CWMBACH MALE CHOIR
“Cwmbach Male Choir” è uno dei nomi più importanti
nel mondo dei cori maschili del Galles, e ha fatto molto
per tenere alta la magica reputazione da diventare un
marchio della nostra cultura del Valley. Nel corso degli
anni, il coro ha riscosso molto successo in ambito
competitivo, vincendo numerosi premi sia nel nativo
Galles che nel mondo. I ragazzi hanno rappresentato il
loro paese all’estero in molte occasioni di competizioni e
hanno esteso i tour in paesi come America, Canada, Sud
Africa e nei principali paesi d’Europa; proprio
recentemente sono tornati da un secondo tour del sud
della Spagna e dall’Irlanda.
Durante gli anni, il Cwmbach Male Choir si è esibito in
molte location prestigiose come la Royal Festival Hall, la
Robert Albert Hall, il Barbican, la St. David Hall, la
Nico Malan Opera House a Cape Town, la Roy
Thompson Hall a Toronto, e in numerose cattedrali di
tutto il mondo.
Il coro ha condiviso il palco con molti artisti famosi a
livello internazionale come Paul Robeson, Sir Geraint
Evans, Sir Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Sir Cliff Richard,
Daniel O’Donnell, Charlotte Church e Catherine
Jenkins, per nominarne solo alcuni. Più recentemente il
coro ha cantato con Darius, vincitore delle serie da ITV
Pop-star a Opera-star, in occasione di un evento tenutosi
a Londra per raccogliere fondi per la ricerca contro la
leucemia.
Il coro è nato nel 1921, con sede ad Aberdare nella
Valley del Galles del Sud in Gran Bretagna, dove
all’amore della gente per la musica fa solo concorrenza
il loro amore per il rugby.
E’ per questo motivo che uno dei più importanti sponsor
del coro coinvolge il loro sport nazionale. Il Cwmbach
Male Choir è stato il primo coro invitato dalla squadra
del “Welsh Rugby Union”, per esibirsi in uno dei parchi
più famoso del mondo “Cardiff Arms Park”, per
intrattenere la folla e accompagnare col canto l’avvio del
Concerto
Vocale
Torneo Internazionale di Rugby delle Cinque Nazioni.
Inoltre il coro si è esibito allo stadio “Millennium
Stadium”, famoso anzitutto per il torneo delle Sei
Nazioni tenutosi nel 2005, Galles contro Irlanda, che ha
visto il Galles completare il “Grand Slam”. Inoltre
hanno avuto l’onore di esibirsi alla cena finale della
Coppa del Mondo di Rugby del 1999, tenutasi
nell’Arena Internazionale di Cardiff. Nel febbraio del
2010, il coro ha cantato durante i festeggiamenti del 10°
anniversario dell’inaugurazione dello stadio di Francia a
Parigi.
Il loro più recente evento rilevante è stato quello di
intrattenere i media, gli sponsor e i critici di teatro alla
conferenza stampa della produzione teatrale di “Dirty
Dancing” presso il centro a Cardiff “Wales Millennium
Centre”. Lo scorso maggio il coro ha visitato Glasgow
in Scozia, dove si è esibito nella splendida Cattedrale di
Sant’Andrea, in un concerto per una raccolta fondi, a
favore delle vittime dell’incidente in elicottero a seguito
dei tragici eventi in un pub di Glasgow lo scorso anno.

CWMBACH MALE CHOIR
Cwmbach Male Choir is one of the best-known names in
Wales’ male choir world, and has done much to help
conjure –up the magical reputation that has become a
hallmark of our valleys’ culture. Over the years, the choir
has been very successful in the competitive field,
winning numerous prizes at competitions both in their
native Wales and across the globe. They have represented
their country abroad on many occasions in competitions
and have conducted extensive tours in countries such as
America, Canada, South Africa and across mainland
Europe, only recently returning from a second tour to
Southern Spain and to Ireland.
Over the years, the Cwmbach Male Choir has performed
in many prestigious venues including the Royal Festival
Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, the Barbican, St David’s
Hall, the Nico Malan Opera House in Cape Town, the
Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto, and in numerous
Cathedrals around the world.
music making is only matched by their love of rugby. It
is therefore fitting that some of the choir’s most
impressive credits involve their national game. The
Cwmbach Male Choir was the first choir to be invited by
the Welsh Rugby Union to perform at the world famous
Cardiff Arms Park to entertain the crowd and lead the
singing prior to a Five Nations Rugby International.
They have also performed at The Millennium Stadium,
most notably ahead of the Wales versus Ireland Six
Nations clash in 2005, which saw Wales complete the
‘Grand Slam’. They also had the honour of performing at
the final night dinner of the 1999 Rugby World Cup held
at the Cardiff International Arena. In February 2010, the
choir sang at the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the
opening of Stade de France in Paris.
Their most recent “major event” was to entertain the
media, sponsors and theatre critics at the Press
first-night launch of the stage production of “Dirty
Dancing” at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.
Last May, the Choir visited Glasgow, Scotland where it
performed in a fund-raising concert at the magnificent St
Andrew’s Cathedral for the Helicopter Crash Victims
Appeal Fund, following the tragic events at a Glasgow
pub last year.
Cwmbach Male Choir is delighted to be making its debut
in Croatia in May 2016
The Choir has shared the stage with many world famous
