LA CITTÀ DEI DUE MARI
 Taranto si affaccia sul mar Jonio ed è situata a 15 metri sul
livello del mare. Il suo territorio è bagnato prevalentemente
dal mare, essendo caratterizzato dalla presenza di tre penisole naturali e di un’isola artificiale, formatasi in seguito al
taglio della penisola originale eseguito durante la costruzione del fossato del “Castello Aragonese”. Per questo la città
è conosciuta come “la città dei due mari”, essendo bagnata
dal mar Grande lungo la costa esterna racchiusa nella baia
delimitata a Nord Ovest dalla Punta Rondinella e a Sud dal
Capo San Vito, nonché dal mar Piccolo, che costituisce un
vasto bacino interno.
THE CITY OF TWO SEAS
 Taranto overlooking the Ionian Sea and is located 15 meters
above sea level. Its territory mainly stands on the sea, being
characterized by the presence of three natural peninsulas
and an artificial island, formed following the cutting of the
peninsula runs during the original construction of the moat
of the “Castello Aragonese”. This is the reason why the city
is known as “the city of the two seas”, standing on the Great
Sea along the outer coast enclosed in the bay bounded on
the North West from Punta Rondinella and south from Capo
San Vito, and also standing on the Mar Piccolo, which is a
large inner basin.
IL PORTO TURISTICO - Ubicazione
 Il Marina Molo Sant’Eligio, approdo turistico di Taranto, è nel
centro storico della città prospiciente il Mar Grande, sulle
aree precedentemente utilizzate per l’attracco dei mezzi
navali a servizio del porto mercantile. L’ubicazione del porto
nel centro storico è connessa alla rilevanza archeologica,
architettonica e storico-culturale del sito, che consente l’osservazione di numerosi elementi di pregio (resti di epoca
magno-greca, antiche chiese, palazzi nobiliari e tipologie
edilizie caratteristiche dell’area) che costituiscono fonti di
forte attrazione turistica, tra cui il Museo archeologico nazionale di Taranto (MArTA) che raccoglie importantissime
testimonianze dell’epoca della Magna Grecia, tra cui i famosi
“Ori di Taranto”.
THE MARINA - Location
 The Molo Sant’Eligio Marina, tourist port of Taranto, is in
the heart of the city overlooking the Great Sea on areas
previously used for the mooring of vessels serving the
commercial port.
The location of the port is in the old town and is connected
to the archaeological, architectural and cultural history of
the site, which allows the observation of many valuable
elements (remains of old Magna Graecia, ancient churches,
palaces and building types of features’ area), which are
sources of great tourist attraction, including the National
Archaeological Museum of Taranto (MARTA), which
collects important testimonies of the Magna Grecia,
including the famous “Ori di Taranto.”
IL PORTO TURISTICO - Caratteristiche
 La struttura, che prevede circa 250 posti barca, con pontili
galleggianti e fissi, banchine e scalo d’alaggio, piazzali di
rimessaggio, parcheggi, alcune aree verdi attrezzate, servizi
di reception e ristoro, è in grado di erogare tutti i servizi
connessi con il turismo nautico (attracco attrezzato, servizi
di conforto, informazioni turistiche), nonché servizi e attività
ricreative, sportive, culturali e artistiche, utilizzando l’ampia
disponibilità di aree attrezzate.
THE MARINA - Features
 The property, which includes approximately 250 berths,
with fixed and floating piers, quays and slipway, laying up
yards, parking lots, some green areas, reception services
and food and is able to provide all of the services associated
with nautical tourism (docking facilities, services, comfort,
tourist information), as well as services and recreational activities, sports, cultural and artistic activities, using the wide
availability of equipped areas.
