Junior School Principal’s Wednesday Newsletter October 30, 2013 Halloween will be celebrated here at the Junior School with a costume parade beginning at 2.30pm. Students should wear their usual school uniform to school tomorrow morning, but should they wish to dress up, will need to bring their costume with them in a bag to change into at around 2pm. The cortile has been decorated very spookily thanks to a terrific group of parents who have volunteered to make the afternoon a fun and memorable one for all of our children. Many thanks to all of them! There will be treats for all students in the cortile following the parade. Kindly note that costume props like swords, guns, or any other weapon type toy are not permitted as sometimes they get waved around and someone may be accidentally hurt. The weather is looking good and we are hoping to parade around the Italian Garden from 2.30. Bring your camera! Please note, too, that tomorrow is the last day before our Fall Break and that school will be closed this Friday and next Monday and Tuesday. We will re-­‐open next Wednesday. Please enjoy the holiday period with your children. Due to the upcoming holiday and the Halloween celebration, there will be no after school clubs at the Junior School tomorrow. All children should go home at 3.30, the usual ending time for school. The International Week planning is well underway and we are looking forward to a fun and interesting week November 11th through 15th, when we celebrate the cultures from all continents. We have some very interesting presentations in the plans and are grateful to those parents who have volunteered to take part. We will be sending along the schedule to those presenters when we return from the break. There will be a Coffee Morning on Thursday, November 7th at 9am for parents who are interested in learning more about our program in Italian Language. This meeting will be for the parents of children who are learning Italian as an additional language, not for those who are native speakers and are in the Italiano Programma. / Programma Italiano. Looking ahead to further in to November, all ISF faculty will be partaking in a professional development day on Friday, November 22nd at the Gattaia campus. There will be no school for any ISF children on that day. December 5th will be the date of the Winter Concert, which will start at 2pm, with school being dismissed for all but the pre-­‐school and pre-­‐kindergarten children at 1pm that day. Pre-­‐school and pre-­‐kindergarten children will remain at school until 3.30 and will have their concert the following week, just before the long winter break. Hope to see you tomorrow afternoon! Gli studenti indosseranno la loro uniforme scolastica al mattino e se si vogliono travestire, dovranno portare il costume e cambiarsi verso le ore 14. Il cortile è pieno di decorazioni spaventose, grazie all’aiuto di un eccezionale gruppo di mamme, che si sono offerte volontarie. Un caloroso ringraziamento a tutte loro! Dopo la sfilata, ci saranno dolcetti per tutti i ragazzi. Colgo l’occasione per farvi notare che accessori come armi, bastoni, spade, lance eccetra non sono permessi, poiché vogliamo evitare che qualcuno si faccia accidentalmente male. Il tempo sembra che reggerà e quindi vi aspettiamo alle 14.30 nel Giardino Italiano. Ricordatevi la macchina fotografica! Vi ricordo inoltre che domani è il nostro ultimo giorno di scuola prima della pausa del Fall Break: quindi la scuola sarà chiusa venerdì, lunedì e martedì, per riaprire mercoledì. Godetevi le vacanze con i vostri ragazzi! Vi ricordo che, in occasione della festa di Halloween, il Club del pomeriggio di domani è cancellato, quindi tutti i ragazzi andranno a casa alle ore 15.30. La programmazione per l’International Week è in pieno svolgimento e aspettiamo con ansia l’arrivo di questa settimana (dall’11 al 15 novembre) di divertimento e interesse, nella quale avremo l’occasione di celebrare le nostre diverse culture. In pentola bolle qualcosa di molto interessante e voglio ringraziare tutti coloro che si sono resi disponibili. A breve invieremo ai genitori volontari l’orario delle loro presentazioni. Il giorno 7 novembre ci sarà un altro Coffe Morining, a partire dalle ore 9, per i genitori che sono interessati a saperne di più sul Programma di Lingua Italiana. Questo incontro è per i genitori dei bambini che stanno imparando l’italiano come seconda lingua, non per i madrelingua, che sono invce nel Programma Italiano.
