Disponibile in tre versioni, commutatore, termostato base, termostato evoluto. Applied externally houses the electrical box. The unit also has a grille made of thermoplastic material and formed by a frame which houses the filter and air flow directing fins plus an intake grille: the air flow directing fins are installed on each side of the grille and can be positioned by remote control. The intake grille is fixed in a practical way that allows it to be easily inspected for servicing and filter cleaning operations. 28 GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS AVAILABLE ACCESSORIES The following accessories are available for this category: - Control and Monitoring Panels A set of panels is available for remote wall installation formed by three different types of control: commutator, basic thermostat and evolved thermostat. - 3-way valve (obligatory for operation in the cooling mode) The three-way valve is not only required to control the ambient temperature, but also to block the flow of chilled water to the coil if the level of condensed water in the tray should rise in an abnormal way. It is obligatory to install this valve if the unit is used for operation in the Cooling mode during summer as this stops it from cooling too much during the periods when the fan remains at a standstill, thus preventing the unpleasant formation of condensation on the casing of the machine. - Enabling thermostat (TC-F) This accessory can be used with the “commutator” control panel to inhibit fan operation in the heating mode if the temperature of the coil fails to reach an acceptable operating value. The cardboard template can be supplied with help in this operation. · Choose the most suitable stay rods, depending on the type of ceiling (Fig.1). · Hang up the bearing brackets supplied with the appliance. Take care to keep them a certain distance (135 mm) from the false ceiling. Do not tighten the nut or check nut. This will only be done after the unit is levelled, at the end of the installation phase. • First, position the connecting pipes as per section “Connecting the water” and to make the installation more quickly and easily remove “T”. · Lift the unit (without the frame) with care by holding it at the four corners. FALSE CEILING Fig. 2 · Tilt the unit and fit it into the false ceiling (1). Match the side slots (2) to the four bearing brackets (3) as shown in Fig.2. · Fit the brackets into the slots and tighten the supplied safety screws. If the height of the false ceiling is 300 mm (the minimum allowed), it may be necessary to temporarily remove a few of the “T” sections that support it. · Level the appliance with a level and allow 30 mm between the sheet metal casing and the lower surface of the false ceiling (Fig.3). Fig. 3 · Connect the condensation drain pipes and make the wet connections, then check to make sure that the appliance is still level. 35 INSTALLATION PIPES AND DRAINING OFF CONDENSATION Fig. 1 · Insert the supplied hose nipple as shown in Fig.1. · It is preferable to use a rigid PVC pipe with a 25 mm internal ø to drain off the condensation. · To ensure that the condensation flows away regularly, the drain pipe must slant 1% downwards without throttles or sections slanting upwards. Also mount a trap, accessible for inspection (1 Fig.1) and at least 50 mm in depth to prevent unpleasant odours from forming in the room. · The standard pump is not suitable for draining off condensation at a higher level than the appliance. Moreover, the drain pipes must slant at least 1% to allow the pump to operate correctly · To drain off water whose level is higher than the appliance, install an auixiliary condensation drain pump with relative condensation tray and level gauge. Models with safety floats are recommended since they shut off the electrothermal valve in the event of a pump fault. · The pipes must be covered with 5-10 mm thick condensation-proof material, such as polyurethane, neoprene or foam material. · If several appliances are installed in a room, the condensation pipe must be made as shown in Fig.2. The main manifold must be sized to drain off all the appliances at the same time. Fig. 2 CONNECTIONS The selection and sizing of the hydraulic lines is delegated responsibility for the designer who must operate under the rules of good practice and legislation. - Position the hydraulic lines - Tighten the connections using the “key against key” (Fig 3) - Check for leakage - Coat the connections with insulating material The hydraulic lines and joints must be thermally insulated. Avoid partial insulation of pipes. Do not over tighten to avoid damaging the insulation. 36 Fig. 3 INSTALLATION VALVE INSTALLATION WARNING: The valve is required not just to monitor the ambient temperature but also to shut off the chilled water that flows to the bank if the level of condensation in the tray becomes too high. Outdoor air change: · Remove the outer condensation-proof insulation delimited by the die-cut and take out the micro-jointed sheet metal panels using a punch. Take care to prevent the heat exchanger bank at the rear from being damaged. Trim the inner condensation-proof insulation along the perimeter of the opening. · Use locally purchased material able to withstand a continuous temperature of 80 °C. The ducts can be the flexible type in polyester (with a spiral steel core) or in corrugated aluminium covered on the outside with condensation-proof material (12 - 25 mm thick fiber-glass). · After installation, the non-insulated surfaces of the pipes must be covered with condensation-proof material (e.g. 6 mm thick neoprene foam). Failure to comply with these instructions could lead to dripping through condensation. The Manufacturer is not liable for damage of this type. · An appropriately sized fan must be installed to overcome the drop in pressure caused by the air change intake port, duct, filter, etc. · For winter operation with outdoor air changes, it is advisable to install an antifreeze thermostat with a 2 °C setting and bulb on the water outlet pipe, that activates and deactivates the supplementary fan. · The outdoor air flow rate must be less than 10% of the total air flow rate to prevent operating faults or noisy operation. · Install an intake grille with filter holder accessible for inspection outdoors to prevent dust and leaves from being sucked in and irreparably clogging the thermal exchange bank of the interior unit. Filter installation also does away with the need to install a channel air lock for idle periods. Air delivery into an adjacent room: If air is to be blown into an adjacent room, one or more of the fins corresponding to the duct must be shut off. Apply an air intake port to the partition wall between the conditioned room in which the unit is installed and the addcent room, as shown in the figure. 46 OPTIONS INSTALLATION INSTALLATION NOTES If the “Commutator” control is installed and for applications used in the heating mode, fan operation may be made to depend on a minimum water temperature being reached (42°C), this to prevent unpleasantly cold air from being blown into the room. The Enabling Thermostat accessory (TC-F), which should be installed on the water inlet pipe, allows the coil inlet temperature to be monitored and can be installed regardless of whether the three-way valve is installed. The electrical connections must be made in compliance with the previous wiring diagrams. If the “Basic Thermostat” or the “Evolved Thermostat” control are installed, the coil probe (SB) supplied with the controls must be positioned correctly as this allows fan operation to be made to depend on a minimum water temperature being reached (35°C), this to prevent unpleasantly cold air from being blown into the room. The probe is positioned Battery for unity in version 4 Pipes, you must install (as indicated in the “NOTES FOR THE ACTIVATION OF THE VALVE”), the probe battery (SB) in the pipe of the auxiliary battery. For further details, consult the “Notes about Pump activation” and “Notes about valve activation” further on. PRELIMINARY INSPECTIONS PRIOR TO STARTING · The unit must not be started until the pipes have been cleaned and bled until all the air has been eliminated from the system. · Make sure that the condensation drain pipes slope correctly. · Make sure that the filter is clean and well seated in its housing. · Check the voltage and current values and compare them with the values on the data plate of the appliance. Check the electrical connections. · Make sure that the delivery fins are not shut. 47 ROUTINE MAINTENANCE HOW TO OPERATE THE CASSETTE CONVECTOR FAN The convector fan is operated by means of a control panel fixed to the wall. Three versions are available, commutator, basic thermostat, advanced thermostat. 1: How to turn the appliance on/off: · Switch the position of the top selector. A led will come on to indicate that the convector fan is operating (with the exception of versions CMR-F). COMMUTATOR 2: Temperature control: · Use the knob to select the correct temperature (with the exception of versions CMR-F). The temperature corresponding to the central position of the knob (pos. 0) is: - Winter rate: 20°C - Summer rate: 25°C 3: Ventilation control: · Turn the selector to one of the three available speeds in order to obtain the desired performances. BASIC THERMOSTAT 4: Seasonal mode: · Turn the selector as illustrated below: : To operate in the heating mode. : To operate in the cooling mode - AUTO: in this mode, the convector fan is able to “understand” the operating mode required (with the exception of versions CMR-F). 5: Economy key (only versions TER-F): This function allows the winter and summer set-points to be changed. · Press the economy button. A led will indicate that the function has been activated, thus: · The fan will operate at minimum speed · The temperature corresponding to the central position of the knob (pos.0) is: - Winter rate: 17°C - Summer rate: 28°C NOTE: Set the thermostat controlled controls (basic and advanced thermostat) on the valve. See instructions supplied with the controls! 48 ADVANCED THERMOSTAT ROUTINE MAINTENANCE GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CLEANING WARNING: remove the power plug from the electricity main before servicing or cleaning the convector fan. Never pour water on to the convector fan. It could damage the mechanical or electrical parts. When the convector fan is cleaned, it is absolutely forbidden to use: · Gas, petrol (gasoline), thinner or degreasing substances: these can damage the paint. · Water hotter than 40°C: could discolour or warp the parts. HOW TO CLEAN THE EXTERIOR PARTS OF THE APPLIANCE Bear in mind the following recommendations when cleaning the exterior parts of the appliance: · Remove any dust with a soft cloth. · Stains can be removed with a neutral detergent diluted in water. Squeeze out the cloth before use. · Dry the appliance with care. HOW TO CLEAN THE AIR FILTER · The air filter is made of acrylic fiber and can be washed in water. To remove the filter, just open the intake grille by turning two screws through 90 °. · Periodically check to make sure that the filter is clean and at the beginning of the season if the appliance has remained idle for a long period of time. · Before starting the unit : · clean or replace the air filter. · clean out and remove any debris from the external auxiliary tray and internal condensation tray. HOW TO DRAIN OUT THE CONDENSATION Proceed in the following way: · During the summer season, make sure that the condensation drain pipe is free from dust or other foreign bodies that could clog it and cause condensation to spill out. · Make sure that the pipe slopes sufficiently to allow the water to flow out. 49 ROUTINE MAINTENANCE EXTRAORDINARY MAINTENANCE Extraordinary maintenance: · The electric panel can be easily accessed by removing the cover. The condensation tray must be removed in order to inspect or replace the internal components, such as: fan, heat exchange bank, condensation drain pump and safety micro-float. How to remove the condensation tray: · Protect the floor underneath the unit from spilt condensation by means of a sheet of plastic when the condensation tray is being removed. · Remove the delivery and intake pipes together and drain the condensation from the tray into a bucket with a capacity of at least 10 liters, through the relative pipe with rubber plug. · Unscrew the fixing screws from the sides of the tray the then remove the condensation tray with care. TROUBLESHOOTING FAULT PROBABLE CAUSE REMEDY Insufficient air outlet -Wrong speed selected on the control panel. -Filter clogged. -Air flow obstructed (on the inlet and/or outlet). -Select the speed on the control panel.
