1. SCAMBI GIOVANILI
• Visita preliminare in Romania per scambio interculturale: tre
giorni completamente spesati
Dal 28 agosto al 5 settembre in Romania, a Busteni in una suggestiva località
sui monti Carpazi a circa 50 km da Bucharest, si terrà lo scambio “Green
Consumer”. L’obiettivo del progetto è quello di sviluppare nei giovani
un’attitudine critica in qualità di consumatori e maturare una precisa
consapevolezza rispetto al loro ruolo di consumatori. Educazione ecologica, un
approccio differente al consumo, e l’apprendimento di metodi non formali per
sviluppare una forma mentis sempre più sensibile alla sostenibilità e al rispetto
ambientale, sono alla base dei temi che verranno trattati nel progetto.
Prima della realizzazione dello scambio è prevista una visita preliminare, tra
Busteni e Buzau, a cui deve partecipare un rappresentante
per ogni gruppo che prenderà parte al progetto:
Lettonia, Lituania, Polonia, Spagna, Estonia, Romania
e Italia (normalmente chi partecipa alla visita
preliminare prende anche parte al progetto in
qualità di group leader).
Durante la visita preliminare si prende contatto
col posto e con gli altri reponsabili, si visita la
località in cui verrà effettuato lo scambio e le
strutture che ospiteranno i partecipanti, si
discute del programma del progetto, delle
responsabilità, dei rimborsi, delle attività, e delle
serate interculturali.
Per la visita preliminare, che si terrà il week end del
3-4-5 giugno, l’associazione Scambieuropei sta cercando
una persona disposta a rappresentare il gruppo
italiano.
Tutte le spese di viaggio, vitto e alloggio saranno completamente coperte. Al
partecipante è richiesto solo il tesseramento annuale all’associazione
Scambieuropei di 40 euro.
Il candidato ideale deve essere in grado di comunicare in inglese senza
problemi e avere già partecipato almeno ad uno scambio. In linea di massima
il candidato potrebbe prendere parte allo scambio che si terrà ad agosto.

2. CONCORSI e PREMI
• Council of Europe Youth Media Award 2011, concorso per
giovani giornalisti
EYP and the Council of Europe are calling on young journalists from across
Europe to enter the recently launched second Council of Europe Youth Media
Award. The theme of the competition is media freedom and the competition
kicked off on 1 March with a deadline of 1 August.
Four categories are open to contestants between the ages of 18 and 30:
photography, video, radio and print journalism. Winners will be invited to
Strasbourg to receive their cash prize of €1000 at a ceremony during the
plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly.
This year’s theme is inspired by one of the most important
articles of the European Convention of Human Rights
– Article 10 . Without a free media and plurality of
opinion, democratic societies can no longer exist.
Yet contemporary media are under threat from
violence against journalists, attempts at
government control, concentration of ownership
of media outlets, dwindling standards in press
freedom and the surge of the internet as a
source of instant news.
The Award is organised by the European Youth
Press in collabortion with the Council of Europe.

• Concorso fotografico internazionale ‘People's landscapes'
Mostrare il paesaggio attraverso gli occhi dei giovani e catturare l'anima e
l'identità in movimento dei luoghi, in particolare quelli degradati e quelli della
vita quotidiana. E' l'obiettivo della seconda edizione del concorso fotografico
internazionale ‘People's landscapes', promosso dall'European network of
universities for the implementation of the european landscape convention
(Uniscape). Le immagini devono rispecchiare l'approccio della Convenzione
europea al paesaggio inteso come lo spazio naturale, rurale, urbano e
periurbano, i paesaggi terrestri, le acque interne e marine, i paesaggi della vita
quotidiana come i paesaggi degradati.

Tre le sessioni previste, ‘Paesaggi urbani', ‘Paesaggi idilliaci', ‘Denuncia sociale'
e altrettanti premi del valore di 300 euro. Possono partecipare tutti gli studenti
universitari (di laurea, di master e di dottorato) dai 18 ai 35 anni, iscritti a una
qualsiasi università europea o a una qualsiasi università internazionale con
almeno una sede in Europa. Ogni studente può concorrere con un massimo di
tre immagini digitali, a colori o in bianco e nero. Le fotografie e i documenti per
partecipare al concorso devono pervenire entro il 15 maggio 2011 all'indirizzo

• Concorso per giovani designer
Si chiama “Milano arreda” e si rivolge a tutti i fotografi, grafici, designer, artisti
e studenti che vogliono mettersi in gioco con le loro idee. In occasione di un
rinnovamento dell’arredamento interno, l’Hotel Milano di Padova ha indetto un
concorso nazionale d’arte, avente come tema l’elaborazione
di opere originali, per le camere e la hall, che
riproducano, o ricordino, la città di Milano. Ampio
spazio a personalità e originalità, quindi: ogni
candidato potrà creare liberamente il proprio
modello di arredamento e decidere se lavorare
anche in gruppo. Tutte le opere devono essere
inviate in formato digitale via mail a

2011. Un’apposita giuria composta da esperti di
grafica e design e dal direttore dell’Hotel Milano
sceglierà i 16 elaborati vincitori. Tra questi, uno
sarà decretato vincitore assoluto e l’autore riceverà
in premio un soggiorno di tre notti per due persone
presso l’hotel. Tutte e 16 le opere selezionate saranno
esposte nelle camere dell’albergo e agli autori sarà
assegnata una targa di riconoscimento durante l’evento di premiazione ufficiale.

• Premio per tesi de laurea sul consumo sostenibile
La Fondazione ICU (Istituto Consumatori e Utenti) ha come fine statutario la
ricerca e la divulgazione delle tematiche consumeriste, la creazione di corsi di
aggiornamento e il sostegno alle associazioni dei consumatori, in particolare
Federconsumatori. Dal 2004 indice il premio per tesi di laurea sul “Consumo

• Concorso per il disegno della moneta commemorativa da due
euro
Il 1° gennaio 2012 festeggeremo il decimo anniversario dell'introduzione delle
banconote e delle monete che sono entrate nella vita quotidiana della
popolazione dei paesi dell'eurozona. Da oggi tutti i cittadini dell'area dell'euro
potranno partecipare ad un concorso con cui si sceglierà il disegno della moneta
commemorativa da due euro destinata alla circolazione che i 17 Stati membri
dell'eurozona emetteranno per celebrare l'evento. A partire dal 29 aprile e fino
al 20 maggio i partecipanti potranno trasmettere il loro disegno tramite il link
sottostante. In seguito una giuria di esperti effettuerà una prima selezione delle
proposte, scegliendo la rosa dei cinque candidati che in giugno, per un periodo
di tre settimane, sarà sottoposta al voto pubblico via web, sempre sulla stessa
pagina Internet. Il disegno vincente sarà annunciato il 30 giugno 2011. Il
vincitore del concorso vedrà il suo disegno e le sue iniziali su milioni di monete
di euro che circoleranno in tutti gli Stati membri dell'eurozona e sarà premiato
con un set di monete pregiate da collezione.

La “Berlin Summer School in Scienze Sociali – Collegamento tra Teoria e
Ricerca Empirica”, mira a promuovere i giovani ricercatori, rafforzando la loro
comprensione metodologica nel collegare teoria e ricerca empirica.
È il frutto di uno sforzo congiunto di due delle principali istituzioni delle Scienze
Sociali in Germania: la Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences (BGSS)
presso la Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin e il Social Science Research Center di
Berlino (WZB).
Spese: grazie al generoso finanziamento del BGSS e la WZB, non vi sarà
alcuna tassa di iscrizione.

quattro settimane in Canada e opportunità di
stage per due mesi. Previsti finanziamenti
Thinking Canada” is an initiative of the European Network for Canadian
Studies – a four-week study tour to Canada for European students that
will take place from 4 September to 2 October 2011, followed for selected
participants by two-month internships. The tour to Canada commences with
three days of briefings in Brussels on the EU and EU-Canada relations.
Aims
“Thinking Canada” is designed to enable European students to experience an
in-depth exposure to a wide variety of institutions (both private and public),
government bodies, think tanks and NGOs in Canada. These have been chosen
to reflect a number of topics that are central for an understanding of
contemporary Canada, among them cultural diversity, the English/French
relationship, multiculturalism, the position of the First Nations, federalism and
regionalism, the environment, urban issues and questions relating to
economics, finance and trade.

EU-Canada relations will also be examined. This interdisciplinary programme is
intended to broaden students’ knowledge of Canada and is designed to provide
them with opportunities to interact with the specialists and experts who will be
leading the sessions at the various places they visit.
The tour itself – logistics
Participants will arrive in Brussels on 4 September, the tour proper will begin on
5 September with a four-day introductory session focused on the EU and EUCanada relations. It will, then move on to Canada for a period of three-and-ahalf weeks that will take it to Ottawa, Québec, Montréal, Toronto, Vancouver
and Victoria (8 September – 1 October) and finally back to Brussels (2 October).
Accommodation will be in university residences (Brussels) and reasonably-priced
hotels (Canada). Travel to and from Canada, as well as from Toronto to
Vancouver, will be on arranged group flights; within Canada, ground
transportation by coach will be provided in and between cities.
Eligibility
Participation in the tour is open to university
students who, at the time of application, are in their
third year of studies (or equivalent) or higher and
are citizens of the European Union. Third-country
nationals who have been legal residents in the
European Union for at least three years (and for
purposes other than study) before the start of
the tour are also eligible; they must be enrolled
at a university in an EU member state. A
maximum of 32 students will take part in the tour.
Note: other students at European universities can
take part in the tour, but on the condition that they
pay the full cost – 2,750 EUR per person.
Academic content
“Thinking Canada” will be a demanding tour academically, providing a rich
academic experience in a non-academic setting. Students will be required to
attend all sessions, and may also be asked to do some academic work during
the tour itself. Each participant must agree beforehand with an academic
supervisor at his or her home university on the specific requirements to be
recognized after return, ideally in the form of ECTS credits. In addition, two
academic advisors will be accompanying the tour to serve as resource persons
and to advise the students with regard to any academic tasks they may have
been set by their advisors. In cities visited in Canada, participants will also have
the opportunity to meet with local Canadian academics.

Language
Though Canada is of course a bilingual state, and the tour will be visiting both
Anglophone and Francophone regions of the country, for practical reasons it
was felt that it would not be possible to require every participant to be fluent
in both English and French. The great majority of places and institutions on the
programme are situated in Anglophone Canada; in the case of Québec, the
individuals who will be meeting with the tour participants have for the most
part agreed to give their presentations in English; where this is not possible,
interpretation will be provided. Naturally, a knowledge of French will greatly
enhance the experience gained on the tour; however, it is not a precondition
for participation. On the other hand, it is essential for participants to have a
good working knowledge of English.
Costs
Most of the funding for the tour comes from a very
generous grant from the European Commission, with
additional contributions from the European Network
for Canadian Studies and the national and regional
Canadian Studies associations in Europe. Thanks
to this financial support, students will only be
required to pay a participation fee of 700 EUR.
For students from the newer member countries
of the EU (Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic,
Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Malta, Lithuania,
Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia) the fee will
be 600 EUR.
The following costs will be fully covered for
participants in the tour:
- accommodation in Brussels and for the duration of
the tour in Canada
- return airfare Europe-Canada-Europe, as well as the
flight from Toronto to Vancouver, on group flights
booked by the tour organizers
- ground transportation in Canada
Students will be expected to pay for their own meals,
and to cover incidental costs.
Internships
Eight internships will also be offered, enabling students to stay on in Canada
for two months after the end of the tour itself. They will take place at leading
think tanks, foundations, cultural institutions and government departments
selected to meet a broad range of interests and skills. For details, click on

Students from countries that have national or regional Canadian Studies
associations will send their filled-in application forms to these associations.

Selection process
The selection process will have two stages. In the first, national/regional
Canadian Studies associations will rank the candidates from their respective
countries/regions. In the case of applicants not falling under any
national/regional association, this will be done at the central
level by the EU-Canada Study Tour Selection
Committee. This committee will then make the final
selection. A reserve list will also be prepared.
Successful applicants will be notified by the end of
May.
Payment
After applicants have been informed that they
have been accepted for the tour they will be
sent instructions for paying the participation
fee.

La nuova stagione dei campi di volontariato è ormai avanzata. In questo

The project 2010-GR-18 will take place at the Therapeutic Riding Association of
Greece (TRAG) which is situated in Athens, near Katexaki metro station and
about 20 minutes far from the center of Athens. The infrastructure of the
association includes stables for the horses, training court, room for educational
and leisure activities, a big yard, the administration office and a provisional
residence for guests.
2 placements are available for the period January-July
2012 and 2 placements for the period September
2012-June 2013.

AFS is urgently looking for a volunteer to our brand new EVS project – Café
Utopia i Holstebro, Denmark (2011-DK-17) – a high profile café driven by
mentally vulnerable people and people with mental diseases such as
schizophrenia, manic-depression, borderline etc. The project will start in
September and the duration is 10 months.

scoprire sono tanti, e ora viaggiare è diventato davvero facile grazie all’Unione
europea. All’interno dell’UE è possibile attraversare molti confini senza subire
controlli e con l’euro è più semplice andare a caccia di buoni affari.
• The project "Places and words of memory, yards and tools for
citizenship"
The project is jointly organized by InformaGiovani, Adice (France), Sci (Greece),
Estyes (Estonia) and other European NGOs and local authorities and the support
of the Europe for Citizens programme of the European
Union.
The project in itself has the aim of connecting the
preservation of memory of the past with the
construction of the future of a democratic and
inclusive civil society in Europe. It consists on
several international voluntary projects and a
seminar, in different countries of Europe
involved in this project.
All the activities, based on volunteer involvement,
will be organized in order to stimulate and facilitate
the participation of citizens from disadvantaged
backgrounds or at risk of social marginalization.

Who is Informagiovani
The association InformaGiovani is the coordinator of a European network of
organizations that promote international volunteering as a method of social
action.
IG manages an international database concerning youth opportunities for
mobility, study and training in the city of Palermo.
Ig also organizes several trainings mainly on different aspects of volunteering
(projects, social inclusion, environment, legality) and on funding opportunities

COMMON FEATURES
Participants profile
- Participants must be over 18 years old (over
17 for the camp in Italy)
- from 27 European Member Countries plus
Croatia Macedonia and Albania;
- a basic capability to interact in English is
required due to the international composition
of the group
- interested in the topic of preserving the memory
of the holocaust and the bad effects
fascism/Nazism/Stalinism period and with a proven
possibility to multiply the experience in their country of
origins (e.g. contacting other associations which already
develop research on non violent resistance during second world war and
promote an attitude of active citizenship through volunteering);
- preference will be given to participants coming from disadvantaged back
ground;
Financial conditions
- Our organization covers the following costs: insurance, food and lodging,
travel cost (this last in a percentage between 70% and 80% - the final
percentage to be known when the total tickets cost is known)
- travel cost reimbursement will be done, by bank transfer, once travel back
documents (tickets, boarding passes, etc) will be received in InformaGiovani
office correctly and before the established deadline
- a small participation fee of 10 Euros is required
