Roma è una città con tanti appassionati di motori, e incontrarli
è sempre bello. L'ex pilota di Formula 1, testimonial ufficiale
della kermesse, ha partecipato al consueto taglio del nastro
insieme agli organizzatori ed è stata una presenza fissa in tutte
e tre le giornate di manifestazione, accompagnato dalla famiglia
e, nella giornata di sabato, dall'amico ed ex calciatore Vincenzo Montella. L'anima dell'evento, tuttavia, restano le auto, in
particolare le dodici Regine, a cui è stato riservato un intero
padiglione: Ferrari 488, Jaguar F Type 3.0 V6 Coupé AWD,
Bentley Continental MY 2016, Maserati Gran Cabrio MC Centennial Edition, McLaren 540 C, Porsche Targa S4, Tesla S P85D, Ford

01 e Viotti AW 380 Berlinetta. Supercar è un mix esplosivo a 360 gradi
dove hanno trovato ospitalità nei tre padiglioni di Fiera Roma, oltre
ai marchi generalisti, anche l’Aftermarket, il Motorsport, il Tuning,
i simulatori F1, i mezzi speciali forniti dall’Esercito Italiano e dalle
Forze dell’Ordine e l’ Ecotech Mobility, una grande area green dedicata
alla mobilità sostenibile.
Supercar non è solo una mostra, ma soprattutto una grande opportunità di partecipare in prima persona agli show che si svolgono
negli spazi esterni del polo fieristico, diventando protagonista per un
giorno, sedendo accanto al pilota durante giri di pista emozionanti e
mozzafiato. Oltre alle sfilate delle Supercar, alle esibizioni di drifting
e agli spettacoli degli stuntman, la manifestazione è stata anche un
punto di riferimento per i più piccini con la possibilità di provare i
baby-kart. Supercar, anche quest'anno, non ha deluso le aspettative e si
è confermato come il Salone delle forti emozioni. E tutti già si chiedono cosa avranno in mente gli organizzatori per la prossima edizione.
La manifestazione ha promosso e sostenuto
l'Associazione Peter Pan, che si occupa di dare
un sostegno alle famiglie con bambini malati di
tumore. In particolare, l'Onlus ha creato strutture di accoglienza per le famiglie non residenti
a Roma che vengono nella Capitale per curare
i propri figli negli Ospedali Bambino Gesù e

these words Marco Galletti, event organiser, opened the second edition of Supercar, the kermesse dedicated to non conventional
cars, which, in such a short time, has already
become a cornerstone for all the car lovers.
With nearly fifty-thousand visitors, the
event non only confirmed, but improved the
number of attendees compared to last year. The
enthusiasm of the audience can be also felt from
Giancarlo Fisichella´s words: “The second
edition of Supercar was a cleared any doubt:

and meeting them is always a pleasure.
Formula 1 ex-pilot and official testimonial of
the event, Fisichella took place to the traditional

ieci anni di lavoro segretissimo, milioni di capitali investiti e
centinaia di addetti ai lavori. Tutto per realizzare il sogno di
Christian Borgward: riportare in vita la casa automobilistica
fondata dal nonno nel lontano 1929. La storia del marchio nasce
a Brema, durante la Repubblica di Weimar, dall’idea di un giovane di umili origini, Carl Friedrich Wilhelm, che, partendo dalla
produzione di radiatori e parafanghi, entra nel campo dell’auto
con il Blitzkarren, un curioso veicolo a tre ruote utilizzato dai
commercianti per le consegne. Il successo internazionale arriva,
tuttavia, solo nel 1954 con il lancio della Isabella, che diventa
fin da subito una delle vetture più amate dagli automobilisti
d’oltreoceano. Leggenda vuole che il nome sia stato ispirato dalla
proprietaria di un hotel che Herr Borgward, figlio del fondatore,
conobbe mentre era in vacanza con la moglie e dal quale rimase
colpito per la sua folgorante bellezza. I fasti dei primi anni 50’,
però, lasciano ben presto spazio alla profonda recessione ameri-

cana del 1958 che influisce così negativamente sulle vendite della
casa tedesca, da costringere i Borgward a dichiarare fallimento
nel 1961. Il silenzio, durato oltre cinquant’anni, si interrompe
improvvisamente la scorsa primavera, con un annuncio shock:
un ritorno sul mercato in grande stile, con l’obiettivo ambizioso
di vendere 800.000 auto entro il 2020 e 1,6 milioni nel 2025.
Nonostante in molti siano rimasti perplessi, la prima promessa,
a pochi mesi dall’annuncio, è stata già mantenuta: al salotto
buono dell’auto, il Salone di Francoforte, è stata presentata la
prima vettura dello storico brand tedesco. Un SUV moderno
ed elegante, che strizza l'occhio a modelli ben più noti, come
l’Audi Q5, ma che si presenta come un auto dal lusso accessibile.
Per vedere i risultati di questa grande operazione di rinascita,
bisognerà ancora attendere. Il desiderio di Christian, invece, può
dirsi realizzato: «Personalmente il rilancio della Borgward è un
sogno di bambino che diventa realtà».

hundreds of top workers. All this, to make Christian Borgward’s
dream come true: to bring back to life the automaker company his
grandfather opened in 1929. The brand was born in Bremen, during
the Weimar Republic, thanks to the idea of a humble young, Carl Friedrich Wilhelm, who, beginning from radiators and mudguards, went
to enter the car world with the Blitzkarren, a curious three-wheeled
vehicle used by retailers for their deliveries. International success,
however, is reached only in 1954 with the launch of Isabella, one of
the most loved cars from the drivers across the ocean. Legend has it
that the name was inspired by a hotel keeper that Herr Borgward,
son of the founder, met while on vacation with his wife, getting struck
by her dazzling beauty. The splendor of the first half of the Fifties,
however, were soon taken over by the Deep Depression of ’58, hitting
the German automaker so hard that Borgward was forced to file for
bankruptcy in 1961. The silence, which lasted more than 50 years,
stopped suddenly last spring, with a shocking announcement: a comeback, with the ambitious goal of selling 800.000 vehicles before 2020,
and 1.6 million before 2025. Although leaving many puzzled and
perplexed, the first promise, a few months after the announcement, has
already been kept: at the IAA, in Frankfurt, it was unveiled the first
car of the historic German brand. A modern and classy SUV which
takes inspirations from notorious models like Audi Q5, while selling
itself as an accessible luxury car. To see the result of this renewal,
we'll need to wait. Christian's wish, however, has been fulfilled: «To
me,relaunching Borgward is a childhood dream come true».

deep and strong blue serves as background to the charming
portrait of a young blonde woman, whose identity is a true
mystery. Not even the author of the shot, photographer Peter
Sahula, can give an answer; what he can do, like anyone else, is to
come up with theories. The most believable is that she’s the German model Dagmar Dreger, who worked with the artist from
the beginning of 1960 to 1965, year when the picture was chosen
as the cover for the masterpiece album Otis Blue. From 1965 on,
however, there is no news about her. To make the mystery even
deeper, too, are the people who, after carefully studying her facial
traits, recognized the blonde hair and the bluish skin as the ones
of the singer Nico. The artist, famous for her collaboration with
Velvet Underground, was questioned more than once about it,
but she always kept the mystery on, neither rejecting or confirming the theory. This is the reason why, for the 50th anniversary
of the album, the foundation dedicated to the king of soul, Otis
Redding, launched an original campaign to solve the enigma once
and for all. With the hashtag #finddagmar, anyone can leave a
comment or send precious information, actively participating to
the search for the mysterious girl. Thanks to Otis, we can all play
detectives… unless Dagmar doesn’t show up by herself.

n blu intenso e profondo fa da sfondo al ritratto ammaliante di
una giovane donna dal caschetto biondo, la cui identità è avvolta da un autentico mistero. Nemmeno l’autore dello scatto,
il fotografo Peter Sahula, sa darsi una risposta; quello che può fare,
anche lui, è solamente formulare delle ipotesi. La più accreditata è
che si tratti della modella tedesca Dagmar Dreger, con cui l'artista
ha lavorato dall'inizio degli anni '60 fino al 1965, anno nel quale la
foto è stata scelta come copertina del disco capolavoro Otis Blue.
Proprio dal ‘65, tuttavia, di lei non si sono avute più notizie. A
rendere ancora più fitto l'enigma, inoltre, ci hanno pensato anche
tutti coloro che, studiandone con attenzione i tratti somatici,
hanno riconosciuto in quei capelli biondi e in quell'incarnato com-

pletamente blu il volto della cantante Nico. L'artista, famosa per
le sue collaborazioni con i Velvet Underground, è stata interpellata
più volte sulla questione, ma ha sempre preferito contribuire ad

Ovest di Cuba, nel blu profondo del Mar dei Caraibi, sorge
l’isola di Cayo Largo. La bellezza leggendaria di quest’isola è
rimasta intatta nel corso degli anni, meritoriamente tenuta al
riparo da ogni forma di edilizia incontrollata ma resa felice da 27
chilometri di spiagge, un clima mite durante tutto l’anno e meraviglie degne del più esotico degli Eden. Il mare, naturalmente, ne
è l’indiscusso protagonista, con la sua distesa color cristallo che riflette l’azzurro sconfinato del cielo. Le sue acque cangianti ai raggi del sole caraibico sanno incantare e lambire i sensi, catturando
lo sguardo e sussurrando promesse di relax e assoluta intimità.
Non a caso, una delle spiagge più note dell’isola si chiama proprio
Playa Sirena. Lasciarsene ammaliare è ancora più facile di quanto
si creda: nonostante la fama e il fascino rinomato, le strutture
sono discrete e il suo aspetto è quello che ci si attenderebbe da
una spiaggia incontaminata. Percorrendola, su sabbia soffice e
sottile come borotalco, si raggiunge la contigua Playa Paraiso, che
rende onore al suo nome con il mare turchino e la spiaggia bianchissima, abitata da granchi e visitata da piccole mante e stelle

marine. La fauna locale è comprensibilmente un altro motivo di
attrazione: pellicani, iguane e testuggini popolano in abbondanza
le spiagge vergini dell’isola e si relazionano tranquillamente con
l’essere umano: con l’ovvia eccezione dei coccodrilli che abitano
le acque dell’interno. Per gli amanti delle immersioni, tappeti
di corallo e spugne tropicali circondano banchi di pesci barriera
lungo fondali multicolore, alternandosi a grotte sottomarine e a
pareti di gorgonie variopinte. Se pinne e boccaglio non fanno per
voi, potete sempre spostarvi via terra a suon di musica caraibica,
scegliendo il mezzo più congeniale tra auto, trenini su ruote o
semplici biciclette. In questo modo potrete fare tappa al Centro
di Ricovero delle Tartarughe, dove le uova di questi incredibili
animali sono raccolte e custodite fino alla schiusa. Accordandovi
con il gentilissimo personale, potrete anche assistere alla messa in
libertà dei piccoli di tartaruga, per vederli raggiungere il mare per
la prima volta; uno spettacolo che toglie il fiato. Quando scende la
sera sulle spiagge vergini, è il momento della movida. Cuba è a un
soffio di onde e la notte si scatena in Salsa.

all-year round, and by wonders worthy of the most exotics
of the gardens of Eden. The sea, of course, is the undisputed
protagonist, stretching in a crystal blue mirror that reflects
the boundless blue of the sky.
Its water shimmers with the sunbeams, charming and brushing one’s senses by capturing fascinated looks and whispering
promises of relax and absolute intimacy. Now wonder one of
the most famous shores of the island is called Playa Sirena –
the Mermaid Shore. Being bewitched is easier than you may
think: despite its fame and well known appeal, the facilities
are subtle, and its appearance is what you would expect
from an uncontaminated island. Walking through it, on soft
sands as fine as talc, you can reach the near Playa Paraiso,
honoring its name with turquoise waters and white beaches,
populated by crabs and visited by manta rays and sea stars.
The local fauna is, understandably, another reason for
attraction: pelicans, iguanas, and tortoises profusely populate
the virgin shores of the island, and calmly share them with
humans: with the exception, of course, of the crocodiles who
choose some of the inner waters as their habitats. For the
scuba lovers, coral carpets and tropical sponges surround
shoals of reef fish on rainbow ocean floors, alternating
between underwater caves and colorful soft coral walls. If
snorkel and fins are not your thing, you can always move
by land, with a soundtrack of Caribbean music, choosing
between cars, small trains or simple bikes. This way you can
visit the Turtles Shelter, where the eggs of these incredible
animals are gathered and kept safe till they hatch. Making
arrangements with the staff, you could also take part and
assist to the release of the tortoise young, to watch over
them as they reach the water for the first time; a breathless

Thoreau. Ma se scegliete di esplorare la Bassa California il
primo consiglio è di non dargli retta: una macchina è d’obbligo,
meglio ancora una jeep. Meta dal fascino selvatico, esotica e
seducente, la penisola della Bassa California è il luogo dove le lande
deserte sposano spiagge incontaminate e un mare screziato di
smeraldo lambisce le sagome bianche degli scogli. Per godere di
questi paradisi tuttavia è necessario spostarsi, spesso per lunghi
tratti privi di ristori e vegetazione, motivo per cui il secondo
consiglio è di premunirsi di piccole scorte. Naturalmente nei centri
principali, come San Josè e San Lucas, insieme compongono la provincia de Los Cabos, servizi e commercio a misura di turista sono
garantiti da esercizi di ogni tipo. Ma quella che vogliamo raccontarvi è la penisola più autentica e intatta, ricca di splendidi paesaggi
naturali e di percorsi avventurosi. È il caso di Guerrero Negro,

semplice: in questi mesi, nella vicina Laguna Ojo de Liebre, potete

compagnia dei loro cuccioli. Nelle zone più riparate, dove le acque
sono più tranquille, vi sarà possibile persino toccarle. Risalendo
poi il deserto verso Santa Rosalia, sotto un cielo che al tramonto
assume incredibili sfumature e proietta sulle dune le ombre scure
dei cactus, raggiungerete il villaggio di San Ignacio. Colonizzato
nel 1700 dai gesuiti, conserva l’architettura dei missionari, con una
bellissima chiesa in legno e pietra lavica. Qui potrete rinfrescarvi
all’ombra delle palme, unica macchia rigogliosa tra chilometri
di deserto, e sostare alla Casa Lereé, quella blu, che nel villaggio
conoscono tutti. Ci troverete Juanita, pronta a narrarvi le storie
del passato, dei pochi abitanti eei molti viaggiatori. Un bagaglio
prezioso da portare con voi, quando ripartirete all’alba verso il sole
che incendia l’orizzonte.

However, if you choose to venture into Lower California, you
shouldn’t follow his advice: there, a car is a must, a Jeep even
better. Charming with a wild appeal, the exotic and seducing peninsula
of Lower California is where desert lands meet immaculate shores, and
where an emerald sea brushes the pale rocks of the cliffs. To enjoy these
paradises, however, it is necessary to drive around, often for long routes
without shelters or vegetation, reason why it’s better to do so with the
right amount of provisions.
Naturally, in town centres like San Josè and San Lucas – together they
form the district of Los Cabos – tourist-tailored stores and services are
always guaranteed. But what we want to tell you about is the most
authentic and well preserved area of the peninsula, rich in marvelous
natural sights and adventurous paths. Take Guerrero Negro, for example,
overlooking the Pacific Ocean in the deep south of the peninsula. Despite
the tropical climate and the frequent rain, this small town offers such an

extraordinary experience that between January and March is nearly impossible to book. The reason is simple: during that period, just by the near
lagoon of Ojo de Liebre, it’s possible to spot the rare grey whales, living in
those waters together with their babies. In the most repaired areas, where
waters lay calm, it’s even possible to gently brush them. Driving up the
desert to Saint Rosalia, while the dusk light radiates warm shades and
throws cactus-shaped shadows over the dunes,you can reach the village of
Saint Ignacio.
Colonized in 1700 by Jesuits, the village treasures the architecture of the
old mission, including a beautiful church built with woods and lava
stones. Here you can rest under the cool shadow of the palm trees, the only
oasis in miles and miles of desert, and stay at House Lereé, the blue one,
known by everybody in the village. There you’ll find Juanita, eager to
tell you ancient stories, about the few villagers and many travellers. A
precious luggage to take with you, when you’ll depart again, at dawn,
toward the sunrise burning the horizon.

l dizionario della moda si è arricchito di un nuovo termine:
new normal, o normcore (da normal, normale, e hardcore, duro,
autentico). A portarlo alla luce è stato un articolo del New York
Times, dove si faceva notare che in giro per la Grande Mela è
ormai è impossibile distinguere “tra i turisti, gli americani medi di
mezz’età e i giovani artisti newyorkesi”. In sostanza, ci sarebbero
sempre più ragazzi vestiti come Jerry Seinfeld diretto alla lavanderia a gettoni e sempre meno battaglie contro l’accoppiata calzino
bianco-sandalo flat anatomico.
Ebbene, sembra proprio che l’intellighenzia millennial si senta
ormai stretta negli attillati panni hipster. Non si tratta solo di
volersi smarcare da barbe lunghe, risvoltini, colletti abbottonati
e rifiuto facilone del mainstream, ma più di tutto indossare capi e
accessori assolutamente banali per passare inosservati ed essere
cool. Insomma, niente è più alla moda che non essere alla moda.
L’estetica di riferimento è quella anti-lusso e anti-fashion degli
anni ’80 e ’90: jeans a vita alta, felpe, t-shirt bianche, zaini, sneakers (Stan Smith, of course), sandali e maxi pullover per esaltare la
disinvoltura di uno sportswear formale con qualche tocco vintage.
È il trionfo di GAP e H&M, di Décathlon e Camaïeu, con i loro

capi profondamente basic, comodi e anti civettuoli. Uno stile

we are all normal
he fashion vocabulary just welcomed a new lemma: new
normal, or normcore (normal hardcore). Shining light on it
was an article on the New York Times, which pointed out
how, around the Big Apple, it got impossible to discern between
“tourists, middle aged Americans and young New Yorkers artists”.
Basically, you are more like to run into boys dressed like Jerry
Seinfeld on his way to a laundromat, than having to bare the sight
of the dreadful white socks with sandals combo.
It really seems that the Millennial intellectuals are feeling quite
tight in the skinny hipster clothes. It’s not just about getting rid of
thick beards, ankle pants, and buttoned collars, all too mainstream
by now, but more than anything it’s about wearing more than
normal clothes and accessories, to be unnoticed and, thus, cool.
Nothing more fashionable than not being fashionable.
The inspiration is the anti-luxury, anti-fashion esthetic of the 80s
and 90s: high waist jeans, white t-shirts, backpacks, sneakers (Stan
Smith, of course), sandals and maxi pullovers to emphasize the easiness of a formal sportswear with a vintage spirit. It’s the triumph of
Gap and H&M, of Decathlon and Camaïeu, with their deeply basic
clothes, comfortable and anti-flirt. An essential style, coming from a
brainy couture; a style taken back to the essentials. How to simplify
clothes to make life easier? Mark Jacobs answered with pile sweatshirts, and Céline put fur on Birkenstocks. Basic is for Tommy Hilfiger,
too: polos are now mini-dresses with a sporty after taste.
Today’s new normal icons are Mark Zuckerberg, with his stock of grey
t-shirts and poolside flip-flops, and Barack Obama, often seen in jeans,
oversized polos and brandless sneakers. And how could we not mention
John F. Kennedy Jr. And Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, normal chic pioneers. Clearly, Carolin dressed a higher standard normcore, like the one
from Calvin Klein and Narciso Rodriguez. But didn’t she wear Gap, too?
She’s pictured in a beautiful shot, taken on the underground, wearing a
black crew neck t-shirt, kaki pants and an elastic band on her hair. And
John used to walk around wearing baseball caps, roomy sweatshirts and
backpacks. Their style was polished, simple, accessible: realistic, also, for
a city lifestyle that includes walking, biking and groceries.

Pluto and Proserpina di Jeff Koons (1955) è
l’opera monumentale alta più di tre metri
che, per la prima volta dopo circa cinquecento anni dalla messa in posa dell’Ercole e
Caco di Baccio Bandinelli, occupa l’Arengario di Palazzo Vecchio. Lo straordinario
evento inaugura il progetto In Florence,
che ha come scopo quello di far dialogare le opere di alcuni dei più celebri artisti
moderni con i lavori del Rinascimento fiorentino. Per questo si è scelto di accostare l’imponente e
provocante scultura dell’artista americano con la classicità
dei capolavori di Donatello e Michelangelo. Nella Sala dei
Gigli è invece collocato il Barberini Faun, opera realizzata
nel 2013 appartenente alla serie denominata dall’artista
Gazing Ball, calchi in gesso di celebri sculture del periodo
greco-romano cui Koons ha aggiunto, in posizione di precario equilibrio, una sfera di colore azzurro brillante e dalla
superficie riflettente.

The extraordinary event inaugurates
project In Florence, which has the goal of
putting in touch the works of the most famous modern artists with the works of the
Florentine Renaissance. For this reason, the imposing and
provocative sculpture of the American artist was put side
by side with the classical masterpieces of Donatello and Michelangelo.
In the Room of the Lilies, instead, the Barberini Faun can
be found, a work realized in 2013 and part of a series named
Gazing Ball, casts of famous Greek and Roman sculpture
to which Koons added, precariously balanced, a light blue,
shining sphere.

BELLISSIMA - L’Italia dell’alta moda 1945-1968
La mostra ripercorre un periodo storico particolarmente interessante dal punto di vista della produzione culturale che
ha come filo conduttore il forte legame
della moda con il cinema la fotografia, il
teatro e l’architettura. In esposizione alcuni dei maggiori “capolavori” dell’alta
moda dal dopoguerra al 1968, modelli che
hanno fatto la storia dello stile italiano.
Gli abiti realizzati da autori come Renato
Balestra, Delia Biagiotti, Fendi, Fernanda Gattinoni, Pino
Lancetti, Emilio Pucci, Mila Schön, Sorelle Fontana e Valentino, rivivono attraverso una scenografia di manichini La
Rosa. Tra gli abiti esposti, quello che le Sorelle Fontana disegnarono nel 1955 per Ava Gardner. L’allestimento prevede una
sezione dedicata agli accessori di Gucci, Ferragamo, Frattegiani, Roberta di Camerino, i cappelli di Clemente Cartoni e
uno spazio in cui è possibile ammirare una selezione di gioielli
firmati Bulgari, che è anche sponsor dell’evento.
The exposition retraces a historical period
of particular interest regarding cultural
production, which has as central theme the
strict relationship between fashion and movies and photography, theatre and architecture. Showcased will be some of the major
high fashion “masterpieces” of the post war
period till 1968, samples which wrote the
history of the Italian style. Dresses designed by authors like Renato Balestra, Delia
Biagiotti, Fendi, Fernanda Gattinoni, Pino Lancetti, Emilio Pucci, Mila Schön, Sorelle Fontana, and Valentino, live

It will be the main location for Lugano in Scene and Lugano
Music (the new denomination for Lugano Festival), which will
be supported by the performances of the Finzi Pasca company and
of the Swiss-Italian Orchestra (OSI), as well by the concert season
of the Swiss Italian Television (RSI).

Il ricco volume di grandi dimensioni innanzitutto è
un bellissimo oggetto da esporre e da sfogliare con la
dovuta calma. Campeggia, sull'arancione tenue della
copertina in tela, un’enorme lettera G di giardino. Il titolo Il giardino del giardiniere è scritto in piccolo, discretamente posizionato sulla destra. Prodotto editoriale
curatissimo, è ricco nell'aspetto e ricco nel contenuto.
L'autore, il garden designer Madison Cox, consigliato
da una selezionata commissione di esperti, prende in
esame 250 esemplari dell'arte del giardinaggio e del
disegno del paesaggio: i più incantevoli giardini del
mondo rigorosamente suddivisi per aree geografiche,
sintetizzati in schede informative che ne evidenziano
le specificità più utili e interessanti da conoscere,
fotografati con sapienza e grande capacità di cogliere
i particolari e le prospettive più caratterizzanti. Un
tomo da 500 pagine tutte da godere. Imperdibile per
gli amanti del giardino e del Bello tout cour.
Lo scorso 12 ottobre l’autore di questo libro, Angus
Deaton, economista di orgini scozzesi, riceve il Premio
Nobel per l’Economia «per le analisi sui consumi, sulla
povertà, sul welfare». La casa editrice Il Mulino pubblica in Italia la sua più recente pubblicazione, La grande
fuga. Salute, ricchezza e origini della disuguaglianza, titolo
che rimanda al film kolossal del ’63 con il celebre attore
Steve McQueen, in cui è narrata l'evasione durante la
Seconda Guerra di alcuni soldati da un campo di prigionia, riferimento che intende fare un parallelismo con la
costante fuga dall'indigenza come fattore costante nella
storia dell'uomo di ogni epoca. L'analisi dell'economista
anglo-americano è molto interessante perché evidenzia
come alcuni fattori comunemente valutati come negativi, come per esempio il fenomeno della globalizzazione,
abbiamo prodotto in alcune aree del mondo dei risultati
positivi in termini di ricchezza e salute. Una lettura che
merita l'impegno che richiede.
Primo romanzo di Serena Dandini, Il futuro di una
volta colpisce subito per la sua scrittura densa e
ritmata, una scrittura che solo una mente spumeggiante e generosa saprebbe – o forse non potrebbe
fare a meno di- partorire. Un romanzo che corre tra
le parole, tantissime, e le frasi, rocambolesche come
una corsa che toglie il fiato, e le riflessioni, ironiche e
pungenti che regalano più di un sorriso, che l'autrice
cuce una dietro l'altra, senza, quasi, lasciar mai attimi
di pausa al lettore. Al centro due donne, settant'anni
la prima, quasi quaranta la seconda. Due generazioni
diametralmente opposte, per carattere e per storia,
messe accanto dalla Natura stessa che le ha volute
una madre e l'altra figlia, l'una dell'altra. Laury ed
Elena sono diversissime e, per questo, distanti. Ognuna con la sua natura, in tutto e per tutto differente
da quella dell’altra, fino all’ultimo. Finché morte non
le separa.
Romanzo a due voci, quella di lui, Modesto, e quella di
lei, Viviana, una coppia di amanti che, capitolo dopo
capitolo raccontano la loro storia segreta. Ognuno
dal proprio punto di vista. Quando li incontriamo,
all’inizio del libro, è appena passato un anno dal
primo appuntamento clandestino e qualcosa inizia a
cedere. «C'è un momento, diciamo intorno al primo anniversario di una relazione clandestina, in cui pieghi la testa
di lato, stringi gli occhi come cercassi qualcosa di minuscolo
che si muove, nell’aria e vedi in filigrana il casino in cui ti
trovi. Questo è amore, ti dici senza mezzi termini, altro che
chiacchiere.» Modesto e Viviana scelgono di seguire un
percorso di terapia di coppia, inusuale come scelta per
una coppia clandestina. De Silva si legge tutto d’un
fiato, si divora, pagina dopo pagina, capitolo dopo
capitolo, alla ricerca di qualche risposta che forse
anche noi lettori cerchiamo con lo stesso ardore dei
protagonisti.

and browse with the necessary calm. On the delicate

refined editorial product, rich in the exterior as well as
in the content. The author, the garden designer Madison
Cox, together with a selection of experts on the subject,
examines 250 samples about the art of gardening and
landscape design: the most enchanting garden in the world,
divided by geographic areas, summarized in factsheets
that highlight the most useful and intriguing characteristics, pictured with wisdom and great talent in picking up
interesting angles. A 500 pages volume ready to enjoy. Not
to be missed for all the garden lovers.
The last 12th of Ofcotber, the author of this book, Angus
Deaton, a Scottish economist, was granted the Nobel Prize
in Economics for “the analysis on consumes, poverty and welfare”. The house Il Mulino publishes in Italy his latest work,
The great escape. Health, Wealth, and the Origins
of Inequality, title that quotes the kolossal movie of 1963,
starring Steve McQueen, that narrates the escape of some
prisoners from a World War II camp; a reference that intents
to draw a parallel with the constant run from misery as a
focal point for humanity in every era. The analysis from the
Anglo-American economist is very interesting, as it pinpoints
how some factors, normally addressed as negative, as for example globalization, produced in certain areas positive results
in terms of prosperity and health. A letter that is worth the
effort it requires.
The first novel from Serena Dandini, Il futuro di una
volta (Once upon a future) strikes for its dense and rhythmic style, a way of writing that only a generous and sparkly
mind could – or maybe couldn’t but – generate. A novel that
runs through words, so many of them, and the phrasing, as
exciting as a breathtaking run, and the considerations, filled
with stinging irony, everything held together by the author
without nearly ever leaving a moment of pause to the
reader. Main characters are two women, in her 70s the first
one, in her late 30s the second. Two opposed generations, by
character and history, out together by Nature who wanted
them mother and daughter. Laury and Elena are completely
different and, for this, distant. Each one with her nature,
totally different from the other, till the end. Till death
doesn’t make them apart.
Two narrators for this novel: him, Modesto, and her, Viviana,
two lovers who, chapter after chapter, tell their secret story.
Each one from his/her point of view. When we meet them, at
the beginning of the book, one year has passed since their first
clandestine date, and something is starting to squeak. «There
is a moment, around the first anniversary of a secret
relationship, when you tilt your head to the side, squint
your eyes like you’re looking for something tiny moving
in the distance, and you start to notice the mess you are
into. This is love, you tell yourself, without sugarcoating
it». Modesto and Viviana choose to attend therapy sessions for
couples, an unusual choice for secret lovers. De Silva can be
read all in one go, can be devoured, page after page, chapter
after chapter, looking for some answer that maybe we readers,
too, are looking for with the same characters passion.

Un’operaia, alla vigilia del parto, si ritrova
disoccupata. Il marito è senza un soldo e gli
amici, per quanto si adoperino per aiutarla
con il corredino, passeggini e vestitini per il
bebè, non possono risolverle tutti i problemi.
Così Luciana Colacci tenta un gesto estremo:
irrompe nella fabbrica e rapisce l’amministratrice
delegata dando il via ad una serie di avventure
tragicomiche che hanno come tema la precarietà
ed il cinismo dell’attuale mondo del lavoro. Il film
è l’adattamento cinematografico del fortunato
spettacolo teatrale che ha visto come unica
protagonista la Cortellesi dal 2005 al 2008. Anche
in quel caso a dirigerla è l’amico Massimiliano
Bruno, che a proposito della trasposizione
cinematografica del monologo racconta: “Ci
siamo impegnati a ricostruire il mondo intorno
a Luciana, a trasformare un dialogo solitario in
un insieme di personaggi. La cosa più complicata
ma divertente è stata rendere uno spettacolo
ambientato in una notte, in un film che racconta
nove mesi. Non mi era mai capitato di riscrivere
qualcosa che avevamo già creato”.

A factory worker, on the verge of childbirth, loses her
job. Her husband is without a penny, and their friends,
as much as they are trying to help lending baby clothes
and strollers, can’t solve all their problems. Thus,
Luciana Colacci resorts on extreme measures: she
breaks into her former factory and kidnaps the CEO,
starting a series of tragi comical events, running on
the theme of precariousness and cynicism in today’s
work landscape. The movie is taken from the successful
theatrical monologue starring the lone Paola Cortellesi,
running from 2005 to 2008. Here, too, directing her is
her friend Massimiliano Bruno, who, asked about this
adaptation, tells: “We worked hard to build the world
around Luciana, transforming what was a monologue
into a set of characters. The hardest and funniest task
was making a nine months long story out of a piece set
in just a night time. It never happened to me to rewrite
something which we had already perfected”.
Daniel Craig indossa i panni dell'agente segreto più
famoso del mondo per la quarta volta, nuovamente
diretto da Mendes, regista di Skyfall. Durante

Dave Gahan, componente della storica band dei
Depeche Mode, ha i suoi progetti paralleli proprio
come il collega Martin Gore. L’eclettico artista è infatti
frontman dei Soulsavers e torna in scena da solista
per la terza volta con Angels & Gosts, confermando le
aspettative dei fan ed il sound caratteristico di Gahan
e dei Soulsavers che era già emerso nella loro prima
collaborazione The Light the Dead See (2012). Il nuovo
lavoro mixa influenze di matrice gospel e blues ed è
stato inciso in diversi studi di registrazione leggendari
sparsi per il mondo, tra cui il Sunset Sound di Los
Angeles e l’Electric Lady di New York. L’uscita è stata
anticipata dal singolo All of This and Nothing e da un tour
che prevede solo 6 tappe, tra cui Milano, in location di
dimensioni ridotte per ricreare un ambiente più intimo
e raccolto in cui presentare le nuove canzoni.
Grande ritorno per uno dei cantautori più apprezzati nel mondo del punk-rock inglese, tanto da essere
considerato uno dei principali protagonisti di quel
genere musicale. Wreckless, che vanta una carriera
quasi quarantennale, è un artista capace di destreggiarsi con naturalezza tra chitarra e basso e torna
sulla scena dopo 10 anni di assenza, grazie all’intuito
di un’etichetta come la Fire Records. Il nuovo lavoro
si chiama AmERICA e può definirsi un album homemade: è infatti il risultato di un periodo di ispirazione particolare per il musicista, che ha utilizzato il
proprio appartamento di New York per le session dei
nuovi pezzi. L’amplificazione del basso è stata piazzata nella stanza degli ospiti, mentre i microfoni sono
stati disposti lungo le scale che collegano i vari piani
dell’abitazione.
Dave Gahan, member of the legendary Depeche Mode, has its
own projects, just like his colleague Martin Gore. The eclectic
artist is the front man of the band Soulsavers, and is also coming
back as a solo artist for the third time, with the album Angel
& Ghosts, meeting his fan expectations and keeping that
characteristic sound of Gahan and of Soulsavers, which already
emerged in their first collaboration The Light the Dead See
(2012). The new work mixes gospel and blues influences, and
was recorded in different, legendary studios all around the
world, including the Sunset Sound in Los Angeles and the Electric Lady in New York. The release followed the single All of
This and Nothing, together with a tour that included only six
gigs, including Milan, in venues small enough to create a more
intimate ambient where to present the new songs.
A great comeback for one of the most appreciated songwriter in the British punk-rock scene, so much to be
considered one of the greatest protagonists of the genre.
Wreckless, boasting a near forty years long career, is an
artist capable of switching with ease between guitar
and bass, and he’s coming back on the scene after a 10
years hiatus also thanks to the intuition of Fire Records
label. The new album is titled AMERICA, and can
be defined as a homemade album: it’s indeed the result
of unique inspirations for the musician, who made us
of his New York apartment to record the new songs.
The bass amp was placed in the guest room, while the
microphones where put all over the stairs between the
floors of the house.

UNA GUIDA RAPIDA PER AIUTARE
IL PASSEGGERO
Per proteggervi contro la nuova minaccia derivante dagli esplosivi liquidi, l’Unione
Europea ha adottato nuove regole di sicurezza che limitano le quantità di liquidi
che possono essere introdotti nelle aree sterili. Tali regole si applicano nei confronti
tutti i passeggeri in partenza dagli aeroporti dell’Unione Europea verso qualsiasi
destinazione.
Ciò significa che ai controlli di sicurezza, il passeggero e il relativo bagaglio a mano
devono essere controllati per verificare la presenza di liquidi. Comunque, le nuove
regole non limitano la quantità di liquidi che possono essere acquistati presso gli
esercizi commerciali situati oltre il punto di controllo del titolo di viaggio od a bordo
di un aeromobile di compagnia appartenente all’Unione Europea.
Le nuove regole si applicano a partire da lunedì 6 novembre 2006, in tutti gli aeroporti dell’Unione Europea, in Norvegia, Islanda e Svizzera a meno di eventuali
modifiche.
A SHORT GUIDE TO HELP YOU
To protect you against the new threat of liquid explosives, the European Union
(EU) introduced new security rules to limit the amount of liquids that you can take
through security checkpoints. They apply to all passengers departing from EU airports to all destinations.
This means that, at security checkpoints, you and your hand luggage must be
inspected for liquids screening in addition to other prohibited articles. However,
the new rules do not limit the liquids that you can buy at shops located beyond
the checkpoints.
The new rules are in force as to Monday 6th November 2006 at all airports in the
EU and in Norway, Iceland, Switzerland until further notice.

Il vostro “orologio biologico” può a volte non gradire i cambi di fuso legati
al viaggio aereo: senso di affaticamento, difficoltà a prendere sonno e riduzione dell’appetito sono tra i sintomi più comuni. Per minimizzare l’impatto
di tale fenomeno, si consiglia di dormire bene la notte prima del volo e di
mantenere le proprie “lancette biologiche” sull’orario di casa se la permanenza nel luogo di destinazione non dovesse superare i due giorni. In caso
di una permanenza più prolungata, è opportuno adeguarsi il prima possibile
all’orario locale e attenersi a regole di vita salutari, tenendo presente che il
recupero degli effetti “jet lag” è generalmente più rapido se si viaggia con
direzione ovest e più lento con direzione est.
Sometimes you “biological clock” may not welcome the time changes involved in air travel and it finds ways of letting you know about this. Some
of the most common symptoms are a sense of weariness, difficulty in falling
asleep at night and appetite loss. To minimize jet lag effects, make sure
you get a good night sleep before leaving and, if you plan to stay abroad
less than two days, keep you biological clock set on your home time (i.e.
keep your regular eating and sleeping habits). In the event of a longer trip,
it is advisable to get used to local time as soon as possible and to conduct
a regular and healthy life. Remember that getting over jet lag is generally
quicker when travelling westwards than eastwards.

To help you feel better when you fly with us, just follow these
tips and suggestions designed to enhance your well being on
board
Stare a lungo seduti in una stessa posizione può farvi sentire a
disagio sull’aereo. Sgranchitevi gambe e braccia ogni due ore
circa. Alzatevi di tanto in tanto e camminate su e giù per il corridoio oppure fate i semplici esercizi* di stretching illustrati per
prevenire problemi circolatori.
Prolonged sitting in a fixed position can make you feel uncomfortable in the plane. Every few hours, stretch your arms and legs
or carry out some easy exercises* suggested below.
Consumate pasti leggeri, mangiate con moderazione e limitare
bevande gassate, tè e caffè.
Eat a light meal and moderate you intake of fizzy drinks, tea and
coffee.
Bevete molta acqua naturale, meglio se in piccole quantità e
spesso.
Drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated.
Moderate il consumo di bevande alcoliche, poiché queste sono
assorbite più facilmente dal corpo ad alta quota a causa della
bassa pressione dell’aria all’interno della cabina.
Moderate your intake of alcohol.
In caso di permanenza prolungata a bordo è consigliato sostituire le lenti a contatto con degli occhiali per evitare irritazioni
oculari. Togliete sempre le lenti a contatto prima di dormire.
In case of a long flight it is recommended to wear eyeglasses
rather than contact lenses. Remove contact lenses before sleeping.

Iniziate gli esercizi stando seduti in modo comodo ed eretto.
Start the exercise by sitting in comfortably in your seat in an upright position.

Poggiate entrambi i piedi sul pavimento. Flettete i piedi puntando i talloni in su e poi in giù. Ripetete per cinque volte.
Rest both feet on the floor. Flex both feet with toes pointing
upward, then point your toes downward Perform this exercise
five times.

Sollevate dolcemente il ginocchio verso il busto per alcuni secondi, poi lasciatelo andare, poggiando nuovamente il piede
sul pavimento. Fate lo stesso con l’altra gamba. Ripetete cinque
volte per gamba.
Raise you knee gently towards the chest for a few seconds and
then release, placing your feet back on the floor. Continue with
the other leg. Repeat five times for each leg.

Mettete le mani sotto una coscia e sollevatele dolcemente verso il busto. Ruotate la caviglia in modo circolare per 5 secondi.
Ripetete con l’altra gamba. Ripetete questo esercizio cinque
volte per gamba.
Place your hands under one thigh, and gently lift toward your
chest. Rotate your ankle in a circular motion for 5 seconds. Repeat with the other leg. Perform this exercise five times with
both legs.
