axos, prima colonia greca della Sicilia: qui è la
porta splendente della storia, tra lave aguzze e
sabbie finissime, sulle rive di un mare
incontaminato, alle pendici delle colline del Tauro e sotto
la possente mole dell’Etna, con un clima spiccatamente
mediterraneo con estati calde, inverni miti e piogge
leggere in inverno.
Con queste parole doveva iniziare il reportage della 3ª
edizione dello show Internazionale di classe C/ECAHO e
dell’Egyptian Event “Figli del vento - Naxos”, che si è
svolto il 16-17 aprile, proprio qui ai Giardini di Naxos.
Purtroppo così non è stato. La location (in riva al mare, su
un tappeto erboso) scelta dall’organizzatore Pietro
Giannetto con il supporto del Sindaco di Naxos, Nello Lo
Turco, dopo lunghe peripezie e all’ultimo, non è stata
avallata dalla Capitaneria di Porto.

axos, the first Greek colony in Sicily: this is the
shining door into history, among sharp lava
formations and fine sand, on the shore of an unspoilt
sea, on the Tauro hills and at the foot of the imposing Mount
Etna. The climate is distinctly Mediterranean, with hot
summers, mild winters and little rain in winter.
These are the words that should have opened the report on the
3rd edition of the international show C/ECAHO and of the
Egyptian Event “Figli del vento - Naxos”, which was held on
April 16-17 here in Giardini di Naxos.
Sadly that was not the case. After long negotiations, the Harbor
Master’s Office did not give the authorization to use the
location chosen by the organizer Pietro Giannetto (along the
seafront, on a grassy terrain) with the support of the Mayor of
Naxos.

Infine, caso eccezionale, dal venerdì, una pioggia intensa e
continua durata fino al giorno successivo, ha ridotto il ring
della manifestazione ad un vero e proprio pantano . . . ma,
“the show must go on”. I giudici e lo staff della
manifestazione, indossando stivali ed impermeabili, hanno
dato inizio a questa manifestazione che, con il patrocinio,
anche quest’anno, del Senato della Repubblica Italiana e
dell’ANICA, ha apportato prestigio e lustro al territorio.
Come oramai è consueto trovare in tutti gli show in Italia,
la qualità dei Purosangue Arabi presenti ai Giardini di
Naxos, è stata molto alta come pure la competizione fra gli
allevatori presenti che, dai tavoli VIP, seguivano con
l’adrenalina a mille, i propri soggetti che, guidati dai
sempre più professionali handlers, con eleganza e trotto
maestoso, si confrontavano nel campo gara.
Due gli shows che si sono svolti tra sabato e domenica con

In the end, an intense rain which unusually fell on Friday and
Saturday turned the ring into a swamp… but the show must go
on, as they say. The judges and the staff, wearing rubber boots
and waterproof coats, opened the show, once again supported by
the Italian Senate and ANICA, and brought prestige and luster
to this area.
As it has become customary for Italian shows, the quality of the
Purebred Arabians competing in Giardini di Naxos was very
high, and there was also a high level of competitiveness among
the breeders who sat at the VIP tables and, with high
adrenaline levels, watched their horses compete in the ring with
elegance and at a majestic trot, led by more and more skilled
handlers.
Two shows were held between Saturday and Sunday, with two
separate teams of judges. Scoring the International C show were
Mrs. Annette Dixon (Great Britain), Mrs. Titty Gagliani and

them with typical Bed & Breakfast accommodations in and
around Giardini di Naxos, managed by families who over the
years have been able to turn this small seaside town into Sicily’s
capital of hospitality.

politically involved in his Town, would like to thank the
