ATTIVITA’ DI RICERCA DEL PROF. ROBERTO PIZZOFERRATO L’attività di ricerca riguarda diversi aspetti delle proprietà ottiche ed elettroottiche di materiali innovativi, sia quale mezzo di indagine delle proprietà elettroniche e strutturali (spettroscopia ottica) che per il loro interesse applicativo in connessione alla generazione e controllo della radiazione per applicazioni alle ICT (sviluppo di materiali e processi ottici innovativi). Più specificamente lo studio ha riguardato: 1) engineering chimico (in collaborazione con gruppi di ricerca in chimica organica) e caratterizzazione di molecole e polimeri coniugati contenenti erbio ed emissione ottica a lunghezza d’onda di 1.5 mm per telecomunicazioni in fibra ottica. In particolare sono stati studiati e ottimizzati i meccanismi di trasferimento energetico dalla molecola “antenna” (con assorbimento nel visibile) allo ione erbio che emette nell’infrarosso. 2) caratterizzazione ottica ed elettroottica di molecole e polimeri coniugati con emissione ottica nel visibile e con caratteristiche tensione-corrente adatte alla realizzazione di dispositivi emettitori di luce di tipo LED a base organica (OrganicLED) per applicazioni ai display a stato solido e illuminazione generale.
