Arte deriva dal latino ars, termine originariamente indicante un’attività manuale, quindi con un significato più vicino all’odierna parola artigianato che al termine arte.
Musica deriva dal termine musiké, che in greco classico era un aggettivo dal significato di relativo alle
Muse. Dunque la musica è, in senso etimologico, l’arte delle Muse.
Cultura è parola derivante dal latino colere, che significa ‘coltivare’. Un termine decisamente concreto,
dunque, ha dato origine a un termine astratto, come spesso capita negli etimi.
Art comes from Latin ars, which originally meant any manual activity or craftsmanship.
Music comes from ancient Greek musiké, meaning ‘related to the Muses’. Therefore, from an etymological viewpoint, music is the Muses’ art.
Culture comes from Latin colere, meaning ‘to cultivate’. This is the typical example of an abstract meaning coming from a concrete one.

Anche il linguaggio musicale possiede propri alfabeto, punteggiatura e grammatica. Le sette note, do, re, mi, fa, sol, la,
si, ordinate secondo la rigida sintassi del pentagramma,
scandite da pause e indicazioni espressive, rappresentano le
sillabe della musica.
La firma autografa di Giuseppe Verdi e un dettaglio dello
spartito della marcia trionfale della Aida: uno dei capolavori del maestro che ha lasciato pagine memorabili quali
Nabucco e il Requiem, espressamente composto quest’ultimo per le esequie di Alessandro Manzoni.
The musical language has its own alphabet, punctuation
and grammar. The seven notes, arranged through the pentagram and its strict syntax, stressed by pauses and expressive instructions, represent the syllables of music.
This tie shows Giuseppe Verdi’s signature together with a
detail of the score of the triumphal march from the Aida.
One of the fathers of the opera, Giuseppe Verdi has composed many masterpieces, such as Nabucco, Rigoletto, Il trovatore, La traviata.

O’ sole mio è il più famoso inno del mondo al sole mediterraneo. Ed è anche la canzone che meglio esprime l’italica gioia
di vivere. Composta nel 1898 da Capurro, Mazzucchi e Di
Capua, la canzone, ormai pluricentenaria, ha continuato a
rinascere e rilucere nelle voci di Caruso, Beniamino Gigli,
Elvis Presley, Pavarotti.
O’ sole mio is probably the most famous anthem in the
Mediterranean culture. It is also the song which best expresses the Italian lifestyle. Written in 1898, it has been revived
thanks to the unique voices of Caruso, Beniamino Gigli, Elvis
Presley and Pavarotti.

the same year. Since then Volare has become, together with

il genio per eccellenza del XX secolo. Il suo aspetto, che ispirava un’istintiva simpatia, lo rese un’icona mediatica e filatelica. Il francobollo dedicatogli nel 1966 dagli Stati Uniti è solo
uno delle decine che lo ritraggono.

Einstein is probably the 20th century genius by definition. His
face, which inspired an immediate empathy, made his image an
