Title /titolo :Taking the Stage /prendere la scena
This workshop will look at practical ways of keeping the dynamism and immediacy of
storytelling on a more theatrical stage. We will look at use of space and telling with more than
one storyteller at the same time as well as strategies for embodiment and play with the stories
themselves. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a five minute extract of a story that you
have not worked on properly yet.
Il laboratorio esplorerà le modalità pratiche per mantenereil dinamismo e l’immediatezza dello
storytelling sui palcoscenici di tipo teatrale. Si prenderà in considerazione l’utilizzo dello spazio
e il racconto a più voci, così come le strategie per impersonare e giocare con le storie stesse.
Si richiede cortesemente di indossare abiti comodi e di presentarsi con un estratto di cinque
minuti tratto da una storia ancora in fase di lavorazione.

Title/ titolo: The Storyteller and the Art of Improvisation / Lo storyteller e l’arte
dell’improvvisazione
The storyteller has to develop several skills to become a good improviser as the story is often
only a frame. The relationship with text and body has to stay open. One might have to reinvent
words and gestures during a performance. Advanced Storytellers are invited to improve their
skills in this course.
Lo storyteller deve sviluppare diverse capacità per diventare un bravo improvvisatore, dal
momento che spesso la storia è soltanto una cornice. La relazione con il testo e il corpo deve
restare aperta. Si deve essere in grado di reinventare le parole e i gesti durante la performance.
Storytellers di livello avanzato sono invitati a partecipare a questo corso per milgiorare i propri
strumenti.

all’utilizzo della voce nei dialetti.
Voice training workshop according to the method taught by Prof. Bevilacqua at National
Academy of Dramatic Art Silvio D’Amico in Rome. The class will focus on the use of voice in
the spoken dialects.

The stories that we tell each other are usually a mixture of memory and dream, of personal
experience mingled with wish and desire. In this workshop we will move between the world of
personal memory and the dream world of story. We will be looking at personal stories, revealing
the layers of meaning within them, and exploring how the sharing of these stories with others can
transform our view of ourselves. We will also be learning how we can create a world out of
words and gestures in which our listeners can believe......
This Beginners Workshop is for any adults interested in exploring their personal relationship
with story in a shared and safe workshop environment. No previous experience of storytelling or
performing is necessary, just a belief in the power of stories to “give delight, and hurt not.......”

Le storie che ci raccontiamo sono di solito un misto di memoria e sogno, di esperienze personali
mescolate a desideri e aspirazioni. In questo laboratorio ci muoveremo fra il mondo della
memoria personal e il mondo di sogno delle storie. Analizzeremo storie personali, analizzando i
livelli di significato contenuti in esse, esplorando come la condivisione di queste storie può
modificare la nostra visione di noi stessi. Si imparerà anche a creare un mondo di parole e gesti,
cui l’ascoltatore possa credere... Questo laboratorio per principianti è rivolto a tutti gli adulti
interessati ad esplorare la propria relazione con il concetto di “storia” in un’atmosfera di sana
condivisione. Non è richiesta alcuna precedente esperienza di storytelling nè di perfomance, ma
solo fiducia nel potere delle storie di “dare piacere, senza far male...”

Tribal tales: sharing from a storyteller / Storie tribali:l’eperienza di una storyteller
Kamini will share her experiences in collecting the tribal folktales from the aboriginal and
indigenous people in the jungles of Malaysia and also similar experiences in collecting tribal
stories from the Khasi tribe in Shillong, East India; and also from village women in Thanjavur in
South India. She will speak about the process of gaining trust from the tribal community, the
whole experience of living with a tribe and adapting to their ways, and the shamans and how
they tell their stories. And as a storyteller, what is our motive in collecting these tales? What is
the end result or 'product 'of this research? Must it always result in a book? Or can we choose to
share these tribal stories orally instead? The challenges of keeping these old and ancient tribal
tales alive in contemporary society. In this session you will hear some of the rare and unheard
tribal stories that were given to Kamini.
Kamini condividerà la sua esperienza nel raccogliere le storie tribali dalle persone aborigene e
indigene delle jungla della Malesia e altresì la sua esperienza nel raccogliere storie tribali dalla
tribù Kashi dello Shillong nell’est dell’India, come pure dalle donne dei paesi del Thanjavur nel
sud dell’ India.
Kamini parlerà del processo per ottenere la fiducia della comunità tribale e dell’esperienza di
vivere con una tribù, adattandosi alle sue usanze, agli sciamani e al loro modo di raccontare
storie. E come storytellers qual’è la nostra motivaxzione nel raccogliere queste storie? Qual’è il
fine, il risultato o il “prodotto” di questa ricerca?
Deve risultare sempre in un libro? Oppure possiamo scelgiere di continuare a condividere queste
storie in modo orale? Qual’è la sfida di mantenere vive queste antiche storie tribali nella società
contemporanea? All’interno di questa sessione avrete la possibilità di sentire alcune delle storie
rare e fino ad ora mai sentite che sono state afidate a Kamini.

Sha’abi : upper Egypt folk dance
Sha'abi : Folk Dance of Upper Egypt
Sha'abi generally indicates the rural music and dance of Egypt and among others it includes the
folk traditions of the Said, a region of Upper Egypt. Sha’abi music and dance are present in celebrations and traditional festivals. It’s a grounded and energetic dance which reflects the feeling
and the gestures of the people, expressing one of Egypt's raw yet finest art forms.
Sha'abi : danza popolare dell’Alto Egitto
Lo stile Sha’abi (che significa del popolo) è legato alle tradizioni popolari dell’Egitto e
comprende le canzoni e le danze dei fellahin, del Said e quelle delle ghawazee. La musica e la
danza Sha’abi sono quelle che accompagnano il popolo nelle varie celebrazioni e feste di piazza.
E’ una danza semplice ed energica e carica di tutti i sentimenti e i gesti che caratterizzano il
popolo che la balla.
