Communication allows us to get the most out of our tradition. It makes our company’s present and future dealings known to the world at large. But it also helps us to receive indications and suggestions about everything that could be of use to the direct users of our tractors and this allows us to improve the quality of our products and services to an even greater extent. Towards the end of last year, Argo Tractors launched a new, clearer way of communicating, one that was established and founded on the values that identify our company. A program that began when the Internet web site www.argotractors.com was published and includes new initiatives, such as the new edition of the Landini and McCormick house organs. The former, now in its tenth edition, has been completely re-vamped with lots of different articles and information. It’s easier to read and is more directly in contact with the world that you farmers, farm contractors, ground care professionals and dealers experience day by day. The latter publication is completely new for the McCormick brand. It’s a magazine with a more international flavour, also rich in articles, initiatives, presentations of new products and opinions. Thus two journals, each dedicated to a brand but united by a common spirit, i.e. a new way of contacting, one able to spread the values, philosophy, success and innovations of the two makes both inside and outside the company. Publication of the new Landinista and McCormick Magazine is an important event for the tractor world as it provides communication media for imparting information and discussing development issues. A journal can provide significant opportunities, a means for conveying news and information in a formative way, besides being an element on which our corporate identity is based. More generally, our new house organs will allow us to disclose truly remarkable aspects of the brands to our public. Argo Tractors intends to propose quality communication media and will gradually broaden the outlook until achieving a mix that tells of events, of marketing, personal experience, keen interests, the trends of the market, of agriculture… while naturally keeping our attention focused on tractors. It's a demanding project but with hard work and determination there's nothing to stop us achieving our goal. And we’d like to do it together with you, by taking the cue from your ideas, proposals, criticism, technical queries. Your suggestions will be very welcome, so send us a mail to [email protected] Ruggero Cavatorta il Landinista 1 THE COMPANY Argo Tractors, a strategic focal point One single enterprise that includes two important brands. With one common goal: achieve qualitative excellence. T he Landini brand came under Argo Tractors in 2007. Argo Tractors is a tractor manufacturing enterprise of worldwide fame which, besides Landini, also possesses the McCormick brand. But how was Argo Tractors established and what was the reason for creating a single “focal point” for two brands with such different origins? Argo Tractors was the result of a re-organization process that took place within the Argo Industrial Group, the holding that controls several manufacturing enterprises, service-providing and distribution companies, besides various different brands in the agricultural machinery sector. Two of these are Landini and McCormick, important names in the tractor world that have acquired an important standing in the mar- 2 il Landinista ket and that will certainly grow and become even more established. Thus it became necessary to create a single undertaking able to provide the brands with adequate room for growth through a single-minded strategy. The establishment of Argo Tractors thus allowed the business activities of Landini and McCormick to be incisively coordinated, enabling them to benefit from the synergies deriving from the lengthy experience acquired by these two different companies from the same sector. This sharing of the heritage of know-how, experience and technologies acquired by each of the enterprises, now combined in a single undertaking, thus led to the success of both the brands and these characteristics have contributed towards the creation of unrivalled know how and global value. Integrated business True to the philosophy of the Argo Group to which it belongs, Argo Tractors has founded its business activities upon the deepest integration between manufacturing and commercial spheres in a strategy that makes the most out of the various and strongly amalgamated corporate areas: production, sales, ▲ 24.000 TRACTORS PRODUCED PER YEAR. ▲ 2.000 EMPLOYEES AND A CONSTANTLY INCREASING TURNOVER ▲ 20% OF THE SALES ARE OBTAINED ON THE DOMESTIC MARKET AND 80% FROM EXPORTS KEY Component Manufacturer argo tractors s.p.a. Finished Product enterprise Business enterprise mccormick france S.a.s. agriargo iberica s.a. Lamont industria da maquinas ltda argo france S.a.s. landini canada inc. R&D, engieering, purchases, logistics, pre and aftersales services. Thanks to the synergies developed between the two brands, it has now become possible to maximize the results by concentrating our efforts on the different business areas. This also occurs when it comes to tracking down everything that’s needed for creating and developing new products. Thus, for example, the manufacturing activities take place in four plants, each of which is dedicated to a specific product line. Moreover, there is another factory that deals with components and two after-sales service centers in Italy and France. Optimized resources Along with engineering, the research and development division is located in the headquarters of Fabbrico (Reggio Emilia). There are quality controls in all areas of the factory as the intention is to achieve qualitative excellence. Another aspect concerns distribution. Argo Tractors itself manages the distribution activities of the Italian market, through 170 dealers, and in another 9 foreign markets (France, Germany, Spain, UK, United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and South Africa), mccormick de mexico s.a. de C.V. argo industrial s.a. mccormick u.s.a. Inc. argo Gmbh through trading subsidiaries and the services of some 140 importers. About 50% of Argo Tractors’’ turnover is obtained from these markets, thus the branches play an extremely important role when it comes to the company's success. In actual fact, the foreign subsidiaries guarantee an average growth rate that’s superior to the Argo Tractors’ average, creating value in relation to both net returns on sales and invested capital. Although they comply with the corporate goals, the branches are completely self-managed and independent with a view to achieving the utmost customer satisfaction in the respective markets. Speaking in practical terms, all this boils down to tangible answers and high value for the farming professionals of all countries. Nowadays, with its Landini and McCormick tractors, Argo Tractors is present throughout Europe and the rest of the world with one of the most comprehensive product ranges available, with 35 to 200 HP machines in the 4 and 6 cylinder open field, orchard, vineyard, crawler and utility families. And with a level of excellence achieved by all the never-ending commitment dedicated to innovating and improving the quality of the product. ■ il Landinista 3 news Sima 2009, innovation is the winning card W hen it’s real, innovation will always attract a lot of attention. And Landini’s presence at Sima 2009 was no exception, as the visitors flocked to the large exhibition stand to view the innovations there with great interest. The new Powervision series was one of the main attractions, on show in a preview at the great French kermesse. A range that flanks the Powerfarm family, from which it inherits the cab and wheelbase, and the PowerMondial family, of which it has the same gearbox layout with three powershift ranges, the epicyclic final drives and the power lift. On the other hand, the look of the front grille and the newly designed front and rear light clusters are decidedly original. The engines are also new, i.e. natural aspiration for the PowerVision 80 model, turbo for PowerVision 90 and turbo aftercooler for the PowerVision 100 and 110 models. But alongside Powervision, there was a comprehensive array of new tractors, result of Landini’s ongoing commitment towards updating and developing the range. These tractors included the pioneering Powermondial, a machine that features Landini’s most complete technology in the medium power tractor segment. With three models, Powermondial 100, 110 and 115 in the Techno and Top versions, the new series was created to provide a high-level performance for open field work in both lighter duty and heavy duty applications. There were also lots of innovations in the lower power bracket as the new Mistral was launched. This was already a well-known tractor in Landini’s range, but was presented in a completely re-vamped version thanks to important restyling work that involved both the exterior appearance of the machine and its technology. Sima 2009. The Argo Tractors stand and the visit from the Minister of Agriculture Michel Barnier. Last but by no means not least, Landini’s telescopic Powerlift certainly couldn’t have failed to be on show at Sima. This machine has also been renewed and will be sure to conquer an important slice of the French market. Backed by tried-and-tested experience with different types of tractors, Landini thus confirmed its dedication to technological innovation, achieved thanks to constant synergy between the farmers’ requirements and research into dedicated solutions. An aspect that certainly didn’t escape the notice of the more important guests at Sima, such as the French Minister of Agriculture, Michel Barnier, on an official visit to the fair, who stopped by at the Argo Tractors stand. President Nicolas Sarkozy actually visited the Argo Tractors stand at SIA, the International Agriculture Show, which was held at the same time as Sima. The interest aroused during the event underscored how technology and innovation still produce a catalyzing effect on the farm machinery sector. And once again, Landini demonstrated the enormous power of attraction that, thanks to its dynamic production philosophy, it is able to exercise on the international scene. 4 il Landinista Powermondial makes its debut at Lanciano P owermondial is the latest celebrity. Once again, the versatile 100 HP model from the Landini range was the protagonist of an event dedicated to all sectors of the complex and many-faceted agricultural panorama: the Lanciano Trade Fair. Now held for the 47th time, the event dedicated to agriculture proved yet again to be the most important fair of its kind in central-southern Italy by offering everything that’s most up to date and advanced in the farming world, including machinery. Landini dealers Cipollone from Miglianico (CH) and Agrimacchine Emmeti of Scerni (CH) took part in the fair, which was held from 24 to 27 April, and received crowds of visitors in the Landini stand where the innovations aroused great interest, especially Powermondial, a perfect combination of performance and adaptability. Lanciano Trade Fair. Landini’s Tractor range was on show from 24 to 27 April. Argo Tractors, agreement with Unima O ffer farm-contractors exclusive services and conditions: this was the goal of ArgoTractors which, with a view to dealing in an increasingly more professional and dedicated way with the farm machinery enterprises, signed an agreement with Unima the association that represents farmcontractors locally and on a national and community scale. Amongst the initiatives in favour of farm-contractors, the Unima associates will be able to take advantage of packages at special terms, subsidized loans, advantageous conditions for spare parts and lubricants, technical manuals and house organs free of charge. Moreover, the agreement also involves the Landini dealers, who will be able to organize product presentations, visits to the Fabbrico plants and other promotional initiatives in collaboration with Unima’s provincial headquarters. Thanks to this agreement, ArgoTractors will be able to strengthen Landini’s image to an even further extent, while the brand will become even more well known on both a local and national scale. This is the first step of a strategic plan that Argo Tractors has undertaken in favour of the professional categories, in which it intends to invest to an increasing extent by offering tailor-made solutions. Argo Tractors. Increasingly closer relations with the professional categories is one of the future goals. il Landinista 5 news Landini dealer meeting T he sales network is a true capital for Landini. This is why it is always the center of attention in every trade activity, development strategy and corporate business upgrade. So the annual dealer meeting is a very important event as it is a time for discussing results and prospects. Landini organized two meetings with the dealer network in 2008 and in October, called the dealers from the Central North areas to Reggio Emilia and those from the South to Matera. The schedule of the two meetings was particularly intensive and saw the participation of Alberto Morra from the Steering Committee, Mario Danieli, Sales Manager for Italy, Ruggero Cavatorta, Marketing and Communications Manager and Antonio Salvaterra, Product Manager. Not only did the dealer meeting give Landini the chance to do all the usual things, i.e. discuss the business trend, analyze the market and plan future goals, but also to share information with the dealers about the numerous initiatives in which Landini is investing. One of these is the new web site, others include the promotional campaigns, development of the sales literature and coordinated image, the Powermondial Adventure competition and participation in the more important agricultural machinery trade fairs. These dealer meetings also gave Landini the chance to officially present the Eima 2008 innovations and the structure of Argo Tractors with all the relative strategies. Reggio Emilia. A photo of the dealer meeting. Powervision: the 2009 innovation O fficially launched at Sima in Paris, this is one of Landini’s most important innovations for 2009. With four models in the 80 to 110 HP power bracket, the new Powervison range represents the state-of-the-art of the Fabbrico plant and is a knowing blend amongst PowerFarm and the PowerMondial and Vision families, which inspired its specific performance and reliability features. The gearbox is modular and versatile, with a basic version comprising 4 synchronized speed gears and three mechanical ranges with oil-cooled multiple-plate PTO. The 12+12 entry level is available for both the 30 kph and 40 kph Eco versions, while there is an intermediate 24+12 version complete with mechanical reverse shuttle and overdrive. Some of the substantial innovations include the hydraulic reverse shuttle module and 3-stage T-Tronic H-M-L (High-Medium low) powershift, for a total 36+12 speeds. The creeper is available as an optional for all versions. The Declutch function allows the operator to shift the mechanical gears with the button on the gearshift lever. The Declutch is engaged by means of the electronic controller, the same one that controls the hydraulic reverse shuttle, the T-Tronic HML gearbox and the PTO. The mechanical power lift is equipped with draft control function that acts on the lower links. Powervision. One of Landini’s most important innovations for 2009. 6 il Landinista Landini sponsors “Alla corte del vino” G reat tractors and great wines were on show together from last 22 to 24 May at Villa le Corti in San Casciano Val di Pesa, in the province of Florence. Thus Landini sponsored “Alla Corte del Vino”, the event which, held for the 13th time, had gathered a selection of over one hundred of the most renowned Tuscan producers and several names known throughout Italy. Organized by Duccio Corsini, the venue underscored how the quality of the wines created in the Tuscan region is the result of a delicate mix that depends on the territory, history, countryside and culture of that area but also on production methods that combine perfectly with the excellence of production, i.e. Landini tractors. In actual fact, Landini is the historic leader of this segment as it offers a highly specialized range of machines in which every constructional detail is designed and engineered by focusing on the final goal, that of superb quality work in the vineyards. Nowadays, Landini’s vineyard range is also able to provide dedicated solutions for all types of enterprise and situation, from the well known Rex, specialist par excellence, to the more versatile Mistral and Alpine series through to the Trekker crawler range, the only one of its kind on the market as to technical specifications suitable for professional use. Landpower joins the Civil Defence F rom agriculture to emergency procedures. Landini tractors are able to deal with the most unthinkable situations, including Civil Defence. Proof of this is the Landpower DT 135 that Manferdini Macchine Agricole of Bologna consigned last May to the Civil Defence division of the borough of Sala Bolognese (BO). Bologna. The Landpower tractor is consigned to the Civil Defence. This is the first case in Italy of a tractor in use by the Civil Defence for emergency situations. To allow this, the Landpower tractor was registered as a selfpropelled machine and is now part of the mobile column. The Landpower tractor proved to be of great use during the year and took part in numerous emergency interventions where it was able to show all its qualities as a reliable machine able to provide a high performance in every situation. Something about which both Landini and the dealer who consigned the tractor can certainly be proud. Powerlift becomes even more efficient and economical L andini’s telescopic power lift becomes even more powerful and performance-oriented. It has been given a new, latest generation 4-cylinder 4400 cc. Sisudiesel Tier 3 engine that’s more efficient, economical and environment-friendly while providing a 150 HP power rating with 110 HP available at the PTO. Meanwhile, the cooling system has also been improved so as to achieve an even higher performance from the telescopic machine. No changes have been made to the other characteristics of the Powerlift which, with three patents, a 9-meter telescopic arm and 2,850 kg carrying capacity, combines the functions of a telescopic power lift, agricultural tractor and forestry machine in a single vehicle. Powerlift. Landini’s telescopic lift with the new Tier 3 engine. il Landinista 7 PRODUCT Mistral: the little tractor ...for everyone Lots more different uses for the range’s new generation version T hey need to be compact but also powerful, versatile and comfortable. For farmers, that’s what tractors need to be. Perfect for agricultural use where space is at a premium, such as between the crop rows in vineyards, orchards and greenhouses, but excellent for light work in the open fields, for gardening or ground care in parks and towns. This was the philosophy behind the Mistral 8 il Landinista range, a product that dates back to 1998 when Landini presented the very first generation of these tractors. A range that immediately became popular with the farmers thanks to a highly important feature: multifunctional use. In other words, the Mistral tractors have been able to combine a compact shape with the features of a highly specialized tractor possessing ▲ THE LINE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY RESTYLED TO ACHIEVE A MODERN, WRAP-AROUND LOOK THAT MAKES THE MISTRAL SERIES IDEAL FOR SPECIALISTIC USES. ▲ THE RANGE INCLUDES FOUR MODELS WITH 35.5 – 44 - 47.5 AND 54.2 HP POWER RATINGS AND VERSIONS WITH THE CAB OR FOLDING SAFETY FRAME. ▲ DECIDEDLY COMPREHENSIVE STANDARD EQUIPMENT FOR A WIDE RANGE OF USES IN THE FARM, IN THE OPEN FIELDS AND FOR ROAD TRANSPORT. the power and performance of a much larger machine. Now, the spotlight is back on the Mistral series, which does not merely sport new Yanmar Tier 3 engines, but has been completely restyled to suit the requirements of an increasingly larger number of farming enterprises. Modern design ▲ A change that becomes evident right from the exterior appearance of the machine. The “facelift” has involved the shape and the ergonomic arrangement of all the controls. The rermarkably small bonnet, the wrap-around rear mudguards and the folding safety frame also make these tractors ideal for specialistic uses where shoots and branches could make it difficult for machines to pass through. Modern in design, the Mistral tractors are absolutely agile and easy to handle, with a weight/ power ratio of just 29 kg/HP, making them perfect for soil working jobs in small farms or for DIY uses. Mistral tractors are the best choice for enterprises that require low purchasing and running costs but with a complete set of standard equipment. il Landinista 9 PRODUCT NEW YANMAR TNV SERIES HIGH-TECHNOLOGY ENGINES These new generation Mistral tractors are equipped with Yanmar TNV 3 and 4-cylinder aspirated and turbo engines that stand for high performance, low fuel consumption and noise levels, a generous torque reserve and respect for the environment. The 16-valve engine in the Mistral 55 version is decidedly interesting, with its exhaust gas recirculation system that reduces harmful emissions. This model’s 4 valves per cylinder guarantee excellent combustion and fast exhaust that boost the engine performance to an even higher degree. The electronically controlled fuel feeding system with Eco Governor controller allows the performance to be monitored and improved to a further extent thanks to the optimized injection system. Simple controls and manoeuvrability are ideal for ground care, where the reverse shuttle must be used for repeated changes of direction. Moreover, since they can be fitted with various types of implement, these tractors are also very useful for other purposes, such as clearing snow off the roads. ▲ Small enterprises and DIY jobs Thanks to their efficiency and versatility, Mistral tractors are suitable for many different jobs. They acquire their excellent performance with soil tilling implements such as ploughs and cultivators thanks to their optimum weight power/ratio, engine and transmission performance. Mistral. A tractor that provides unrivalled versatility, power and comfort despite its small size. ▼ THE APPLICATIONS The range features a basic 30 kph gearbox (12FWD+12REV speeds) in conjunction with a creeper with 32 ratios for a total 16FWD+16REV speeds. The synchronized reverse shuttle reverses any gear. True to the new construction standards, the controls are in front and at the side of the steering wheel. The hydraulic circuit features a 48 l/min flow rate. The mechanical power lift with three-point hitch can lift up to 1200 kg, while 3 single and double-acting auxiliary control valves are available. The controls are positioned on the new panel on the driver’s right. The mechanical PTO is synchronized and features two speed rates, i.e. 540/750 RPM. Moreover, the front power lift and PTO can be installed on request. Despite their small size, these tractors provide unrivalled versatility, power and comfort, besides being very simple to use. The cockpit is assembled on a sprung platform and the fully re-vamped controls are all in ergonomic and instinctive positions. The cab version offers exceptional visibility and an excellent air conditioning system that guarantees the utmost comfort for the operator. This is why Mistral may be a small-size tractor, but it's certainly great as to performance. ■ il Landinista 11 focus W hen technology is standardized, the thing that makes the difference between one tractor and the next is comfort. And anyone who possesses a Powermondial tractor certainly knows what “comfort” means as from that aspect, this machine is truly outstanding. This Landini range stands out for its generously sized cab, decidedly spacious as compared to the standard cab usually to be found in the 100 HP tractor bracket and able to provide the operators with extremely comfortable surroundings that will take the fatigue out of work. The cockpit is certainly spacious, as is the generous distance between the dashboard and seat. This is also true of the passenger seat, which can be folded back and out of the way for total freedom of movement. But all this available space is not the only feature of the Powermondial cab as it also provides excellent visibility, facilitating every operation in the fields with both front and rear implements. All this is also guaranteed by the structure, which features four pillars and large windows, all of which contribute towards all-round visibility. The side doors also sport large windows that open outwards. They have a convenient handrail that makes it easier for the operator to get in and out of the cockpit. The rear window pushes open to provide better ventilation, while the glass roof window increases the visibility above when front loaders are used. The ventilation, heating and air conditioning systems are installed in the roof and create the ideal environmental conditions for the operator. Moreover, perfect pressurizing allows the cab interior to be isolated so that dust and chemicals are unable to enter when pest control treatments are carried out. Excellent soundproofing creates a silent environment and makes life less stressing even after many hours at work. Cab interior. Great care to detail with the fittings and finishes. Dashboard. Easy to consult, includes all the information that’s needed for controlling the tractor. 5-star comfort 12 il Landinista The cockpit The comfortable sensation does not change when you get into the cockpit. All the controls are easy to reach. They are positioned in a simple, logical way so as to ensure that the operator always has full control over the vehicle in all conditions. The padded and adjustable ergonomic seat has suspensions that adapt to the driver’s weight, while pneumatic suspensions are available on request, making the tractor extremely pleasant to drive. The steering wheel can be adjusted as to height and slant so as to quickly adapt to the different driving conditions. New lining materials create a pleasant and qualitatively better interior. The dashboard Lastly, the dashboard completes the comfort features of the Powermondial cab. The material used and the non-reflecting glass allow the operator to consult the tractor parameters even in difficult environmental conditions, such as bright sunlight. The digital indicators provide precise information about the engine rate, PTO speed rate and ground speed. The ventilating, heating and air conditioning system is installed in the roof, as are the relative controls, thus allowing the utmost freedom of movement for the operator. The Top version of the Powermondial range also offers the automatic air conditioner which automatically regulates all the cooling and heating functions according to the temperature setting selected by the operator. This means that the air recirculation and windscreen demisting functions are controlled in the automatic mode, thus improving the overall comfort features of the cab to an even greater extent. ■ Cockpit. Besides being particularly comfortable, the cockpit is also extremely convenient to work in. for Powermondial. il Landinista 13 ENGINES New Tier III engines for the entire Landini range More compact, powerful and silent. T hese new engines provide extra comfort and lower running costs. Thus ArgoTractors continues its race towards innovation. Promptly complying with the European and North American standards governing emissions into the environment, the Fabbrico plant upgraded its entire range of Landini tractors by offering the new Tier III from the year 2009. Thus shrewd decisions were made for all models by adopting tailor-made solutions for each power category and type of use. The Landini range is actually one of the most comprehensive when it comes to marketed models. It covers specialistic requirements, those of small enterprises and professional users alike and also includes highpower machines with over 200 HP ratings (19 ranges and 56 versions per brand). Not only does this engine upgrade, with use of Tier III engines, allow Argo Tractors to comply with the legal provisions, Scegli Landini. 14 il Landinista rispetto per l’ambiente comfort risparmio valore al tuo usato www.landini.it ® Una storia italiana + more respect for the environment: fewer harmful emissions + more comfort: less noise and vibrations + more performance: higher torque available + more savings: lower running costs + more value for used machines: less depreciation over time Passa al Tier 3. Piace all’ambiente e conviene anche a te. + + + + but it also allows the company to provide the end user with new competitive benefits: Besides being “cleaner”, i.e. more respectful of the environment, the new Tier III engines are also smaller in size, leaving enough space to optimize the engine compartment. In many cases, this has allowed us to opt for a tilting bonnet, which certainly simplifies engine maintenance and inspections. Meanwhile, the new Tier III engines are also more silent. They provide a better performance thanks to the higher torque available and feature lower running costs. Servicing operations are actually required less frequently and oil consumption is lower. This is also due to a distinct improvement in efficiency since the engines are able to respond to the changing work conditions in a more flexible way. Lastly, it is worthwhile remembering that thanks to use of Tier III engines, the value of a second-hand tractor remains much higher over time, thus the purchase of a Landini tractor turns into a real investment. ■ COMPETITION The circuits. Particular care has been taken with the video game art-work, which includes several competition settings. “Powermondial Adventure”, racing towards the Caribbean The DVD package. A virtual game to launch the new tractor, protagonist of a ground-breaking marketing strategy and a competition with prizes P owermondial is the unrivalled protagonist of spring 2009. From trade fair celebrity to pride of place in numerous Open days, Landini’s new tractor has also become the star of a video game that’s turned into a competition with prizes. An unusual way of launching a product based on a pioneering marketing strategy involving the end user in a virtual game in which the protagonist is the current star of the Landini range: the new Powermondial tractor. “Powermondial Adventure”. It’s actually a virtual race where, “on board” a brand-new Powermondial tractor, you can compete against other virtual opponents and test your ability as a pilot in three exciting circuits filled with obstacles and unexpected events, with different levels of difficulty. Since bonuses can also be acquired along the way, the “pilot player” can increase his tractor’s power and chances of success. To obtain the best score, the user must not just race the tractor as fast as he can, but must also know how to get the most out of the technical-functional features of his vehicle, the same ones that the farmer uses on a real tractor. For example, these include simultaneous locking of the differentials, the four-wheel drive and suspended axle. Those who practice and obtain the best result can record their score via the Internet up to the month of June and obtain one of the numerous prizes awarded each month, which include an HP notebook and an I-Pod. Moreover, they can also take part in the final super-winner lottery draw, with a Costa cruise to the Caribbean for 2 persons as the prize. To take part, just collect the innovative Video game available from all Landini dealers and try your luck sitting comfortably at home. But Powermondial’s involvement is not just virtual. Lots of further marketing initiatives have been organized for the new tractor range. These include the innovative press campaign and the dedicated Open days organized for next spring by the Landini dealer network throughout the whole of Italy. Powerful and aggressive, Landini’s Powermondial series is therefore competing for a great market challenge both in the fields, where it offers excellent solutions in the 100 to120 HP power bracket, and in the web, where there’s also an area dedicated to all the initiatives concerning the new range, including the competition regulations. ■ DEALER NETWORK Powermondial days: the dealers make merry Open doors and entertainment as Landini’s new range is launched A direct link amongst Argo Tractors, the dealers and customers to acquire information, exchange opinions and get to know the new Powermondial range first hand. This was the strategy chosen by several Landini dealers in collaboration with the Fabbrico plant, so as to present the new protagonist of 2009, i.e. Powermondial. Thus, from the beginning of the year in different parts of Italy, various Landini dealers organized a Powermondial Day, i.e. a customized open day during which they launched and illustrated the new range while providing their own added value for the initiative, which they chose according to the characteristics of the area, the type of customers and, last but not least, their own imagination. EUROAGRI - Taranto The Open day organized by Euroagri featured a double target as, besides presenting Powermondial, the dealer also included another important event by inaugurating the new showrooms. During the two days, 17 and 18 January, Euroagri created an event during which the Latorrata family gathered all its customers and colleagues together. There was an evening’s entertainment for everyone, in which the Mayor of Massafra, town in which the company has its headquarters, also took part as representative of the town’s institutions. And Landini’s representatives also came to the event, where Powermondial and the entire Landini range were presented during the festivities. There were various stirring interludes as the evening went by. First, when the ribbon was cut, followed by an imposing buffet supper. After the toasts and good wishes, the evening of the 17th came to a close in the yard, where the vintage “Hot-bulb” tractors owned by Euroagri started up and bade farewell to the onlookers with the typical rumble of their engines. Powermondial, the latest creation of the Fabbrico plant, was the center of attraction in the yard the following morning, and the customers were able to examine and appreciate it before enjoying an aperitif and saying Euroagri. And to become even more active in the area, this historic Landini dealer has now re-vamped its look with a building erected on two levels. The first, used as a showroom, covers an area of some 300 sq m while the second, used as a spare parts store, occupies 200 sq m with adjacent reception office. The area outside the building is remarkable for its sober and elegant style. It combines both an old-fashioned and modern look and is completed by a yard measuring about 200 sq m alongside the road (Ss 7 Appia). MANIERI - Viterbo Manieri enjoys great success in the province of Viterbo. During the two “Powermondial Days”, which took place last 4 and 5 April, the well known Landini dealer actually contacted 650 participants. A large crowd just itching to see the new range of tractors and true to the close relations that Manieri establishes with ▲ their goodbyes. The event concluded with a final speech from the founder: “During a recession, like the one we’re experiencing now, a sector such as ours, which is the basis of the economy in the area, needs fresh input. We believe that now, more than in any other period, we need to make the farmers’ requirements our own. We need to advise and assist them both as they purchase and afterwards. In our opinion, the after-sales services (assistance and spares) are essential and of vital importance for an enterprise like ours, which is now acknowledged as the leading company in our area of competence both as to skills and the serious dealings for which we have always stood out. By re-modernizing our headquarters and our organization, this is the philosophy we intend to transmit to all those who have always trusted in us”. Established in 1993 by the founder Mario Latorrata and now managed together with his sons Gianfranco and Salvatore, Euroagri is, for Taranto and the surrounding province, an undertaking that combines seri- il Landinista 17 ▼ DEALER NETWORK 18 its customers in the provinces of Viterbo and Terni, who consider the dealer to be a reliable reference point and very professional. Having marketed the Landini brand since 1968, Manieri has naturally acquired tried-and-tested experience in the farm machinery sector. Nowadays, the proprietor Luigi Maria Manieri and his sister Luigia, represent the third generation of the family, which established the business in 1963. All this has resulted in professional dealings that are perfectly perceived as such and are appreciated by the customers, who know that they can count on service and on the dealer’s support in every circumstance. Thus there are very close relations between Manieri and its customers, a link that was also underscored by the way in which this event was organized with personalized invitations and the additional chance to take part in a successive visit to the Landini plant in Fabbrico. During the two “Powermondial Days”, the public flocked to the Manieri headquarters of Viterbo in an uninterrupted stream from morning to evening, enjoying the festive air that accompanied the event and finally getting a close-up of Powermondial, a tractor able to unleash all its open-field versatility in the countryside of the Viterbo area by offering a new form of mechanization. il Landinista OMA - Licata (Agrigento) Oma of Licata, in the province of Agrigento, was the first Sicilian dealer to host the presentation of Landini's new Powermondial tractor. Thus, last 4 April, the tractor made its debut in the headquarters of the dealer who also works in the Caltanissetta area and part of Enna, besides the province of Agrigento. Well aware of the important opporunity provided by this priviledge, Oma organized the event in an impeccable manner and transformed the Powermondial Day of 5 April from a purely informative meeting into a time of suspense and entertainment. After presenting the characteristics of the new machine inside the dealer’s premises, the participants were transferred to the external yard where Powermondial, which had been kept hidden up to that moment, made its entrance. And to everyone’s surprise, two splendid girls appeared alongside the machine and turned the venue into an even more light-hearted and sparkling event. The same program was repeated in the afternoon after an abundant buffet, thus satisfying the curiosity of the succession of spectators who had followed each other during the course of the day. The organization was established around twenty years ago as an “Authorized Mobile Workshop” and has always been dedicated to providing service in the tractor sector, where it has acquired unrivalled experience. Nowadays, assistance still remains an important part of the business, and is provided by the proprietors and their 5 employees. There are many customers from very diversified sectors. One must not forget that the dealer’s area produces many different crops, from vegetables grown in greenhouses, to orchards and vineyards and even extensive open-field cultivations. These customers all have very different needs, since they range from specialized smallholders to large-scale farm-contractors. PARDI snc - Arnaccio (PI) The technology of Powermondial combines perfectly with the needs of an area where wheat and sunflower crops are an important reality. Besides vineyards, various different extensive crops are also widespread in the Pisa area where dealer Pardi works, thus the new Landini tractor represents an interesting opportunity for the various soil-working processes involved. The public was certainly very interested in seeing the new Powermondial tractor at Pardi, an enterprise that has been doing business in the farm machinery sector for over 60 years and has been a Landini dealer for the past 25. Thus, on 5 April, the dealer opened the doors to his enterprise not only to allow his guests to examine the new tractor first hand, but to present the entire Landini range along with a vast array of agricultural and gardening implements. “Despite the difficulties on the market,” affirmed Fabio Pardi, “our customers very much appreciated the characteristics of the new tractor and took part in the day’s festivities with great interest. We are certain that this augurs well for the future success of a modern, all-purpose tractor like Powermondial”. ■ OMA. PFG Australia launches Powermondial at the cricket stadium. australia HUNGARY Powermondial is launched in Australia Axial’s 18 years are celebrated at the trade-fair Powermondial is now ready to face the Australian market as well. In actual fact, it was officially launched last 17 April in front of Ponsford Stand, at the famous cricket stadium of Melbourne. Some 50 dealers flocked to Melbourne to view and try out the new tractor. As one of the Landini dealers commented: “We’ve now got a tractor with superior characteristics to the Vision series, with modern Tier 3 engines, an excellent cab and an up-to-theminute look borrowed from the larger Powermaster” series. Thus, the very next day the dealers and journalists got the chance to test-drive the Powermondial range on the Go-Kart track near the port of Melbourne and to pay a visit to the headquarters of the Argo Tractors PFG Australia branch in Derrimut. A network of 15 dealers, 524 employees and a steadily growing turnover. These are the figures that now describe Axial, Landini’s Hungarian importer, which now celebrates its 18 years in the business. An event that was fêted at the new headquarters of Baja during the outdoor trade-fair that Axial organizes each year to present the vast array of machines and implements that the organization distributes throughout Hungary. A trade-fair that turned into a party, which began with a gala evening to which all the suppliers were invited. This was followed next day by a constant stream of product presentations that also included Landini’s Powermax and Powermondial, and entertainment. Amongst the protagonists of the venue was Landini, which has been entertaining profitable business relations with Axial for the past 11 years and had decided to mark the event with a recognition plaque during the anniversary festivities. Axial is actually one of the best organized enterprises in the Landini universe, something that is also acknowledged by the farmers in the area as testified by the amazing fact that Axial dealt with over 7,000 contacts in just one day. This is the reign of the Rex series, but also of the richly comprehensive range that Landini is able to offer for the specialized farming practices conducted in this area. Despite the current difficulties on the market, the dealer partners of Panergon continue to do their utmost and to obtain important results in Greece. And it is for this reason that this year, Landini decided to award the commitment of all those who worked so hard by consigning a recognition plaque to 6 dealers from the North of Greece. These included four of Landini’s historic dealers but also two recently nominated ones that already stand out for having got off to a good start. These recognition plaques acknowledge how Landini shares in the dealers’ business strategies, but also extend the company's best wishes for a future of continuous development. An extremely singular visit took place last 5 and 6 February at the Argo Tractors plants. This time, Landini’s guests were students from the Higher Institute for Agriculture of Novo Mesto, one of the most famous schools of Agriculture in Slovenia. The 50 youngsters were accompanied during their trip to Italy by the Slovenian importer Si-ja, the proprietor of which is Branko Mikulan. The students visited all the Argo Tractors plants (Fabbrico, Luzzara, San Martino and Emmegi), as well as one of the traditional farms in the area, with a cattle breeding division and dairy where Parmigiano Reggiano cheese is produced. The students showed a very lively interest in both visits. Many came from farming families and plan to work in the family farms in the near future. Landini’s importer Si-ja has now acquired a considerable portion of the market in Slovenia, where openfield tractors with 80 to 110 HP power ratings are amongst the more popular machines. Fabbrico. W hen it comes to Tractor Pulling, it’ll be a 2009 crammed full of innovations for Landini. For the tractor makers of Fabbrico (RE), the 2009 championship will certainly be full of surprises that will be sure to liven up the competition grounds. Last 19 April in Fabbrico, Argo Tractors presented the new tractors that will challenge their opponents during the Italian TPI 2009 championship. One last innovation concerns the legendary “Bufalinas”, the girls that many spectators find no less attractive than the tractors.
