Building on Experience:
Cooperation towards 2020
14 20
Salzburg | Austria | 21| 22 October 2014
This programme is
co-financed by the European Regional
Development Fund.
About
The Alpine Space Programme is the EU
transnational cooperation programme
for the Alps. Partners from the seven
Alpine countries work together to promote regional development in a sustainable way. During the period 2007-2013,
the Programme invested €130 million
in impact-oriented projects. These focused on competitiveness and attractiveness, accessibility and connectivity,
environment and risk prevention. The
Programme will continue in 2014-2020
and fund projects in the following four
priorities: Innovative Alpine Space, Low
Carbon Alpine Space, Liveable Alpine
Space and Well-governed Alpine Space.
Over the past 15 years, more than a
thousand project partners have collaborated on bringing common solutions in
order to jointly tackle Alpine challenges.
The Alpine Space Programme has now
entered a new chapter of cooperation
and will build on this common experience to pave the way to Europe 2020.
Marking the transition between two
programming periods, the Alpine Space
2020 Conference presents the results
achieved over the past seven years, and
prepares the ground for future cooperation projects on sustainable regional development. This occasion brings
together current and potential project
partners as well as stakeholders and
policy-makers of the area.
The format of this conference, from
the “action labs” in the plenary to the
“idea arena”, is designed to stimulate
contact-making, and to encourage the
emergence of new cooperation networks. We invite you to take advantage
of this opportunity to shape the 2020 vision for the Alpine Space!

The Alpine Space Programme has striven to organise
this Conference in a sustainable and environmentally
friendly manner:
The Programme has actively encouraged participants
to consider the environment when making their travel
and accommodation arrangements.
The use of online communication with participants
has and will be maximised in order to reduce waste.
Conference papers have also been limited to the
essentials.
Programme documents produced for this event are
printed on certified 100% recycled material.
All event locations, including dinner reception and
excursions, have been chosen based on their proximity
to the venue.
Booked hotels have also been chosen based on their
walking distance from the venue.
The use of local, and in the case of the dinner
reception, organic, products has been prioritised for
the catering of this event
Tap water will be provided for drinking at the
conference venue.
The conference venue is committed to standards
of sustainability and powered by renewable energy.
The venue also holds an Austrian Environmental
Seal of Approval award for upholding Ministerial
environmental guidelines.
