Degree in Psychology, University of Padua, 1980 (110/110 with honours)
Ph.D. in Social and Developmental Psychology Degree, Rome. Dissertation title: "Observational
methods in developmental psychology”.
Research Interests
- Keywords: autism, early marker of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), typical and atypical
development, parent-infant relationship.
- Main research interests: early indicators and functional diagnosis in children with Autism
Spectrum Disorders; longitudinal studies of child development, parent-infant interaction in
children with typical and atypical development.
- Clinical research: early communicative system and movement development as early marker
of ASD; observational methods for analyzing home videos of children with ASD Diagnosis;
parent- infant training with children with ASD and Intellectual Disabilities.
- Developmental research: since 1990, PV has worked, as Associate Investigator, with the
Child and Family Research (NICH HD, NIH, USA) in the longitudinal and cross-cultural project
on child development. She studies symbolic and explorative play; functional analysis of parent
language, parental belief, attitudes and style.
